Following the attack on Xie Ran, Su Wanyue persuades Gu Yanzhou to investigate the police’s progress under the pretext of repairing his reputation. The attackers claim personal motives and do not implicate her. Privately, she expresses relief that the ringleader has not exposed her and regrets losing a useful pawn 140.

Su Wanyue envies Xie Ran’s appearance and uses a complaint of stomach discomfort to draw Gu Yanzhou away from a confrontation involving Xie Ran and Feng Leyao. Drug Transport, Arrest, and Miscarriage

Su Wanyue agrees to work with underworld contacts in exchange for their help against Xie Ran and Xie Yuan. As Gu Yanzhou becomes increasingly distant, she proceeds with a drug-transport assignment 160 161 163.

She leaves the Gu Family villa at around ten at night, stops at a public restroom to collect the drugs, and drives to a bar for the handoff. Police arrest her in the bar restroom and discover a concealed packet inside a powder compact 164 165.

More than a dozen people break through the police cordon, and one urges her to run. During her escape attempt, she is tackled, suffers abdominal pain and bleeding, and loses her baby. She is taken to hospital for surgery 165.

After initially refusing to cooperate, she learns that Gu Yanzhou has also been detained. She then gives an account of her dealings with Sister Ping and the thugs. Police establish that she transported drugs to obtain revenge against Xie Yuan and Xie Ran; the later public follow-up also identifies her responsibility for ordering a kidnapping 171 172 180.

Final Meeting

By the ending, Su Wanyue is in custody and has lost much of her public support. Reports state that the evidence against her is conclusive and that she faces more than ten years in prison 180.

During Xie Yuan and Mu Ze’s visit, she insists that Xie Yuan is not truly himself and warns Mu Ze that he is being deceived. Guards restrain her and remove her from the visitation room.
