Gu Bai and Chu Zeshen spent the afternoon at their café before Chu took Gu Bai to the hotel where he had first seen Mocha for another part of Gu Bai’s birthday celebration. The chapter left them heading to their reserved restaurant on the hotel’s top floor with Mocha and Brandy.
For Gu Bai’s birthday, Chu Zeshen prepared a private dinner, sang to him, and took him to the presidential suite for the night. The chapter ended with Chu Zeshen carrying Gu Bai into the bedroom, where Gu Bai told him to call him “husband.”
After spending his birthday weekend in the presidential suite with Chu Zeshen, Gu Bai woke sore and exhausted, then teased Chu Zeshen while he massaged his back. They returned home on Sunday, where Mocha greeted Gu Bai with excitement and a hint of grievance.
Gu Bai returned home after several days of recovering from his time with Chu Zeshen, while Mocha behaved strangely around him and Brandy. Xie Wen arrived to take Brandy home, and Mocha’s unusual actions remained unexplained.
Mocha repeatedly stopped Gu Bai from carrying heavy luggage, prompting Xie Wen to joke that Gu Bai might be pregnant and leaving Chu Zeshen visibly unsettled by the suggestion. Later, Uncle Li recounted Mocha barking when Gu Bai tried to get a coffee cup, and Chu Zeshen heard that the cupboard had been fine.
Gu Bai and Chu Zeshen discussed Mocha’s unusual protectiveness, then Gu Bai realized it had begun after Chu Zeshen told the dog he was tired. The conversation ended with Chu Zeshen teasing Gu Bai about pregnancy while massaging his lower back.
Gu Bai tried to keep Chu Zeshen out of his room for the night, but Chu Zeshen later sneaked in with Mocha’s help and joined him in bed. As the year-end preparations began, Gu Bai’s success at work helped quiet the company elders’ objections.
Gu Haisheng rejected the directors’ complaints about Gu Bai and supported his son’s management, while Gu Bai and Chu Zeshen’s joint banquet appearances drew attention to their marriage. Elder Chu celebrated the change in his grandson’s life by teasing his friends about their unmarried grandsons.
Elder Chu prepared the Old Residence for Gu Bai and Chu Zeshen’s New Year’s Eve visit, while Mocha arrived early and kept him company. When Gu Bai and Chu Zeshen arrived, the family shared dinner, and Chu Zeshen happily found himself ranked below Mocha.
Elder Chu entrusted Gu Bai with caring for Chu Zeshen, and Gu Bai and Chu Zeshen welcomed the New Year together with Mocha, exchanging declarations of love. A side story then showed how the families arranged Chu Zeshen and Gu Bai’s childhood betrothal and how little Chu Zeshen eagerly awaited the birth of his “little sister.”
Mrs. Gu gave birth to a healthy boy, surprising the family who had expected a girl, and she and the baby went home after five days. While the Chu Family cared for Elder Chu, Chu Zeshen missed his little sister so much that he cried himself sick under the covers.
Little Chu Zeshen worried that his little sister might find a better big brother, and Mrs. Chu reassured him without telling him the baby was actually a boy. When the family visited the Gu family, he learned the truth and ran back to Mrs. Chu in tears, still insisting he wanted a little sister.
