Vol. 1Yoriichi’s Battles and Ichigo’s Awakening
Yoriichi protected Rukia, Soul Society, and Karakura Town through Aizen’s war and Azashiro’s escape, then investigated Xcution’s plot around Ichigo. The volume ended with Ichigo confronting Ginjo alone as his cracked badge released a new surge of power and he declared Bankai.
- Yoriichi awakened Hekyō, protected Ichigo and his friends, and joined their mission to rescue Rukia. After entering the Seireitei, he learned Rukia’s execution had been moved up and led Orihime and Chad toward the Senzaikyū.
- Yoriichi fought Shunsui Kyōraku and was cleared of suspicion after Aizen’s supposed murder was announced. He then set out with Orihime and Chad to find Ichigo or rescue Rukia themselves.
- Yoriichi helped Ichigo rescue Rukia and destroy the Sōkyoku, then held off Yamamoto until Isane revealed Aizen’s plot and Aizen escaped to Hueco Mundo.
- Yamamoto appointed Yoriichi Third Division Captain and stationed him in Karakura Town, where Yoriichi fought the Arrancars and prepared to face Aizen while Ichigo’s group went to Hueco Mundo to rescue Orihime.
- Yoriichi escaped Nulviedo Vacio’s Void Prison, defeated Aizen, and helped Kisuke seal him as the Arrancar surrendered or stopped fighting.
- After Azashiro escaped Muken and fled to the World of the Living, Yoriichi protected Karakura Town, killed Cien Granz when he came for Luo Jia, and offered to guard her.
- Yoriichi investigated Ichigo’s silent Substitute Shinigami Badge and uncovered Tsukishima’s altered memories and Xcution’s plan to awaken Ichigo’s Fullbring before Ginjo stole his powers.
- Ginjo and Tsukishima restrained Yoriichi and drained Ichigo’s Fullbring, but Ichigo fought back and chose to face Ginjo alone before his cracking badge released Reiatsu and he declared Bankai.
