Several Upper Moons were already dead, Kokushibo had been annihilated by the sun, and Nakime had regained her humanity and promptly gone to her death.
The whole world had long since become something strange. No matter how great an impact there was, how much greater could it possibly get?
He let out a soft breath. Seeing the three of them refusing to speak to one another, he could not help finding it a little funny.
Logically speaking, Zenitsu Agatsuma was fairly outgoing, and Tanjiro was not shy either. There was no reason for those two to remain silent when they met... so, clearly, he must have been the reason they were not talking, right?
He coughed. "Since you're all in the same intake, try to get to know one another as much as you can. You might end up fighting side by side someday. But there's something else I should say, though it may sound a little cruel. Before you can become comrades, you have to survive this trial..."
He grinned. "Still, that shouldn't be hard for you."
With that, he turned and left.
The three remained where they were. Kanao took out a coin, tossed it into the air, and let it fall, then silently walked off to one side and sat down. She said nothing, looking just like an exquisite doll.
Zenitsu Agatsuma and Tanjiro exchanged bewildered looks, unable to understand Kanao's strange behavior. They looked back and forth at each other until Tanjiro finally smiled faintly. "I'll go sit over there."
"Then I'll go over there..." Zenitsu Agatsuma pointed in Kanao's direction.
Before long... some sort of commotion seemed to break out.
Tetsu no Sosuke sat in front of the gate. Eighty percent of the participants had arrived so
