Arc 8Dragonstone’s Wild Dragons

Redd traveled to Dragonstone, strengthened Ehm and King Ghidorah, and began building a dragon army and its home. He subdued Cannibal and Sheepstealer, then sent King Ghidorah after a wounded pale dragon hidden beneath a volcano.

  • Redd left for Dragonstone with Rhaenyra and recruited Douglas and Jasent, then extorted a million Gold Dragons from House Mooton to fund his plans.
  • Redd began preparing Dragonstone’s volcano as a Dragon home and transformed Ehm and King Ghidorah, leaving King Ghidorah far stronger.
  • Redd ordered construction of the Dragonpit, compensated islanders for verified livestock losses, and summoned Dragonstone’s wild dragons.
  • King Ghidorah defeated Cannibal, and Redd persuaded the wounded dragon to submit and form a Mental Connection with him.
  • King Ghidorah subdued Sheepstealer, who submitted to Redd and sought his protection.
  • Redd and the three dragons searched Dragonstone, where Cannibal spotted a dragon entering a volcanic crack.
  • King Ghidorah found a wounded pale grayish-white dragon in an underground cavern, and it fought back with blazing orange-red fire.
Chapters 176–200 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 176Daemon

Ellard linked the attack to the vanished Red Priests and set out to find them, while Daemon recovered in hiding and killed a man who knew his secret. Viserys discovered the corpse and questioned Daemon, who revealed that the Priests of the Lord of Light had orchestrated events and argued that weakening the Night's Watch could benefit House Targaryen.

  • Ellard noticed that the three Red Priests had vanished after meeting privately with the Commander-in-Chief and ordered his men to search for them.
  • The Red Priest promised Daemon he would walk normally in two days, and Daemon pledged to fulfill his promise within six months.
  • After the Red Priests left, Daemon killed a man who came to collect a bag of Gold Dragons, then lay back down beside the body.
  • Viserys found the corpse in Daemon's hut and asked whether Daemon was involved.
  • Daemon told Viserys that the Priests of the Lord of Light were behind the events and argued that burdening the Wall would make House Stark more compliant.

Ch. 177Leaving the North

Viserys and Daemon concluded that Redd’s dragons threatened House Targaryen’s exclusive power, so Viserys planned to contrast his own kindness with Redd’s brutality. After Ellard executed nearly a hundred Night’s Watch men, Redd left for Dragonstone with Rhaenyra, intending to strengthen King Ghidorah against the gods.

  • Daemon told Viserys that Redd’s existence would undermine House Targaryen’s control of dragons and weaken the dynasty.
  • Viserys ordered the bodies removed, demanded Daemon keep their discussion secret, and planned to portray Redd as cruel while maintaining his own generous image.
  • Rhaenys told Redd that Ellard would investigate the Night’s Watch and House Martell would answer within a month; Redd threatened to destroy House Martell if its response failed to satisfy him.
  • Redd agreed to accompany Rhaenyra to Dragonstone, where he hoped to grow stronger and empower King Ghidorah to face the gods.
  • Two days later, Ellard had nearly a hundred Night’s Watch men executed, and Redd and Rhaenyra departed for Dragonstone after Rhaenyra bid farewell to Viserys.

Ch. 178Return to Maidenpool

Redd and Rhaenyra returned from the North to Maidenpool, where Redd planned to extract one final payment before focusing on Dragonstone. He recruited the knights Douglas and Jasent to help gather men willing to follow him to Dragonstone.

  • Redd and Rhaenyra flew south from the North on their Dragons after Aegon had killed Silverwing, clashing during the journey.
  • Redd and Rhaenyra returned to Maidenpool instead of going directly to Dragonstone, and Redd resolved to profit from the town once more.
  • Redd met Vyris and Manfryd, told them ambiguous news, and waited that evening for capable knights to approach him.
  • Douglas arrived first, pledged his loyalty to Redd, and took a seat to await the others.
  • Jasent also swore to serve Redd and agreed with Douglas to find out which landless knights would follow Redd to Dragonstone.

Ch. 179The price

Redd considered turning Dragonstone’s two volcanoes into Dragonpits to build a force capable of surviving the cursed Valyrian Peninsula, but the project required more money than he had. He demanded House Mooton pay for Maidenpool, and the chapter ended with him rejecting Vyris’s claim that 500,000 Gold Dragons was the house’s limit.

  • Theora and Marcus arrived too late to pledge themselves to Redd, and Douglas and Jasent offered them the choice of leaving for Dragonstone with Redd or staying behind.
  • Redd studied the Magic Book and decided he might transform Dragonstone’s two volcanoes into Dragonpits to raise an army of Dragons for a future return to the Valyrian Peninsula.
  • Redd calculated that the Dragonpit project would cost more than his private funds could cover and decided to seek wealth from House Mooton.
  • Redd gave Vyris and Manfryd the choice of paying to buy back Maidenpool or facing a prolonged campaign that would bleed House Mooton’s wealth; Vyris chose to pay, while Manfryd did not appear.
  • Vyris’s offer rose from 300,000 to 500,000 Gold Dragons, but when he said that was House Mooton’s limit, Redd demanded one million and stood up in disbelief.

Ch. 180Leaving Maidenpool

Redd forced Vyris to pay five hundred thousand Gold Dragons’ worth of gold and goods, along with sixty percent of House Mooton’s annual domain revenue, in exchange for leaving them in power. As Redd prepared to sail for Dragonstone with the supplies and fewer than thirty knights, three dragons appeared over the harbor.

  • Vyris accepted Redd’s terms and asked him to take away the landless knights he had placed among House Mooton; Redd agreed to take those willing to leave.
  • Three days later, Vyris delivered three shiploads of payment, including two hundred thousand Gold Dragons and goods valued at three hundred thousand more.
  • Redd decided to use the payment to build the Dragonpit and buy supplies and slaves, while also preparing to build a powerful army.
  • Jasent told Redd that fewer than thirty knights would join him, as most had chosen to stay behind.
  • Douglas reported that the ships and crew were ready, and Redd led Jasent and Douglas toward the gangplank.
  • Three dragons roared into view and flew low over the harbor, their wingbeats scattering loose cargo and snapping the dockside flags.

Ch. 181Arrival at the harbor

Redd’s fleet reached Dragonstone after a swift voyage, and Rhaenyra and Laena waited at the harbor to welcome him. As Redd prepared to disembark, a silver-gray Dragon attacked, but King Ghidorah struck it with golden lightning and sent it crashing into the sea.

  • Rhaenyra showed off Syrax’s aerial skills above the harbor while Redd dismissed her display and planned how to take over Dragonstone.
  • Redd used King Ghidorah to summon winds when the fleet encountered lulls, helping the ships sail quickly toward Dragonstone.
  • Rhaenyra flew ahead on Syrax, and after nearly two days the fleet sighted Dragonstone’s volcanic peaks.
  • Laena persuaded Rhaenyra to wait at the harbor and welcome Redd as his fleet approached.
  • A silver-gray Dragon dove toward Redd, but King Ghidorah struck it with lightning and knocked it into the sea.

Ch. 182The Clown

Seasmoke surfaced with Laenor after the dragon fell into the sea, and Grand Maester Runeter revived him on the beach. While Laena and Rhaenyra stayed with Laenor, Redd arranged the island’s defenses and headed for the Dragonpit.

  • Redd watched as Seasmoke recovered from King Ghidorah’s golden lightning and struggled to reach the surface with Laenor.
  • Laena ordered her guards to rescue Laenor, but the men could not approach him in the rough water.
  • Seasmoke surfaced carrying Laenor, then landed on the beach outside the harbor.
  • Laena freed Laenor from the saddle, and Grand Maester Runeter resuscitated him until he began breathing steadily.
  • Redd arranged for the sailors to unload cargo and sent Jasent to take charge of the island’s defenses.
  • Redd left the others on the beach and walked toward the Dragonpit.

Ch. 183Atop Fire Peak

Redd flew to Stone Island’s largest volcanic crater on King Ghidorah and saw its churning lava. Meanwhile, Douglas and Jasent focused on carrying out Redd’s plans and protecting their positions.

  • Redd told Douglas to carry out his assigned tasks while he went to investigate the island’s largest volcanic crater.
  • King Ghidorah carried Redd toward the crater, with Ehm and Aegon following; Douglas watched the dragons depart before turning to his duties.
  • Douglas prepared to oversee laborers, miners, and smiths according to Redd’s standards, while Jasent carefully placed guards at Stone Island’s key locations.
  • Douglas and Jasent treated Rhaenyra with respect but continued following their own plans in accordance with Redd’s wishes.
  • Redd landed at the edge of the crater and looked down at the boiling lava.

Ch. 184Transformation

Redd planned how to turn a volcano into a Dragonpit and feed the many Dragons he hoped to hatch, deciding to build a fleet under Douglas. He then began spending 10,000 Energy Points to transform Ehm into a Dragon-Type Titan with a Titan’s bloodline.

  • Redd assessed the volcano and outlined the geological, heating, structural, ventilation, and ecological work needed to make it a Fire Peak for Dragons.
  • Worried that hundreds or thousands of Dragons would require more food than trade could provide, Redd considered sustainable ways to supply them without harming Westeros’s ecosystem.
  • Redd decided a fleet could fish for Dragon food, explore unknown waters, and trade with Essos’s City-States, and he chose Douglas to lead it.
  • Redd approached Ehm, soothed him, and prepared him on the volcano’s slope for a bloodline transformation.
  • Redd activated the system’s plus sign beside Ehm’s name, spending 10,000 Energy Points as Ehm’s body began radiating intense heat.

Ch. 185Growth

Ehm completed his transformation into a titan demon dragon, and Redd used 50,000 energy points to rapidly enhance King Ghidorah. King Ghidorah endured a painful growth process and finished his evolution with stronger scales, muscles, and wings.

  • Ehm transformed into a titan demon dragon, grew to 166 meters long, and fell into a deep sleep.
  • Redd checked his status and saw that he had 96,451 energy points remaining.
  • Redd told King Ghidorah about the painful enhancement, and King Ghidorah prepared in a secluded spot.
  • Redd spent 50,000 energy points to enhance King Ghidorah, whose body rapidly grew and healed through severe changes.
  • King Ghidorah silently endured the pain and completed his evolution as his final scale settled into place.

Ch. 186King Ghidorah's Growth

King Ghidorah completed a painful transformation, gained immense power, and unleashed a storm as it flew over the sea. Redd reviewed its new abilities and chose to let it vent its excitement, while realizing that its strength could bring greater challenges.

  • King Ghidorah finished transforming and roared as storms, winds, and lightning gathered around it.
  • King Ghidorah flew away over the sea, leaving Redd struggling against the storm until the crater grew calm.
  • Redd checked King Ghidorah's status and discovered its increased size and powerful new abilities.
  • Redd considered the attention King Ghidorah's strength might attract and felt both pressure and confidence about their future.
  • Redd sensed that King Ghidorah remained frenzied after its transformation and decided to let it enjoy its freedom.

Ch. 187Back to the castle

Redd spent the evening at the crater with Ehm and Aegon, reflecting on dragons and his bond with them. King Ghidorah returned, and Redd rode him back to the castle, where Ghidorah's mischievous landing left Redd laughing despite his motion sickness.

  • Redd stayed beside the sleeping Ehm and Aegon at the crater, considering dragons' resilience and his spiritual connection with them.
  • King Ghidorah returned from his day of play and affectionately lowered his three heads for Redd to pet.
  • Redd asked Aegon to watch over Ehm, then climbed onto King Ghidorah and rode toward the castle.
  • King Ghidorah made a rapid flight and performed a sliding, tail-swinging landing near the castle, leaving Redd feeling motion sick.
  • Redd recognized King Ghidorah had teased him, laughed, called him a rascal, and walked toward the castle.

Ch. 188Feeding

Redd returned to the castle, where King Ghidorah flew off toward the eastern beach and Redd enjoyed dinner as his strength continued to increase. After dismissing Rhaenyra’s warning about House Velaryon, he went to bathe, while she left in anger.

  • Redd reminded King Ghidorah not to wander far or damage the island, but its three heads exchanged looks and flew toward the eastern beach.
  • Redd ate dinner with Rhaenyra, Laena, and a pale, uneasy Laenor, feeling King Ghidorah’s transformation steadily increase his strength, defense, and stamina.
  • After dinner, Rhaenyra warned Redd that his actions could create conflict with House Velaryon and bring trouble to House Targaryen.
  • Redd called Rhaenyra a pawn for a marriage alliance and told her to know her place, leaving her angry and hurt.
  • Douglas prepared a bath, and Redd followed him to the bathing pool while Rhaenyra left in resentment.

Ch. 189Dragon Eggs

After surviving a poisoning without alarm, Redd waited for whoever was targeting him to reveal themselves. Jasent brought him eleven petrified Dragon Eggs from the Dragonpit, and Redd said special methods might still make them useful.

  • Redd's regeneration quickly purged the poison, and he decided to wait for his attackers to expose themselves.
  • An elderly-looking woman secretly moved with the speed and skill of a trained warrior, then searched the kitchens for leftover food and left puzzled when she found none.
  • Jasent entered Redd's bedroom with two subordinates carrying a heavy chest and said it had been found in the deepest part of the Dragonpit.
  • Redd opened the chest and found eleven petrified Dragon Eggs that had lost all signs of life.
  • After testing one egg with mana, Redd told Jasent that special methods might still make the eggs useful.

Ch. 190Construction

Redd restored one petrified Dragon Egg with the system’s healing function, stored all eleven eggs, and began planning work on Fire Peak and a new Dragonpit. After learning construction would take more than three days, he asked whether tripling the workforce and working day and night could speed it up.

  • Redd confirmed that the Dragonpit held only eleven Dragon Eggs and restored one of them, revealing its black scales to Jasent.
  • Redd calculated that he possessed 1,511 Dragon Eggs and saw that King Ghidorah’s next transformation required 100,000 energy points.
  • Redd stored the eleven petrified Dragon Eggs in his Pet Space and dismissed Jasent, who left determined to serve him loyally.
  • Redd drew blueprints for remodeling Fire Peak and building the Dragonpit, then ordered Douglas to begin construction with slaves.
  • Douglas estimated that the work would take a little over three days despite more workers arriving, and Redd asked whether tripling the workforce and digging day and night would shorten the schedule.

Ch. 191Wild dragons

Redd ordered compensation for islanders whose livestock had been taken by wild dragons, then summoned King Ghidorah to help deal with the dragons on Dragonstone. King Ghidorah caught Redd in its mouth and flew off with him, leaving Redd furious and demanding to be released.

  • Redd told Douglas to finish excavating the Dragonpit within a year and left him overseeing the work.
  • Jasent reported that islanders blamed Redd's dragon for missing livestock, and Redd ordered verified losses compensated at about seventy percent of market price.
  • Jasent investigated the claims strictly, paying only islanders whose livestock losses were confirmed and dismissing vague or fraudulent claims.
  • Redd decided to have King Ghidorah subdue Dragonstone's wild dragons and summoned it through their Mental Connection.
  • King Ghidorah flew back to Dragonstone and caught Redd in its mouth, and Redd shouted for it to open its mouth.

Ch. 192The summons

Redd bathed after King Ghidorah covered him in slime, then sent him to gather and control the Wild Dragons on Dragonstone. King Ghidorah summoned the island’s powerful creatures, and Cannibal arrived first.

  • King Ghidorah licked Redd, carried him high into the sky, and then took him down to the sea so he could wash.
  • King Ghidorah sprayed seawater at Redd, who blocked it with ice and restrained the dragon’s mouths with Ice Chains until he had finished bathing.
  • Redd rode King Ghidorah to Dragonstone’s center and ordered him to find the Wild Dragons and keep them under control.
  • King Ghidorah roared to summon the island’s powerful creatures while Redd soothed Aegon through their mental link and told him to keep watching Ehm.
  • Cannibal flew toward Redd and King Ghidorah after they waited for the summons to be answered.

Ch. 193Cannibal

Cannibal challenged King Ghidorah, but Redd ordered King Ghidorah not to kill it and moved aside to watch their fight. When both dragons charged, the much smaller King Ghidorah pinned Cannibal in their first head-on clash.

  • Cannibal arrived on Dragonstone and challenged King Ghidorah with a defiant roar.
  • Redd sensed King Ghidorah's murderous anger and ordered it not to kill Cannibal.
  • Redd leapt from King Ghidorah's head to a nearby rock to watch the fight without distracting it.
  • King Ghidorah spread its wings and answered Cannibal with a roar before both dragons attacked at once.
  • King Ghidorah pinned the much larger Cannibal to the ground in their head-on collision.

Ch. 194An overwhelming victory

King Ghidorah brutally overpowered Cannibal, who finally escaped by engulfing them both in green dragonfire. King Ghidorah pursued the burning Cannibal into the sky as Redd watched from afar.

  • King Ghidorah pinned Cannibal to the volcanic ground with his three heads and tore at his flesh and scales while Cannibal struggled in vain.
  • Cannibal, badly wounded and weakening, seized an opening and blasted King Ghidorah with emerald-green dragonfire, setting both of them ablaze.
  • Cannibal broke free amid the flames and smoke, then beat his wings and fled into the air.
  • King Ghidorah, still burning, took flight after Cannibal, and the flames falling from their bodies created a rain of green fire.
  • Redd watched the two burning dragons race across the sky as Cannibal fled in pain, crying out as the fire scorched him.

Ch. 195Showing No Mercy

King Ghidorah nearly killed Cannibal in their fight, leaving Redd to offer the wounded Dragon a choice between submitting and dying. Cannibal formed a mental connection with Redd, and Redd realized that the bond deeply affected a Dragon’s loyalty.

  • King Ghidorah caught Cannibal in midair and drove him into the ground, creating a huge crater.
  • Redd found Cannibal critically wounded and reprimanded King Ghidorah for nearly killing him.
  • Redd offered to heal Cannibal if he submitted, formed a mental connection, and fought for him.
  • Cannibal chose to submit and extended a mental connection to Redd.
  • Redd sensed that the bond would let him gradually assimilate Cannibal’s Mental Power and understood why Dragons were loyal to their Dragonriders.

Ch. 196Submission

Redd healed Cannibal with his vitality, restoring the dragon from near death, and discovered that Cannibal could live far longer than other dragons. After learning Cannibal knew nothing about his unusual longevity, Redd noticed King Ghidorah had mysteriously disappeared.

  • Cannibal collapsed into suspended animation, and Redd urgently used his power to heal him.
  • Cannibal recovered, stood up, roared, and affectionately nuzzled Redd as Redd soothed him through their Mental Connection.
  • Redd checked Cannibal's system panel and saw that Cannibal's maximum lifespan was 330 years, much longer than Ehm and Aegon's 220 years.
  • Redd asked Cannibal about his longevity, and Cannibal recalled being swept to Dragonstone by a storm in his youth but did not know why he lived so long.
  • Redd wondered whether Dragonstone's environment explained Cannibal's lifespan and planned to investigate it later.
  • Redd looked for King Ghidorah and discovered that he had vanished without explanation.

Ch. 197Sheepstealer

Redd discovered King Ghidorah had subdued a brown dragon and identified it as Sheepstealer, the “Mud Dragon.” After Sheepstealer panicked at the sight of Cannibal and tried to flee, Redd ordered King Ghidorah to quiet it down, and King Ghidorah pinned it to the ground.

  • Redd climbed out of the scorched pit and saw King Ghidorah kicking a curled-up dragon while lashing it with his tails.
  • Redd approached with Cannibal, who followed at his side with surprising deference.
  • King Ghidorah stopped attacking and proudly showed Redd the brown dragon he had subdued.
  • The brown dragon saw Cannibal, panicked, and tried to escape, but King Ghidorah seized its tail and hind legs with his three heads.
  • Redd recognized the dragon as Sheepstealer and ordered King Ghidorah to quiet it down.
  • King Ghidorah slammed Sheepstealer to the ground and pinned its wings beneath his heads.

Ch. 198A cowardly dragon

Redd stopped King Ghidorah from killing Sheepstealer and told it to hold the dragon down instead. When Sheepstealer saw Cannibal, it panicked and quickly established a Mental Connection with Redd in exchange for his protection, leaving Redd to comfort it and signal King Ghidorah to let it go.

  • Redd stopped King Ghidorah from using its Gravity Beams and instructed it to pin Sheepstealer without killing it.
  • King Ghidorah bit Sheepstealer's neck and slammed it to the ground, leaving it stunned.
  • After waking, Sheepstealer saw Cannibal and reacted with intense fear.
  • Redd offered Sheepstealer protection from Cannibal if it submitted and established a Mental Connection with him.
  • Sheepstealer immediately formed the Mental Connection, and Redd soothed it before signaling King Ghidorah to release it.

Ch. 199A True Coward

Redd reassured Sheepstealer that Cannibal would not attack him without orders, then checked the dragon’s stats and wondered where the other Wild Dragons had gone. King Ghidorah explained that the summons had already been enough, and Redd set off with the three dragons to search Dragonstone.

  • King Ghidorah obediently left Sheepstealer, who stayed curled on the ground and sought protection beside Redd.
  • Redd ordered Cannibal not to attack Sheepstealer without permission, and Cannibal agreed through a growl.
  • Sheepstealer relaxed and fawned over Redd, while Cannibal snorted at him and Sheepstealer hid behind Redd.
  • Redd checked Sheepstealer’s stats and learned his maximum lifespan was 220 years, then wondered whether other Wild Dragons remained on Dragonstone.
  • Redd asked King Ghidorah to roar again, punched him after sensing his scorn, and heard that any dragons willing to answer the summons would already have come.
  • Redd decided to search Dragonstone with the three dragons and climbed onto King Ghidorah’s back.

Ch. 200Searching for wild dragons

Redd searched Dragonstone with Cannibal, Sheepstealer, and King Ghidorah, then sent King Ghidorah into a crevice after spotting a pale grayish-white dragon. King Ghidorah found the wounded dragon underground and attacked, but it retaliated with dragonfire.

  • Redd and the three dragons patrolled Dragonstone from the air.
  • Cannibal roared at a shadow near a volcano, and Redd spotted what he believed was a dragon slipping into a crack in the rock.
  • Redd sent King Ghidorah into the crack to capture the dragon alive while he waited outside with Cannibal and Sheepstealer.
  • King Ghidorah followed tracks into a vast underground cavern and found a wounded pale grayish-white dragon in a dry cave.
  • King Ghidorah lunged at the dragon, which fought back by breathing blazing orange-red dragonfire.
