Chapter 3

Late at night, Su Mo slowly opened his eyes. He rubbed his stomach, which gave a growl, then got up and walked to the kitchen.

He was not concerned about what was happening in the Microcosm.

Or rather, he was not concerned about it now.

When he had first gained this ability, Su Mo had actually cared a great deal about the people in the Microcosm.

For the first two days, he had even watched them constantly.

But one day in heaven meant a thousand years in the mortal world. After watching so many separations, deaths, joys, sorrows, partings, and reunions in the Microcosm, he had gradually grown tired of it all.

Most importantly, these races were almost all nonhuman, which made it very difficult for him to relate to them.

He made himself a barely passable-looking dinner in the kitchen. By the time he finished eating, it was already eight in the evening.

After washing the dishes, he lay back down on his bed and checked the three thousand or so yuan remaining in his bank account.

He thought about how, once he destroyed the world tomorrow and raised his Divine Rank to level 3.5, he would be able to create little things in the real world.

Things like cash, gold, and diamonds.

After thinking it over, he decided he had better not create cash. No matter how convincing he made it, any cash not registered by the state would be counterfeit.

Using too much of it could easily attract the government's attention, so he would just make some gold and exchange it for money.

Then he could live a life that at least barely resembled that of a creator god.

At the very least, let me, a creator god, stop having to wash dishes and cook for myself first.

With those thoughts, Su Mo drifted off to sleep again.

Five hundred years had already passed in the Microcosm, putting them halfway to the world-ending crisis at the thousand-year mark.

During this time, someone had leaked the information on the Slate of Destiny after all.

The new humanity had split into two extremes. Led by Ultra V, one faction pressed forward, continually building their shelters: underwater castles!

They believed the main reason the sixth civilization had failed was that the flood had not been an ordinary one.

Their approach would indeed have been correct against an ordinary flood, but this was a world-ending deluge descending from the sky.

The higher the location, the more of the flood's impact it would bear.

They did not even dare imagine the terrifying force of a world-ending deluge pouring down from space.

Although the people of the sixth civilization had made preparations and hidden in caves, their calculations showed that when such a terrifying deluge struck, it would be no different from a meteorite impact.

The plateaus, mountain peaks, and the earth they had piled up themselves simply could not withstand that terrifying pressure.

This was a conclusion they had all reached. In truth, however, they had reached another conclusion that they dared not voice: these floods had been deliberately created.

Whoever was responsible could make them as large as they wanted. If they truly wanted to destroy them, anything they did would be futile.

Yet no one dared voice such thoughts, because they were afraid. They feared that once they said it aloud, they would sink to the same level as those outside who had chosen to give up.

The Three-Eyed Tribe's third eye allowed them to communicate rapidly and transmit information.

After years of evolution and development, they could even use their third eyes to link to other people's brains and use those brains as computing power, achieving controlled technological explosions. The more biological brains they gathered, the greater their computing power became. This was the most primitive form of a biological computer.

The other faction chose self-indulgence, spending every day street racing, drinking, and brawling. In truth, the indulgent faction was not entirely indulging itself; its members had handed most of their brains' computing power over to their civilization.

In just two hundred short years, they had relied on these controlled technological explosions to keep advancing their technology, leaping from a steam civilization straight into the technological age.

These two extreme factions had even given the world a cyberpunk atmosphere.

Countless high-rises filled the enormous fortresses that were already beginning to take shape. In the streets and alleys, extravagantly dressed members of the indulgent faction with hair dyed every color drank, raced, and fought...

A new meeting began in the Ultra Palace. Those present were all leaders of the current radical faction.

Seated at the head, Ultra V slowly addressed those below. "Today is our once-a-decade review meeting. Feel free to share any thoughts you have. Oh, Original Ultraman, how far has construction on the underwater fortresses progressed?"

An unremarkable-looking man in the second deputy's seat slowly stood. "The first two fortresses to begin construction have now been completed. I am confident that the remaining seventy-nine will all be finished within the next three hundred years."

Ultra V nodded and lightly waved a hand. "Good, understood. If any of you have encountered problems in your projects, bring them up today. Whatever we can help resolve, we will resolve together."

After a moment of silence, a man with large patches of red skin slowly stood. "I propose launching the Eye of Ultra and Giant of Light Project."

Everyone fell silent. Even before coming here, they had more or less guessed this outcome.

When they actually heard the news, they felt terror and fear, but above all, excitement!

Yes, excitement.

The Eye of Ultra was, put plainly, a satellite, one that would be launched into space to observe this world.

But that was only its outward purpose. Its true purpose was to record the existence of God!

The publicly stated purpose behind developing the Giant of Light was their fear that the impact of the world-ending deluge falling from high above would destroy the fortresses. The Giant of Light could shatter those enormous torrents before they struck the ground, reducing their impact.

But its true purpose was to capture God!

Their presence here meant that they were among the smartest, wisest, and most insane people in their entire civilization.

In their current civilization, madness was not limited to the thugs who spent all day racing and fighting in the fortress streets. It also extended to people like them, who stood at the very pinnacle of civilization.

Zoffy's proposal won everyone's approval, and the Giant of Light Project and Eye of Ultra project were launched simultaneously.

A rooster's crow woke Su Mo from a pleasant dream. He rolled over, checked the time, saw that it was not even eight thirty yet, and went back to sleep.

A car accident on the main road not far from his home left a young man unconscious. When the young man opened his eyes again, however, what he saw was a world steeped in cyberpunk style.

While he was still utterly bewildered, large numbers of the Three-Eyed Tribe were already rushing over to surround him.

That was because, just moments earlier, someone had forcibly occupied this Three-Eyed person's biological brain.

The reason they had discovered this so quickly was that all their brains were connected.

Just now, this person had suddenly gone offline.

Among the Three-Eyed Tribe, no one could control anyone else's biological brain. Even when they signed agreements lending part of their brains' computing power to the state, it was done with their consent.

Neither Ultra V nor anyone else could invade another person's brain and seize their body while they were conscious.

Yet that was exactly what had happened now. A thought instantly burst into everyone's minds: God had appeared!

At the same time, Su Mo, who had only just begun to feel sleepy again, was instantly jolted awake by a series of urgent warnings in his mind.

Su Mo: ???
