If the danger of the Blade's Edge Mountains comes from the various monsters wandering among the mountains, the danger of Netherstorm is a different concept. Most of the dangers here come from the environment. As for the special monsters bred by the unique environment here, they are not that dangerous in comparison.
Outland is said to be extremely broken. In fact, in other areas, there are only some broken boulders suspended in Void at the boundaries of the area, and this boundary is still disintegrating and retreating, and Netherstorm is the most severely shattered batch in the entire Outland.
If a player compares the maps of Draenor and Outland in the game, they will find that the area of Draenor corresponding to Netherstorm is completely blank, but that is just because the game company was lazy and did not make it. In fact, the predecessor of Netherstorm is a huge island named Farahlon.
After Outland collapsed, the original continental edge became fragmented, but the interior was still intact. However, Farahlon was not so lucky and directly fragmented into several large and small floating islands exposed in Void. As for the more completely fragmented micro floating islands, they are countless.
Just like the name Netherstorm, this area is directly in Void. Walking in this broken area, you can even directly see the energy flow of Arcane in the sky that is similar to a river. However, this energy flow does not provide abundant Arcane energy like normal Ley Line, but is an extremely dangerous and violent turbulence.
Because of the above reasons, the environment in Netherstorm is far worse than other areas in Outland. Most of the original creatures here have died, leaving only a few areas that retain their original environment. However, in Void, the life in these rare areas will slowly die, until this area is completely turned into a dead land.
However, in this dead land, there are still a small number of extremely tenacious creatures, mainly some beasts that have been mutated by Void and violent energy. These beasts have gained the ability to survive in this dangerous environment, and at the same time they have become extremely dangerous.
With the bad environment and strange beasts, not long after entering Netherstorm, Aaron and his party deeply realized the danger here.
The nearly chaotic gravitational environment, the energy turbulence that could sweep through at any time, and the various mutated beasts that sprang out from the shadows from time to time, made the group of people extremely cautious when moving forward. Although these dangers were still within the range that they could deal with, no one knew whether they would encounter any more terrifying dangers in this weird environment, so they could only be extra careful.
"I only learned from Romuul's report that this area is very dangerous, but I didn't expect it to be to this extent. I don't know how they insisted on repairing the spacecraft in such an environment." Velen said with emotion. As the spiritual leader of Draenei, he rarely leaves Driving Telredor, my understanding of Netherstorm was limited to the reports of Romuul and other Draenei. Therefore, after actually setting foot on the land here, Velen realized how much risk his people were taking to repair the spacecraft.
"Since they can survive here, it means they must have a solution... but we are going to get lost in this area." After Khadgar used several spells to confirm his position but failed due to various interferences, he looked at Velen: "Prophet, can you contact your tribe and ask them to greet us?"
Since this team entered Netherstorm, they had to change their route several times to avoid energy turbulence. Coupled with the strange environment in this area, everyone finally found that they had completely lost their direction, and it was not easy to judge the direction in this broken world. After several trials, everyone was sure that they were lost.
"My connection with Holy Light has also been disturbed here," Velen shook his head. Needless to say, Khadgar also tried it, but the results were not very optimistic. "But I remember Romuul told me that they are trying to use the energy here. Maybe you can help us find their direction."
"The energy here refers to those things in the sky?" Khadgar noticed the long river of energy in the sky as soon as he entered Netherstorm. He looked up again at this moment, then shook his head to Velen and said, "Those things are too far away from us, and the chaotic energy also interferes with my judgment. It is difficult for me..."
"You're not looking above, you're looking at the ground." Aaron interrupted Khadgar and explained, "Draenei built certain facilities on the ground to directly absorb energy from the air. You should be able to find where those facilities are, right?"
What Aaron is talking about is a facility called Manaforge. These things can extract energy turbulence in the air and store it in some kind of crystal to be used as an energy source for the spacecraft.
In the game, these Manaforge are very conspicuous on the map, but Aaron originally thought that these facilities were built after Blood Elf captured Tempest Keep. Now it seems that Draenei is preparing these things, and Blood Elf is just a dove occupying the magpie's nest.
"Some kind of facility that gathers a lot of Arcane energy? A mage tower?" Khadgar guessed casually and began to sense the powerful energy source nearby. Because of Outland's environmental interference, it was not easy to do so, but Khadgar, as Archmage, finally found the target.
"There seem to be two of them, one of them is not very far away from us..." Khadgar opened his eyes and said to everyone. Everyone did not dare to delay and immediately walked in the direction he pointed.
Because it was to reserve energy for the spacecraft, the scale of Manaforge built by Draenei was extremely large. If it was a normal environment, it could be seen from a long distance away. However, in the special environment of Netherstorm, everyone could not see the full picture of the magnificent and huge facility until they got closer.
The energy converted through these hill-like facilities is transported in a certain direction along the purple transparent pipeline. The energy of Arcane in the pipeline has returned to normal. From this, it can be seen that Draenei still possesses very advanced technology even after 20,000 years of escape.
Draenei, who was responsible for protecting Manaforge, could be seen nearby. Through their guidance, Aaron and his party finally found the Draenei spacecraft fleet with Tempest Keep as its flagship.
There are five spaceships, one large, four small, floating quietly in Void to the east of Netherstorm, connected only to the land by a long man-made path, and a large number of Draenei are busy inside and outside these spacecrafts.
Draenei's chief technician Romuul was already waiting at the entrance of the passage leading to the flagship. After greeting Velen, he introduced to others:
"Everyone, welcome to Tempest Keep."
