"What the hell? When did I say I was going to put out a fire? I was hiding there so the demons wouldn't find me, okay? Who knew these two would find me instead..."
Zenitsu Agatsuma ranted inwardly, but it was already too late to escape.
Tanjiro's grip was like an iron vise. What truly made Zenitsu stop struggling, though, was the thought that putting out a fire had to be easier than facing a demon, right?
After all, one was fire and the other was a demon.
There were ways to deal with fire. But demons? They ate people!
The three of them had reunited in a strange way. They broke into a run and, before long, plunged deep into the Wisteria.
A little farther on, Zenitsu's expression suddenly changed. "No, no, no!!!"
"What?" Tanjiro looked at him.
"I hear something. Fighting," Zenitsu said. "Listen closely. Weapons are clashing. Someone's hacking at someone else."
His words put both Tanjiro and Kanao on alert.
Tanjiro sniffed. "I smell blood. And... something strange. I've never smelled it before, but it makes me uneasy."
"Hey, how about we go back?" Zenitsu ventured.
"Oh." Tanjiro nodded. "You can go back, then."
With that, he let go of Zenitsu's hand and continued through the Wisteria. Kanao said nothing and simply followed him.
Zenitsu looked ready to cry. "There's danger ahead! It's obvious... Why are we still going? We're going to die!"
He kept muttering, but he followed them anyway.
The sea of Wisteria wasn't very large, and they soon reached its edge.
Tanjiro peeked out, stared in bewilderment, then pulled his head back and gave Kanao a puzzled look.
Kanao kept smiling, with no other reaction.
Zenitsu hurriedly whispered, "What is it? What did you see?"
"I think there's a monster with a pig's
