Rainy Night Delivery, the Foodie Snorlax's Admiration!
Ye Yinchuan was roused from his brief, deep sleep only when the delivery call came in.
Before he knew it, his stomach was rumbling with hunger, like rolling thunder.
He checked the time. There were only ten minutes left until one in the morning.
Ye Yinchuan opened the door and saw the deliveryman, drenched from head to toe beneath a raincoat. Beside him stood his Growlithe, accompanying him and wearing a Pokémon-specific raincoat.
Both the man and the Pokémon looked tired and haggard.
"I'm really sorry. It's raining outside, and the flooded roads forced me to take a detour, so the delivery was late."
The deliveryman seemed to have already prepared himself for complaints—or even scolding—from the User.
"It's fine."
Ye Yinchuan merely smiled, took the delivery, and nodded at him.
They were both ordinary people struggling to make a living. Flooded roads were beyond anyone's control, so there was no need to make things difficult for each other.
Besides, although the food had arrived a little late, he had gotten a nice nap out of it, so he had not really lost anything.
"Thank you for understanding!"
The deliveryman bowed to Ye Yinchuan and turned to leave.
"Wait."
Ye Yinchuan called out to him, his expression turning slightly grave.
The deliveryman's heart skipped a beat. Could there be something wrong with the order?
If there really was a problem, not only would his trip have been for nothing, but he might even have to pay compensation.
Ye Yinchuan crouched down and examined the Growlithe.
Growlithe was a puppy Pokémon. Its body was orange-yellow, while the area from its mouth to its belly and tail was cream-colored. It had black stripes, yellow fur on its head and neck, large round ears, and bright black eyes and nose. It looked especially cute and harmless.
"Brother, you should take your Growlithe to the hospital when you have time. There might be a tumor inside its body, around its abdomen. It's still benign for now, but if you wait too long, there could be trouble."
Ye Yinchuan's Appraisal Eye had already taken effect. He had caught a quick glimpse of Growlithe's panel earlier, and under the Special section, he had seen Abdominal Tumor.
The deliveryman was clearly stunned, probably finding it rather baffling.
"I'm a streamer who specializes in appraising Pokémon. I can tell at a glance where a Pokémon's problem lies."
Ye Yinchuan added, making it sound a little more reasonable.
"Oh, okay!"
Though the deliveryman was doubtful, he still responded enthusiastically. "What's your streamer name? I'll follow you when I have time."
Ye Yinchuan replied, "Snorlax Appraisal. Snorlax as in Snorlax."
"Got it! Thanks!"
The deliveryman was in a hurry to deliver his next order, so after thanking him, he hurried off with Growlithe.
Watching the man and Pokémon leave, Ye Yinchuan sincerely hoped that the deliveryman would heed his reminder.
Pokémon were like humans—they, too, experienced birth, aging, sickness, and death.
For a family that was already struggling financially, a serious illness would only make things worse.
Ye Yinchuan was not doing well himself, but he could not bear to see others suffer. Giving a reminder was enough to leave his conscience clear.
Carrying the Kiln Chicken, Ye Yinchuan shut the door. Because of the long delivery time, the chicken in his hand had already gone a little cold.
Ye Yinchuan remained optimistic. "Cold means it won't burn my mouth. Perfect for eating."
When he placed the Kiln Chicken on the table and opened it, the Snorlax that had been sleeping soundly had somehow quietly appeared before the table.
Its big eyes held tiny pupils, its mouth hung slightly open, and drool was already trickling from the corner of its mouth.
"Ah—"
Snorlax stared at the fragrant Kiln Chicken, then at Ye Yinchuan. Its big head was filled with big confusion—
What was this thing that smelled so amazing? Since when could our family afford something like this?
"You're not allowed to eat it all. I'll share it with you."
Ye Yinchuan placed a large bowl of white rice before Snorlax, then tore off a huge drumstick and handed it over.
Snorlax opened its mouth, instinctively wanting to swallow it, but it did not.
It pointed at Ye Yinchuan, then at the drumstick.
"You mean the drumstick is for me?"
Snorlax nodded.
Ye Yinchuan was both surprised and touched. Pokémon were intelligent, but for one to be this well-behaved and clever...
Snorlax picked up the large bowl of white rice and poured it straight into its mouth, swallowing it without even chewing.
That was how it ate—utterly outrageous.
It was said that Snorlax could happily eat even rotten food without caring about how it tasted at all...
Who knew what level of foodie that made it.
"Kaah~"
After swallowing the chicken breast Ye Yinchuan had fed it, Snorlax let out a satisfied sound.
Ye Yinchuan muttered to himself:
"It didn't even chew and just swallowed it whole. Can it really tell whether it tastes good or bad?"
Meanwhile, Ye Yinchuan enjoyed the meal before him: Kiln Chicken with rice.
The Kiln Chicken was fragrant and flavorful, its meat rich, tender, and juicy. One bite was springy and silky smooth. As he chewed it together with the rice, the juices flowed across his taste buds—that flavor...
"Ah, it's so good!"
As he ate, Ye Yinchuan could not help tilting back his head and sighing over the delicious food.
He had not eaten a proper meal in a long time. Even something at this level was enough to make him feel how wonderful life was. With every second of enjoying the food, as his taste buds were satisfied, his mind and mood brightened along with them.
A voice also reminded him:
"As long as I work hard and make money, I can enjoy a better quality of life. This Kiln Chicken is just a reward for earning my first pot of gold. Keep working hard, Ye Yinchuan..."
That was right. It was already past one in the morning, but Ye Yinchuan felt full of motivation for life.
After finishing the Kiln Chicken—which he did not know whether to call dinner or a late-night snack—Ye Yinchuan washed up and waited for a while. At last, the fifty jin of omnivorous Intermediate Food he had ordered for same-city delivery arrived.
The deliveryman and a Machoke carried in five ten-jin bags of food rations.
Machoke was a Fighting Pokémon, the evolved form of Machop.
Though it was only 1.5 meters tall, its entire body was packed with sturdy muscles. As Machop's evolved form, it shared some of Machop's traits: gray skin, a reptilian-looking head, and three tile-like protrusions on its head resembling a lizard's dorsal fins. Unlike Machop, however, it had five fingers on both its hands and feet, and six red marks ran along its arms, seeming to be exposed muscle lines.
Machoke also had a rather strange characteristic: it wore a golden belt connected to a pair of black shorts, which were said to appear automatically after it evolved.
There was even a claim that the belt restricted Machoke's power, and that unfastening it would completely unleash its strength.
But in reality...
Ye Yinchuan took a closer look and found that the belt and shorts were actually just markings on Machoke's body, similar to a lizard's camouflage. All he could say was that this was the Pokémon World, where nature's craftsmanship was truly miraculous.
Machoke was incredibly strong. With both hands, it easily carried forty jin, while the deliveryman only symbolically lifted ten jin.
After the deliveryman and Machoke left, Ye Yinchuan opened all five bags of Intermediate Food, fifty jin in total, and called Snorlax over.
"Kaawu!"
Snorlax was stunned. It had not seen this much food in a long time.
Its big eyes and mung-bean-sized pupils were filled with confusion.
Ye Yinchuan saw that Snorlax's status on the panel had changed to hungry, confused, and panic.
It probably thought this was its last meal before execution!
"Go ahead and eat. We made money from the stream. From now on, you'll have food to eat every day!"
Only after hearing that did Snorlax recover.
It happily wiggled its large ears, grinned wide, and revealed a blissful smile.
The way it looked at Ye Yinchuan was filled with admiration.
Streaming... was that the thing its master always did at night?
No matter what, a master who could get so much food was simply too cool!
