When Wei Zisu heard the director say he wanted Yin Zhengchuan to work as a stunt double and act opposite him, surprise showed on his face.
He couldn't help thinking, What's gotten into the director? Hasn't he always had high standards for actors? Even stunt doubles have to be professional in every respect to get his approval. Why would he suddenly think of using Yin Zhengchuan, who's never acted and has no experience at all?
But he soon regained his composure and thought, Since the director's decided, I won't ask any more questions. After all, Yin Zhengchuan's height speaks for itself. That alone already makes him halfway qualified!
Yin Zhengchuan, on the other hand, didn't seem very surprised. Instead, he looked extremely happy. The director had probably mentioned it to him already and gotten his agreement before coming to tell Wei Zisu.
The director's words, "your husband," had delighted Yin Zhengchuan so much that he had to pinch his thigh hard to keep from laughing out loud.
Besides, getting to film with the person he liked was a wonderful opportunity in Yin Zhengchuan's eyes. It made him feel a little closer to Wei Zisu, so he had no reason to refuse. At the thought, a sweet feeling welled up in his heart.
With that settled, Wei Zisu and Yin Zhengchuan left the set.
On the way, Wei Zisu had originally planned to take Yin Zhengchuan for a walk around Film and Television City, but Yin Zhengchuan couldn't bear to let him wear himself out and gently urged him to hurry back and rest. Remembering that Yin Zhengchuan hadn't slept all night either, Wei Zisu took his advice, and the two hurried back to the hotel.
Once they reached the hotel, they each returned to their own room.
Yin Zhengchuan took a shower and lay on the bed, happily humming a tune.
He picked up his phone, changed his WeChat nickname to "I'm Going to Be a Legend," then sent Yin Baozhu an account of his meeting with Wei Zisu. Only after showing off for quite a while did he fall asleep, satisfied.
Wei Zisu slept until noon, when his alarm woke him.
He got up and went to the set alone without going to wake Yin Zhengchuan, only sending him a WeChat message.
Seeing his new nickname, he couldn't help smiling.
Every time he opened Yin Zhengchuan's WeChat, the new nickname always felt fresh and made him chuckle. Without realizing it, he had begun looking forward to Yin Zhengchuan's "nickname changes in lieu of Moments posts."
That afternoon, filming was still taking place in the "imperial palace," though most of it consisted of scenes between him and Wu Hao.
The first scene was a relaxed conversation between the brothers after the palace banquet, with quite a few lines in which the young lord called him his big brother.
They stood in their respective positions, facing each other.
Wei Zisu put away his crumpled script pages and tried to get into character as quickly as possible.
The weather was a little gloomy, and the lighting technician was still adjusting the lights when Wu Hao suddenly asked from opposite him, "Was that guy who treated everyone last night really your husband?"
Wei Zisu looked up at him.
Ever since this man had joined the production, aside from putting on a polite act at their first meeting, he had barely shown Wei Zisu a pleasant face. That enemy-like gaze in particular had nearly pulled him out of character several times, making him think his "big brother" wanted to kill his "little brother."
"What's it to you?" Wei Zisu replied calmly and bluntly.
Wu Hao actually laughed at that.
Strangely enough, there was no longer any "hostility" in his gaze as he looked at Wei Zisu today. It had turned into smugness instead.
With a devil-may-care air, Wu Hao asked, "You're sure you like alphas, right?"
Wei Zisu was utterly baffled. "If you've got something to say, say it. Don't beat around the bush. I don't understand."
"I mean, you don't like omegas, right?"
"Wu Hao, is there something wrong with you?" Wei Zisu asked without a shred of politeness.
Wu Hao nodded. "Yeah, there is."
"You're crazy!"
"A little worse than crazy."
"What the hell? Has water gotten into your cerebral cortex?"
Wei Zisu had barely finished cursing when the director called, "Action!"
He immediately put on an innocent smile, tugged at Wu Hao's sleeve, and said, "Brother, that duck soup just now was so delicious. Can I come back to the palace to have it again?"
Wu Hao had also donned a gentle, loving mask. He stroked Wei Zisu's head and said, "Of course. But you must study hard. Once you grow up and become an official, you'll attend the palace banquet every year, and you'll get to have duck soup every time."
What did it mean to be professional as an actor?
This was what it meant!
Once the first scene was finished, Wei Zisu pulled out his script pages out of habit, planning to rest by the wall.
Then he suddenly spotted Yin Zhengchuan beside the director behind the camera and remembered that there was also a van.
Yin Zhengchuan held an insulated cup and waved at him with a smile.
"When did you get here?" Wei Zisu walked over and asked.
Yin Zhengchuan unscrewed the lid of the insulated cup and handed it to him. "Just a little while ago. I woke up when you messaged me as you were leaving, but I still couldn't catch up with you. So I went and bought a red bean slush to have ready and waited here for you."
Wei Zisu took a sip. It was icy cold and sweet.
He hadn't even had time to eat after getting up. Not only did this cool him down, it could fill his stomach too. When he entered the van, he discovered that Yin Zhengchuan had also prepared a few dishes, still steaming in an insulated food container.
Yin Zhengchuan took the dishes out and arranged them on the table, even thoughtfully unwrapping the chopsticks before handing them to him.
"You haven't eaten anything since last night. With such a demanding workload, how is your body supposed to take it? No matter how busy you are, you can't skip your three meals a day."
As he fussed over him, he opened all the food containers.
Wei Zisu had to admit that Yin Zhengchuan really was very thoughtful, and that he himself was indeed rather easily touched by the little details of everyday life.
For the first time, he felt that perhaps choosing Yin Zhengchuan as his marriage partner had been the right decision.
"Thank you." Warmth filled Wei Zisu's heart again.
He could no longer remember the last time someone had reminded him to eat on time.
