Chapters 876–886 Vol. 9 Read

Ch. 876Everyone was an actor

Hiruzen accepted the end of the old leadership’s control and withdrew the motion against the Medical Department, while Tsunade reflected on Senju Chen’s hidden urgency. In the Land of Rain, Obito confronted Nagato’s disguise and offered to help protect the country.

  • Shikaku backed Senju Chen and Tsunade, and Hiruzen ordered Koharu and Homura to withdraw the impeachment motion.
  • Hiruzen left Tsunade a message warning that Chen’s fire might destroy Konoha’s roots.
  • Tsunade watched Konoha and wondered how long Chen had been away, sensing that he was racing against a grave threat.
  • Obito arrived at Hanzō’s former residence and accused Nagato of controlling Yahiko’s corpse with a secret technique.
  • Nagato admitted only that Obito had seen through the disguise and challenged him for daring to come.
  • Obito offered Nagato help, arguing that he could not defend the entire Land of Rain against the great nations alone.

Ch. 877The origins of the Tailed Beasts

Obito urged Nagato and Konan to pursue a plan to capture the Nine Tailed Beasts, revive the Ten-Tails, and force peace upon the Shinobi World. Nagato rejected his demand to summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, and Obito left Akatsuki with a list of S-rank missing-nin to recruit.

  • Obito argued that the great nations would never allow the Land of Rain to become a paradise and proposed capturing all Nine Tailed Beasts as the path to peace.
  • Obito explained that sealing the Nine Tailed Beasts into the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path would revive the Ten-Tails and give them power to end war.
  • Nagato, pretending to be Yahiko, questioned Obito’s claims and asked where the Demonic Statue was.
  • Obito said Nagato could summon the statue with the Rinnegan, but Nagato claimed he had tried before and lacked the chakra to do so.
  • Black Zetsu insisted Nagato could summon the statue by expending chakra and life force, but Nagato refused to risk his life for it.
  • Obito backed off and gave Nagato a list of S-rank missing-nin, telling Akatsuki to recruit them.

Ch. 878Each with their own agenda

Nagato and Senju Chen agreed to stall Obito until he found the Demonic Statue, while Obito planned to force Akatsuki into collecting the Tailed Beasts. At the underground base, Fū and Utakata settled into their new lives and learned how much the base had improved their strength and control.

  • After Obito left, Senju Chen told Nagato and Konan to delay him and insist that Akatsuki would not capture Tailed Beasts without the Demonic Statue.
  • Obito dismissed Black Zetsu's doubts about Nagato and said Nagato had compromised because Amegakure was vulnerable to other nations.
  • Obito warned Black Zetsu not to mention Minazuki Yuki or the events in the Land of Water again.
  • Obito ordered Black Zetsu to send the missing-nin roster to Amegakure in batches to draw the Shinobi World's attention to Akatsuki.
  • Fū wondered whether Senju Chen would make her fight, while Chōmei reassured her that the base was safe and Senju Chen did not need to use them as weapons.
  • Utakata told Fū that her medicine was a routine base supply and reflected that the base's training and potions had strengthened him and improved his control over his Tailed Beast.

Ch. 879Just Play Along with His Act for Now

Senju Chen planned how the Akatsuki would stall Madara, keep control of the missing-nin he wanted to recruit, and delay the summoning of the Demonic Statue. After Yahiko and Nagato left the control room, Konan remained alone with Chen.

  • Yahiko condemned Madara for massacring Shimoyodo, and Senju Chen said Madara used peace as a veneer for his selfish desires.
  • Nagato reported that Madara wanted him to summon the Demonic Statue, and Chen told him to claim the Rinnegan would kill him if he tried.
  • Chen ordered the Akatsuki to accept Madara's list of missing-nin and use White Zetsu Puppets to keep them under control.
  • Chen tasked Yahiko with securing the Land of Rain and told Nagato to stall Madara while the Akatsuki rebuilt its strength.
  • Yahiko noticed Konan's attention to Chen, then dragged Nagato out and shut the soundproof door, leaving Konan and Chen alone.

Ch. 880A girl's love, hard to confess

Senju Chen planned to take Shukaku from Sunagakure to complete his collection of tailed beasts, then shared a quiet, affectionate moment with Konan at the base. He thanked her for the paper flower she had made for him and tucked it over his heart.

  • Senju Chen reviewed his system and decided Sunagakure was the easiest target for acquiring Shukaku.
  • Senju Chen planned to head to Sunagakure, where Gaara had been sealed with Shukaku.
  • Konan brought Senju Chen tea and received his praise for confronting Obito over the people of Shimoyodo Village.
  • Konan gave Senju Chen a handmade blue paper flower containing mint juice to refresh his mind and help him sleep.
  • Senju Chen teased Konan about adding a personal blessing, then thanked her and put the flower in his inner pocket.

Ch. 881Heading to the Land of Wind

Senju Chen left the Land of Rain for Sunagakure after reassuring Konan and accepting her chakra-marked paper crane. In the Land of Wind, he encountered four wandering ninja and trapped them in terror with his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, prompting his system to offer their abilities.

  • Senju Chen told Konan he was heading to Sunagakure and asked her to help Nagato and Yahiko guard the Land of Rain.
  • Konan gave Senju Chen a chakra-marked paper crane so she could locate him if the base faced an emergency.
  • Senju Chen crossed the Land of Wind’s border Gobi, protected from some of the desert heat by Konan’s paper lotus.
  • Senju Chen sensed four wandering ninja preparing an ambush and challenged them to come out.
  • Senju Chen used his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan to overwhelm the four attackers with an illusion, and his system presented abilities he could steal from them.

Ch. 882The Kazekage Became a Miner?

Senju Chen received intelligence about Sunagakure’s poverty and the danger posed by Gaara, its young Jinchūriki. After learning that his Food Is Heaven business had become deeply established in the village, he decided to go there himself and ordered Jūbei to arrange him a cover identity.

  • Senju Chen reached Food Is Heaven’s headquarters in the Land of Wind’s capital and met with its chief administrator, Yagyū Jūbei.
  • Jūbei reported that Sunagakure’s funding had been cut and that Fourth Kazekage Rasa mined gold with Anbu to pay village expenses.
  • Jūbei explained that Gaara’s unstable seal and sleeplessness had caused Shukaku’s chakra to destroy a street, after which Rasa confined him under heavy guard.
  • Jūbei reported that Food Is Heaven supplied fresh food and rations to Sunagakure’s residents, leaders, and Gaara’s guards.
  • Senju Chen told Jūbei to prepare a plausible identity so he could enter Sunagakure personally.

Ch. 883Infiltrating Sunagakure

Senju Chen infiltrated Sunagakure through Food Is Heaven’s cellar and learned that the village’s northwest isolation zone housed its Jinchūriki. He decided to deliver the next day’s food there himself, despite Furukawa’s warning about the guards and the danger of the tailed beast.

  • Senju Chen arrived in the cellar and disarmed Furukawa’s poisoned-blade attack with a flick of his finger.
  • Furukawa reported that Sunagakure’s barrier maintenance and Food Is Heaven’s inspection-exempt deliveries offered a way to move goods into the village.
  • Furukawa told Senju Chen that the northwest isolation zone was guarded by twenty-four Anbu death warriors and housed the Jinchūriki.
  • Senju Chen connected the Jinchūriki’s condition to Shukaku’s unstable seal and learned that the isolation zone ordered food from the restaurant every day.
  • Senju Chen put on a wind scarf and announced that he would deliver the next day’s takeout himself, silencing Furukawa with his chilling aura.

Ch. 884Part-time deliveryman

Senju Chen began delivering Food Is Heaven meals through impoverished Sunagakure, using sealing scrolls to keep the food hot and fresh. He delivered orders to the Kato Clan and Ebizo, collecting generous tips and an extra request for tomorrow.

  • Senju Chen put on a Food Is Heaven delivery uniform and loaded sealed meals onto a specialized wooden rack.
  • Senju Chen walked through Sunagakure, where villagers looked on enviously at the food he carried.
  • Senju Chen delivered Lord Kato's meal to the Kato Clan residence and accepted gold as a tip.
  • The Kato Clan's guard asked Senju Chen to prioritize Lord Kato's breakfast delivery the next morning.
  • Senju Chen delivered sablefish soup to Ebizo and agreed to add osmanthus milk pudding to tomorrow's order.

Ch. 885The "noble" deliveryman

Senju Chen finished his deliveries to Sunagakure’s officials and brought food to the guarded northwestern quarantine zone. He left the Anbu stationed there with a special meal, while the danger inside the zone remained unresolved.

  • Senju Chen delivered food to more than sixty Sunagakure higher-ups and saw how eagerly they welcomed Food Is Heaven’s supplies.
  • At the Kazekage’s office, Senju Chen handed over Rasa’s coarse-flour meat soup and collected the meager payment from the Anbu Captain.
  • Senju Chen headed to the northwestern quarantine zone with four specially marked delivery scrolls, leaving his lighthearted attitude behind.
  • Four Anbu guards confronted Senju Chen at the zone’s sensory barrier and warned him that trespassers would die.
  • Senju Chen identified himself as a deliveryman and placed a scroll containing four extra-large bentos and hot soup on a stone pedestal for the guards.

Ch. 886Probing the One-Tail Jinchuriki

Senju Chen delivered a meal to the Anbu guarding Gaara and secretly used his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan to observe the imprisoned child. Gaara remained trapped in the sealed chamber, exhausted and tormented by Shukaku, as he wondered whether he should ever have been born.

  • The Anbu inspected and opened Senju Chen’s lunch scroll, then paid him and asked him to bring braised venison the next day.
  • While the Anbu focused on the food, Senju Chen secretly sent his mental power through Sunagakure’s barriers and saw Gaara imprisoned inside the stone house.
  • Senju Chen reflected on Gaara’s suffering and blamed Rasa for treating the child as a weapon.
  • After Senju Chen left, Gaara remained awake for a fourth day as Shukaku urged him to sleep and take over his body.
  • Gaara feared Rasa and the villagers’ hatred, then wondered what his mother had looked like and whether he should have been born.
