"Good morning, Petilil."
Seeing that the Petilil in his arms had woken up, Fang Yan stopped what he was doing and greeted her with a smile.
"Petilil."
At the sound of Petilil's sweet voice beside his ear, Fang Yan froze.
[Breeder 4: Under your excellent care, Petilil successfully took that step and overcame her fear.] [Received Petilil's gift: Miracle Seed.] [Miracle Seed: When held by a Pokémon, it boosts the power of Grass-type moves.]
Looking at the seed resting on the leaves atop Petilil's head, Fang Yan picked it up and held it in the rising sunlight. Its markings were clear and beautiful.
Am I going to have to get all the items for my Pokémon Day Care off the Pokémon themselves?
The thought crossed Fang Yan's mind, and then he put the Miracle Seed away.
"I heard Miracle Seeds can be used in cooking, too. I wonder what they taste like."
Fang Yan murmured to himself.
Hearing this, Gengar instantly appeared beside Fang Yan.
"Gengar-"
"No, that's too extravagant. We need to use it to make money."
Fang Yan pushed the drooling Gengar away and handed him the scissors. Then he put Petilil down, went over to the well, and connected the hose.
He had Torterra lie down, then rinsed him off with the hose.
Torterra narrowed his eyes, enjoying the rush of water. Gengar produced a towel and some body wash from somewhere and started bathing beside him.
Looking at Gengar covered in bubbles, Fang Yan rolled his eyes. Then he turned the hose toward Petilil, covering the opening with his hand to soften the flow as he gently watered her.
Once Gengar was almost done washing, he aimed the hose at him and pinched it with his thumb.
Whoosh~
Gengar went flying under the stream of water.
Looking at Gengar playing dead, then at Petilil and the others, Fang Yan held the hose in the warm morning sunshine and suddenly felt the urge to capture this moment.
Once the washing was finished, Fang Yan told Gengar to clean up and returned to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
While breakfast was cooking, he took a moment to ask Xia Lan about it, then bought a camera and some picture frames on her recommendation.
After breakfast, Gengar went to the kitchen to wash the dishes without being asked, while the other Pokémon patrolled the backyard or basked in the sun.
Fang Yan returned to the front, opened the doors, and hung up the "Open for business" sign. Then he reclined in the chair by the counter and began reading the Pokéblock manual he had received as a reward.
After finishing his bath, Gengar floated out to the backyard to check on the herb garden and vegetable patch, pestered Vespiquen and the others, and finally played with Petilil for a while before returning to the front. Passing through the wall, he saw Fang Yan absorbed in his book, the fan beside him gently stirring the bangs over his forehead. Everything seemed so lovely.
Gengar grinned and chuckled softly, then picked up a broom and quietly began sweeping the Pokémon Day Care.
Catching sight of Gengar wiggling his little bottom as he swept, Fang Yan smiled and returned to his manual.
I'm already starting to like this life, even if I haven't made any money yet.
Fang Yan thought to himself.
Twinleaf Town.
Officer Jenny stepped out of a villa and nodded to the couple at the entrance.
Overjoyed, the couple hurried inside.
Nurse Joy handed Officer Jenny a bottle of water as she walked up beside her. Officer Jenny took it and drank more than half in one go.
"This is the third time this week."
Officer Jenny complained to her close friend.
With her hands folded in front of her, Nurse Joy looked at her close friend and said with a smile:
"Thanks for your hard work."
"I think we should find a way to resolve this once and for all."
Hearing Officer Jenny's words, Nurse Joy nodded in agreement.
"But problems of the heart aren't that easy to solve."
Nurse Joy sighed.
Standing in a patch of shade amid the sunshine, Nurse Joy looked up at the villa's second floor. A little girl with delicate features lived there.
But because her parents had been away for long periods, and the butler they had hired had subjected her to prolonged violence, she had developed severe psychological symptoms.
She was afraid to speak to anyone and afraid to go outside.
By the time her parents learned about it and rushed home, her symptoms were already very severe.
Her parents immediately quit their jobs and took her everywhere in search of treatment. It had barely any effect and instead made her even more afraid of crowds.
She often hid in corners of the house, refusing to come out no matter how much her parents called to her or comforted her.
Because Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny had often visited to keep her company before, they were now the only ones who could calm her down when they came over.
Things had grown even worse this week.
Only one of them could go inside at a time.
Nurse Joy sighed. She did not know whom to turn to for help, either.
While Nurse Joy was lost in thought, the couple came out of the villa.
They thanked Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny over and over.
"Has little Shauna still not gotten any better?"
A voice reached them from outside the villa.
Turning around, they saw a kindly old woman standing at the gate.
The couple nodded, sighed, and began talking with her.
Nurse Joy remembered her. She ran a seed shop.
The old woman spoke with the couple for a while, then sighed. "Such a good child."
With that, she turned to leave, but a young face flashed through her mind, and she paused.
Looking back, she said, "If you can, you could give that newly opened Pokémon Day Care a try. I took my old fellow there yesterday, and the results were quite unexpected."
Then she left.
Hearing this, Nurse Joy froze, recalling what had happened with Petilil not long ago.
"Xiao Shui, could she be talking about..."
At Officer Jenny's words, Nurse Joy came back to her senses, looked at her, and nodded.
"Fang Yan can do this, too?"
Officer Jenny frowned as she spoke.
Nurse Joy told her about Petilil.
After hearing Nurse Joy out, Officer Jenny thought for a while before saying, "I think we could give it a try. What do you think?"
Nurse Joy also considered it for a while before nodding.
Once they had agreed, one went to discuss it with the couple while the other took out her phone to ask Fang Yan's opinion.
After receiving Fang Yan's reply, Nurse Joy glanced at Officer Jenny. Officer Jenny nodded and walked into the villa, emerging a little while later with a little girl with delicate features.
Everyone got into the car and followed Officer Jenny's motorcycle toward the Pokémon Day Care.
Meanwhile, Fang Yan lay in his chair, holding his phone, looking somewhat distracted.
Gengar was sitting beside him, watching Ditto's Adventures.
"A little girl who's been hurt emotionally?"
Fang Yan murmured to himself. He was not confident about this, either.
On the other end of the phone, Nurse Joy had said he only needed to do his best and give it a try.
Fang Yan sat up, and Gengar looked over at him.
He told Gengar about it, intending to discuss how they should handle the matter.
