At last, it was Wen Yang's turn. His camera was still pointed at the stall, and when he caught the delicious aroma wafting from the chive pockets, he changed his mind about buying just two to try.

He was a burly man standing 1.9 meters tall, with an appetite to match. Tempted by that aroma, he was practically drooling.

"Boss, I'll have five chive pockets and five scallion pancakes!"

"Um, are you okay with me filming your stall to promote it? I'm a food blogger, and I'd like to review your food."

Shen Chuan nodded slightly. "Sure. You've got a good eye."

[Ding! Show-off Points +50!]

Wen Yang let out a bewildered "Huh?" His brain had short-circuited.

Who was he? A food blogger with an audience of his own. Filming a food stall meant giving it more exposure.

Everywhere else, the owners welcomed him enthusiastically. Why did this owner make it sound as if coming here to film a review meant he had a good eye?

Was that right?

Wen Yang scratched his head, unsure how to respond for a moment. He stumbled over his words before saying, "Then I'll have to taste these chive pockets you, the God of Cooking, made and see what they're really like. Let me make this clear first: I never lie in my videos. Sincerity is how I win my fans over."

Shen Chuan was already ready to fry the remaining chive pockets, which made just enough for a batch. At those words, he raised an eyebrow and said unhurriedly, "People who pay others to fake reviews do it because their cooking isn't good enough. I don't need you to fake anything."

[Ding! Show-off Points +20!]

His bold attitude and confident words left Wen Yang stunned. Just then, the five chive pockets were packed and ready.

He hurriedly picked up the chive pockets, moved his tripod, and went to wait off to the side for his scallion pancakes.

Originally, he had planned to get a close-up of the chive pockets, then film everything together once the scallion pancakes were ready. That would look better on camera and make the spread seem larger.

But the aroma of those chive pockets kept finding its way into his nose.

The other customers around him were also eating while waiting for their scallion pancakes. With everyone eating, he could no longer resist either.

For the sake of filming, Wen Yang still held back his craving long enough to find an empty spot nearby. He set his tripod on the ground, with the little convenience store behind him as his backdrop, and stood there eating a chive pocket on the spot.

The piping-hot chive pockets were wrapped in paper bags, a thoughtful touch. Plastic bags would trap the steam and make them soften in no time, whereas paper bags had no such problem.

Wen Yang picked up a chive pocket and took a gentle bite. The wrapper was so thin that even that tiny bite reached the filling.

Through the wrapper, just the slightest touch against his tongue was enough for him to taste how delicious the filling was.

Cooked through by the hot oil, the chives were not greasy in the least. There was only a lingering savory freshness, wrapped around finely crumbled egg. All that delicious flavor was sealed inside the little wrapper, rushing through the opening he had bitten into it and onto his tongue.

That savory freshness felt as though it had opened up a whole new world of flavor. One moment, the scorching summer heat had left his mouth feeling bland, with nothing tasting appetizing.

The next, that aroma brought his taste buds to life. His appetite surged, and all he wanted was to feast.

"Is this really what a chive pocket is supposed to taste like?"

Wen Yang found it unbelievable. Anyone who could become a food blogger was, at the very least, an experienced eater. He lowered the chive pocket and examined the filling closely.

It was simply chives and crumbled egg.

So how had this owner made such a simple chive-and-egg pocket taste so delicious?

It was so savory it could knock his eyebrows off!

"TV really didn't lie. High-end ingredients only need simple cooking... wait, no..."

He slapped his forehead. "These ingredients aren't high-end either! So that can only mean one thing: this owner's cooking skills are seriously fucking amazing."

He took another huge bite right where he had bitten before.

Before, he had only sampled it. Now, he was digging in.

When a huge mouthful of delicious filling burst in his mouth, the sensation was pure pleasure. What surprised him most was how different the wrapper tasted, too. In big bites, it was simply fragrant, crisp, and delicious, but when he chewed carefully, it seemed to have layers.

Holding up the chive pocket again, Wen Yang examined its wrapper and discovered the truth.

"Dude, that's incredible! The wrapper on this humble chive pocket actually has layers! This is just a chive pocket from a street stall! Does it really need this much care?"

By now, Wen Yang no longer had the slightest thought that the owner was bragging. With cooking skills this impressive, if he wasn't the God of Cooking, who was?

He had eaten so many delicious things throughout his life, yet now that he thought about it carefully, this chive pocket was actually the most stunning, the most delicious of them all!

No wonder that regular customer earlier had gone into his own vegetable plot to cut chives just so he could eat these chive pockets. That wasn't an exaggeration. Not in the slightest!

Putting himself in that customer's shoes, if he had suddenly tasted such a delicious snack and just experienced the happiness good food brought to life, only for the owner to make scallion pancakes he was allergic to, he would have done everything he could to find ingredients and ask the owner to cook them, too.

Only after polishing off three chive pockets in one go did Wen Yang realize that he seemed to have been too busy eating to film any close-ups.

He immediately thrust the fourth chive pocket, which he had already bitten into, in front of the camera, giving it a thorough close-up from every angle.

These chive pockets were "toxic"! As dedicated as he was to his work, this was the first time eating had made him forget to film!

Back at the stall, Lu Xiaotao was also waiting in line.

A few days earlier, when he had passed this stall and bought chive pockets, he had heard from a neighboring vendor that it was the owner's very first day in business.

As the chive pocket stall's very first customer, Lu Xiaotao had fallen completely in love with the food after trying it.

Before leaving, he had even asked whether the owner would be back the next day. The owner had indeed set up his stall the next day, but Lu Xiaotao hadn't had time: his boss had packed him off on an out-of-town business trip.

Lu Xiaotao was suffering. Lu Xiaotao didn't want to talk about it.

After spending several days out of town, he had finally finished the work and returned. The moment he got off work, he eagerly hurried to the food street, thinking that with this much enthusiasm, he ought to get the chive pockets he craved right away.

Who knew that when he reached the food street-good grief-he would find the stall but not the end of the line? In the end, he had to follow the line all the way from the front before finally reaching the very back. It was so long he couldn't see the end at a glance.

His workplace wasn't far from the food street. He got off at six and arrived at twenty past six. He had never expected this outcome, and even Lu Xiaotao himself could hardly believe it.
