Mo Ling could tell that Director Wang had been under a great deal of pressure lately.
That pressure might have come from higher authorities, from within the research institute, or from his own heart.
By middle age, many things became more than one could handle. The creativity of youth was gone, and energy and focus had begun to decline. The worries constantly rising from within made it difficult for the head of the institute to face research that had ground to a halt.
Mo Ling knew that Director Wang's words seemed to be directed at the Cube, but were actually meant for himself.
Mo Ling was not actually that eager to learn the so-called "answer." Though he was equally lost, he felt a faint sense of peace, as if he had long grown used to that confusion.
Had I remained in this state the whole time I was in the Abyss, and gotten used to it?
Seeing how anxious Director Wang looked, Mo Ling picked up the electronic screen and began writing words of comfort on it.
Then he teleported the electronic screen and a can of cola onto Director Wang's desk.
"You've already done an amazing job..."
"Try this. You won't feel so troubled afterward."
Mo Ling was not very good at comforting people. He only knew that people needed something "sweet" to distract them from their pain.
Director Wang looked at the words on the electronic screen, then at the can of cola. A bitter smile tugged at his lips. He picked up the cola, awkwardly pulled open the tab, and cautiously took a sip.
After tasting it, he frowned at first, seemingly unaccustomed to the flavor. But as it spread across his mouth, he slowly accepted it. His brow relaxed, and a dim light appeared in his
