"Who... are these people?"
After seeing those "people" with no trace of life, Mo Ling took a deep breath.
This was far too bizarre.
His gaze fell upon those "people," and he could even see their pores. Their bodily structures were no different from those of normal humans, yet Mo Ling simply felt that they were not human. They lacked some kind of aura unique to humans, seeming more like creations made in imitation of humanity...
"They have no souls."
For some reason, Mo Ling blurted out his judgment.
Hearing Mo Ling's assessment, Martin silently nodded. "You're right. They truly have no souls. Their souls are in other Dream Layers. The versions of them here are merely hollow bodies."
"Dream Layers?" Hearing this strange term, Mo Ling hurriedly pressed for more information.
"Looks like you've forgotten. Let me explain it to you properly. It begins with a Relic called—Dream."
Martin began with the Dreamscape Sect that had discovered Dream, then spoke of their Cult Master, the various structures within the Dream, and the bed and canopy of Dream Layer 0.
These explanations finally cleared up some of Mo Ling's confusion, but he still did not know why Martin had brought him here.
"Look upward. You should be able to see that canopy."
Following Martin's words, Mo Ling's gaze gradually drifted upward. Sure enough, he saw the enormous Text Canopy. Every character was clearly etched into the sky, like clouds reshaped into letters, or the Star River hanging at the edge of heaven—seemingly undulating, yet utterly unwavering.
"I see it..." Mo Ling said in astonishment, his mouth hanging open.
Although Martin had already told him about the Text Canopy, seeing it with his own eyes still drew a gasp of awe from Mo Ling. It was simply too breathtaking.
