Lucas froze for a long moment before replying, "Ashley from your Vought International was arrested for assaulting me. I specifically called to notify you."
Soldier Boy sneered. "Still trying to scam me? Your granddaddy Soldier Boy has plenty of free time these days. Just you wait. I'll be at your door in a minute."
He firmly believed that Lucas, who claimed to be the president, was some phone scammer with too much time on his hands.
Because he clearly remembered that the current president's name was Henderson.
Whatever. He would have Anika teach him a lesson. No one on Earth was allowed to be more arrogant than he was.
As he spoke, he sent the "scammer's" number to Anika and asked her to track his location in real time.
The meeting was almost over, and Homelander asked out of curiosity, "Did some blind idiot pick a fight with you again?"
"Some pussy named Lucas. Sounds like a fucking moron," Soldier Boy said without looking up.
Homelander's expression suddenly turned grave. "Lucas? The guy who recently took office?"
Soldier Boy immediately looked away from his phone. "What do you mean, took office?"
His bewildered expression made Homelander feel even more uneasy, and he spoke a little faster. "Our last president died unexpectedly, so Vice President Lucas took over for the rest of his term. You didn't know?"
"Fuck..." Soldier Boy pinched out his cigar. He really paid no attention to politics, so he had known nothing about it.
Thinking back to his conversation with Lucas, he suddenly felt as if he had gotten himself into trouble. But then again, he was already this powerful. How much trouble could it possibly be?
So he casually gave Homelander a brief account of everything that had just happened.
Homelander's eyelids twitched as he listened.
