The commander swallowed, inexplicably frightened by Homelander's smiling face.
He had no idea what had happened. He briefly considered what he had just said, but could find nothing wrong with any of it.
So he braced himself and continued, "Sir, Soldier Boy has already entered the White House. Lucas is still inside."
He anxiously pointed at the military personnel sprawled across the ground and beat his chest in anguish.
"Sir! Do you see this? Soldier Boy has gone insane! He's a superhero, but Vought will be ruined if he does this. You have to stop him. There's still time."
Homelander looked down, somewhat moved himself. His Super Vision picked out more details.
Every American soldier lying on the ground, wailing to prove he was dying, had actually suffered no fatal injuries.
At a glance, only one of the thousands had serious injuries. His mouth was full of blood, most of his teeth were gone, his face was badly swollen, and he was already having trouble breathing.
Yet he was still stubbornly shouting, "Fuck you, Soldier Boy! You're way sexier in person than in those little-girl outfits online!"
Homelander's mouth twitched.
Hitting him was against the law, but certainly not unreasonable.
The commander was still babbling. "Homelander, what are you waiting for? Do something!!!"
His hoarse, desperate shouting made even the loudspeaker a few dozen centimeters away buzz, and his voice carried far...
The arriving Delta Force, counterterrorism special forces, and other units all turned to look.
Their leaders were all bewildered, conferring with one another in an attempt to understand the situation.
They hauled up a fallen soldier and asked what had happened.
"That son of a bitch Soldier Boy, who knows what's gone wrong in that bastard's head..." the soldier wailed, when a red beam radiating tremendous heat suddenly
