Background / History
Rescue and arrival at the Day Care
Gothitelle was once driven away because her psychic power was too strong to control. While wandering, she transformed into Gothita while protecting Pokémon. She later deliberately allowed Pokémon Hunters to capture her so that she could protect their captives 156 157.
Following her rescue, Gothita helped care for injured Pokémon alongside Mime Jr. She also assisted Fang Yan's cooking by levitating a knife and vegetables, chopping the ingredients almost instantly. Initially shy, she blushed when thanked 64.
Gothita became attached to Mime Jr. and treated him as her younger brother. Fang Yan invited her to the Pokémon Day Care, explaining that the rescued Pokémon would need care and that Mime Jr. wanted her company. Her later profile identifies caring for Mime Jr. as her reason for joining the household 65 157.
Choosing protection
During the confrontation with Moltres, Gothita remembered Professor Rowan asking what she intended to do with her great power. Realizing that she wanted to protect others, she transformed into Gothitelle and helped stop Moltres's Burn Up 156.
Her post-transformation profile describes her as confident and competitive, with maximum recorded friendship toward Fang Yan. It explicitly connects her growth to learning how her power could help the people and Pokémon she cherished 157.
Gothitelle's Time Cottage
Fang Yan rented a busy shop near Shauna's school and the Pokémon Center in Twinleaf Town. Renovated in one afternoon, it contained sections for cakes, bread, desserts, snacks, traditional Chinese medicine, and herbal tea. He named it Gothitelle's Little Time Shop, also known as the Time Cottage 187 222.
The cottage became an informal gathering place for children whose working parents could not collect them promptly after school. Parents opened a neighboring room for homework and play, and Gothitelle agreed to supervise it. A girl's school essay named the cottage as the place that made her happiest, helping Gothitelle recognize its value as a source of cherished childhood memories 222.
Gothitelle continued operating the shop alongside the care class. She welcomed children and Pokémon to play together, arranged school pickups, and personally escorted children home when their safety was a concern 302 372.
Household and League responsibilities
At the Day Care, Gothitelle became responsible for much of the cooking and knew everyone's eating habits in detail. Even after exhausting herself during an overnight operation, she returned early to prepare breakfast, prompting Fang Yan to consider finding more kitchen helpers 261 352.
Fang Yan later trained her to handle administrative work. For Unova League affairs, he supplied suggestions while she polished and wrote them up. She independently handled routine paperwork but brought particularly important matters to him 518 560.
Steven and Wallace were so impressed that they asked whether their Pokémon could study paperwork under her. Gothitelle, unaware of their plans, experienced an ominous feeling about the future of her own species 560.
Appearance
Gothitelle has a mature, elegant appearance, with a predominantly black body and a dress-like silhouette 157.
- Face and hands: Purple, with blue eyes and a red mouth 157.
- Head: Eight disk-shaped, bun-like structures extend from its sides; a white bow sits behind a protruding horn 157.
- Dress: Black and shaped like a Christmas tree, decorated with four white bows; later passages describe it as a court dress 157 451.
- Wrists: White bracelet-like markings 157.
- Psychic exertion: Her eyes shine with an eerie purple light when she releases her power 346 521.
Personality
Gothitelle is nurturing, diligent, and strongly protective. She regards Mime Jr. as a younger brother, supports the Day Care as a family, and takes satisfaction in being useful to Fang Yan. Her care extends beyond the household to the children attending the Time Cottage 157 222 352 362.
Her gentleness coexists with firm discipline. She throws an idle Fang Yan into an overwhelmed kitchen, enforces bedtime, and refuses to treat the nonfatal stings of Pokémon who stole Vespiquen's Honey, insisting that they learn from their behavior 265 272 425.
She dislikes arrogance and disrespect toward Trainers. She deliberately humbles a disobedient Garchomp and takes Alain's dismissal of Pokémon unable to Mega Evolve personally. When Fang Yan is threatened or unfairly accused, her usual mildness can give way to an intimidating, cold anger 162 521 607.
Despite her reputation for dependability, Gothitelle privately complains about constantly cleaning up after others. She is also demanding of herself: after defeating Alain's Mega Charizard, she interprets coughing up blood as evidence that she needs more training and hides the injury to avoid being laughed at by the other Pokémon 285 521 560.

- Takes numerous hits from Leon's Dragapult and Inteleon before still delivering a decisive Z-Move 583.

Future Sight and Shattered Psyche
Gothitelle combines delayed psychic attacks with restraint, defensive endurance, and Fang Yan's Z-Move commands 361 521 583.
- Future Sight: Sends psychic energy into temporal rifts, allowing an attack to arrive after the opponent has committed to another action 521 583.
- Restraint combinations: Attempts to hold Mega Charizard in place with Psychic as Future Sight approaches 521.
- Shattered Psyche: Converts her enormous psychic reserves into destructive waves through Psychic-type Z power 361.
- Demonstrated force: Blasts apart Giratina's Shadow Ball during an arranged test and defeats Leon's Inteleon after Future Sight has struck it 473 583.
Herbal Medicine and Pharmacology
Gothitelle develops and brews traditional Chinese medicines, herbal teas, and topical treatments. Her special ointment's description explicitly credits her with a distinctive talent for pharmacology 185 425.
- Cooling remedy: Develops a mint-based medicine with Blissey; Fang Yan expands the formula, and Nurse Joy plans Pokémon Center testing 185.

- Knitting: Makes hats for Pokémon and children and gives Fang Yan three sweaters 272.
- Business work: Serves customers, records boarding requests, and brings incoming Pokémon to the Day Care 302 351.
- League administration: Writes up Fang Yan's proposals and handles routine affairs while escalating important decisions 518 560.
