Mac'Aree had once been the largest and most prosperous city on Argus. It was said that before the Day of Darkness, tens of millions of Eredar had lived here. It was from here that Kil'jaeden and Velen had ruled the entire thriving world of Argus.
But this was also where the Dark Titan Sargeras had landed on this world, and the first place on Argus to be destroyed.
Not all Eredar were willing to abandon their faith in the Holy Light. The moment Sargeras descended amid surging darkness, this minority chose to flee. They eventually gathered in Mac'Aree and activated this great city's Holy Light Barrier, the most powerful energy shield the Eredar could create.
No one knew whether it could stop Sargeras, but beyond that, they had no idea how to resist the Dark Titan or where to go... That was the most tragic part. They were like people desperately trying to escape hell, unaware that they were already in hell, with no way out.
These ants who dared refuse Sargeras's dark gift did not anger the Dark Titan. In his eyes, they were as insignificant as dust. Sargeras merely waved his hand, and unimaginable energy swept away everything in Mac'Aree. Everything, the city and all those sheltering within it, became the ruins that remained today. It was even torn from the earth and lifted into the sky, becoming a lonely land of deathly silence, though this also spared it from the catastrophe that later befell the continent of Argus.
Sargeras created the largest graveyard on Argus to demonstrate his immense power. After that, no one dared resist the Dark Titan again. He successfully seized all power over Argus, holding life and death in his hands.
