Homelander remained on his guard. The bowl of stuff in front of him looked far too familiar.
It looked much like that bowl of fermented mung bean milk from a while back, and it looked downright evil.
Just thinking about that overpowering taste made Homelander's stomach churn, leaving him unable to bring himself to try the soy milk.
Soldier Boy was still urging him to drink it.
"Of course I don't suspect you're trying to hurt me. I'm just... just..." Homelander stammered, searching for an excuse to get out of it.
Fortunately, Ashley came clicking over in her high heels just then.
"Good morning, gentlemen. I heard you were having breakfast here, so I took the liberty of interrupting." Ashley looked hurried, a tablet clutched in her arms.
Homelander looked up. "You're just in time, Ashley. What is it?"
Ashley looked a little puzzled, but then undisguised excitement spread across her face. "Sir! There's been a breakthrough!"
She set the tablet on the table. "The complete, unedited surveillance footage from Small-Town Park was posted anonymously. The anonymous poster calls themselves the Hero Slayer."
The video showed the entire incident, corroborating exactly what Klee had described.
"And the local police have been exceptionally cooperative. Their investigation found that the man with the bald patches had a record of repeatedly harassing underage girls."
"We posted this video, along with documentation issued by the federal police, on Vought's official account. The comments are overwhelmingly positive, and your approval rating has climbed back up by four percent in just two hours."
"Of course, some people are still criticizing your behavior. They believe what you did yesterday was too extreme and that you had no right to deal with that Black Youth. Several waves of protests have already broken out."
Homelander's expression darkened slightly.
