At last, the Village Chief's house came into view.
The person at the entrance recognized him at once and led him inside.
"He's finished repairing it already?"
Kawahara Chintetsu did not sound pleased.
When he received word that Tetsu no Sosuke had repaired such a badly damaged weapon in so little time, his first reaction was not delight but anger.
The damage was too severe. A proper repair simply could not be done so quickly.
If Tetsu no Sosuke had managed it, then he must have worked without sleep, maintaining intense concentration the entire time.
Or... he had just done a sloppy job.
Kawahara Chintetsu knew Tetsu no Sosuke fairly well and suspected the latter. For a moment, he was disappointed.
Finally, he sighed. "Let him in."
A short while later, Tetsu no Sosuke walked in with the Nichirin Blade.
"Village Chief."
He paid his respects to the Village Chief.
The Village Chief glanced at him and sighed. "Give me the Nichirin Blade."
Someone immediately stepped up to take the Nichirin Blade from him.
"All right, go back and get some rest." Looking at the blade, Kawahara Chintetsu felt a headache coming on. How was he supposed to explain this to the Nine Pillars?
He considered sending Tetsu no Sosuke away to rest, then having someone else repair it all over again.
"Um... Village Chief..."
Tetsu no Sosuke could not leave just yet. "What about Sun, the blade I forged?"
"Sun?" Kawahara Chintetsu was baffled. "What sun?"
"The blade I forged. Could I have it back?"
"You... you even gave it a name?" Kawahara Chintetsu nearly laughed in exasperation. He glared at him. "Get going."
"...That's hardly fair."
Tetsu no Sosuke pursed his lips. In the Swordsmith Village, the Village Chief held the highest and most respected position.
As someone who had crossed over into this world, Tetsu no Sosuke had no desire to anger him over this. He sighed, rose to his feet muttering under his breath, and turned to leave.
His lackadaisical manner only made Kawahara Chintetsu angrier. "With a repair like yours, you still had the nerve to—"
Just then, the Nichirin Blade was brought to him. He pulled it from its sheath, and the rest of his words died in his throat.
