Background & History

Tanjiro was already training under Urokodaki Sakonji when Tetsu no Sosuke and Kochou Kanae arrived at Mt. Sagiri. He introduced himself politely and defended Nezuko when Kanae learned that his sister had become a demon. Urokodaki explained that Nezuko had protected Tanjiro and humans rather than consumed them, leading Kanae to spare her temporarily 92 93.

Tetsu's concern over failing to save Tanjiro's family initially troubles Tanjiro, but Tanjiro insists that he will find a way to return Nezuko to humanity and identify the demon responsible for his family's deaths. Tetsu promises to forge a Nichirin Blade specifically for him once he completes his training and passes his test 99.
