Nakime did not spare him a glance. She only gazed quietly at the young man staring blankly back at her.
"He looks... so much like his father."
Nakime smiled faintly. In the next instant, walls and doors appeared around the young man, sealing him inside.
The Wind Pillar's pupils contracted, but he heard Nakime say softly, "I miss my husband terribly. All these years, was I searching for my son, or for the future I destroyed with my own hands? I don't know. But now... perhaps I can finally be free!"
Chapter 360: Settling the Score
The Infinity Castle collapsed!
It vanished in an instant, just as Tetsu no Sosuke was about to reach the Wind Pillar. Everything around him dissolved into nothing.
When the dust settled, Tetsu no Sosuke saw the Wind Pillar holding his blade. Nakime's head lay on the ground.
The young man sobbed as though his heart were breaking. Everyone else, Tetsu no Sosuke included, stared at one another in stunned silence.
What had happened?
"You took care of her yourself?" Tetsu no Sosuke looked at the Wind Pillar. He could hardly count on Giyu Tomioka to ask, so he would have to do it himself.
The Wind Pillar shook his head in silence, unsure how to explain.
It was less that he had slain Nakime than that she had ended her own life after remembering her past.
The young man had been staring at Nakime the whole time. When the Infinity Castle collapsed and he saw her severed head, he broke down.
Nakime was slowly disappearing. The Wind Pillar recounted what had happened and some of what she had said to everyone present.
Even Tetsu no Sosuke fell silent for a long time after hearing it.
Born human, how many people would willingly become demons?
