Background / History
Origins and rivalry with Lu
Tia and the other Angels came from farther north than the Kingdom of Carheal. Because most Angels operated independently, their homeland did not function as a common point of contact 5.
Before settling with Hiraku, Tia repeatedly fought the vampire Rurushi, later called Lu. Neither secured a decisive victory: killing either combatant risked retaliation from the other’s race. Gran Maria also recalled fighting alongside Tia in an earlier battle, while Kuudel and Corone operated elsewhere 8.
Joining Hiraku’s household
Tia followed Lu after a bounty was placed on her for causing trouble in a town and damaging a noble’s reputation. On reaching Hiraku’s settlement, she was attacked by Kuro and the other Infernal Wolves. She and Lu agreed not to fight there, and Hiraku welcomed her into his cabin 3.
Under Lu’s direction, Tia became involved with Hiraku and joined their household. Although initially furious with Lu, she soon grew close to her and began calling Hiraku “dear husband.” The two then sought additional partners for him, agreeing that abducting people was not acceptable 3.
Tia’s first recruitment trip brought back seven displaced high elves: Ria, Risu, Lili, Rifu, Ricott, Rize, and Rita. She explained that their original settlement had been destroyed in a human war two hundred years earlier and helped them request permission to settle 3.
Developing Big Tree Village
Tia made several practical contributions as the settlement expanded. She brought seventeen slimes to process toilet waste and used magically created golems to help build Hiraku’s mansion. Hiraku considered her possibly the hardest worker on that construction project 3.
After Flora and the oni maids arrived, Tia felt disadvantaged in household influence and left to bring companions of her own. She returned the following spring with Gran Maria, Kuudel, Corone, fifteen lizardmen, and the chickens Hiraku wanted 4.
Her recruitment also addressed a defensive weakness exposed by the wyvern attack. She assigned the three Angels to mobile forest patrols, reasoning that even an enemy they could not defeat might be distracted before it damaged the village. Tia subsequently participated in the meeting that named the settlement Big Tree Village 4.
Trade and diplomacy
Chosen through a rock-paper-scissors tournament, Tia led Big Tree Village’s first trading delegation to Howlin Village in Hiraku’s place. He entrusted her with decisions at the market. Following his suggestion to offer samples, the delegation traded all its goods, including ten barrels of red wine, by the market’s halfway point 4.
Tia also handled Howlin Village’s request to send immigrants to Big Tree Village. She deferred approval when she learned that all the proposed migrants were young women, then returned to negotiate under Hiraku’s conditions. Later, she cautioned Howlin Village against making itself dependent on food imports while concentrating on mining and ironware 4 5.
She continued serving as a trade representative in later dealings with Good Forest Village. Guraru and his family accompanied her back from one such trip and became residents 22.
Motherhood
Tia helped Lu during her pregnancy and later became pregnant herself. Their former hostility did not return; Lu instead used her own experience of childbirth to support Tia 5.
Tia’s labor lasted longer than Lu’s, but both mother and child emerged healthy. She and Hiraku named their daughter Tiselle, and the village celebrated once Tia’s condition stabilized. Tia and Lu later ate separately from the lunchtime administrative meetings while caring for their children 8 9.
The Angels’ marriage trials
Tia’s having a child with a man who had not passed the Angels’ partner-selection trials provoked Kierbit and a group of Angels and Harpies to confront the village. Tia initially stayed out of sight because she believed her presence would make Kierbit more defiant 15.
When Kierbit resisted recognizing Hiraku’s success, Tia intervened physically, overturned the final coin trial’s result, and forced her to acknowledge the relationship. She criticized a system whose difficulty depended on the chief’s family’s mood 15.
Tia later explained that her frightening reputation had discouraged all previous proposals. Kierbit had considered them similarly unsuccessful in finding partners, making Tia’s marriage and motherhood a particular source of jealousy 15.
Appearance
- Hair and build: Blond, with an appearance Hiraku compared to that of a high-school girl; he also described her as cute 3 4.
- Wings: Wings on her back that can be folded away and spread again 3.
- Usual clothing: A white dress; unlike Gran Maria, Kuudel, and Corone, she is not normally described as fully armored 3 7.
- Tournament clothing: Trousers, with no carried weapon, during her match against Lu 10.
Personality
Tia combines affectionate domestic behavior with a forceful, intimidating reputation. She warmly calls Hiraku her husband and becomes close to Lu despite their long rivalry, yet readily threatens Kierbit when diplomacy fails. Her reputation among the Angels was severe enough that no one had proposed to her before Hiraku 3 15.
She is practical about security and negotiation. She organized mobile patrols after the wyvern attack, exercised discretion over Howlin Village’s immigration request, and warned against an unstable trade dependency. While escorting her companions through the Forest of Death, she required proper sleeping rotations rather than uninterrupted travel 4 5 8.
Her interests include cucumbers and making snowmen. She became so enthusiastic about the latter that Hiraku made her gloves out of concern for her hands. Her competitive streak remains evident in her exchanges and duels with Lu 3 10.
Abilities & Skills
Combat Ability
Gran Maria identifies Tia as the strongest of the Angels, placing her above their chief and the trio of Gran Maria, Kuudel, and Corone 15.
- Lu acknowledges that Tia has an advantage against her in terms of matchup 3.
- Tia defeats Gran Maria almost instantly in the martial arts tournament 10.
- She hits every target during the documented ordinary-spear accuracy test 22.
- Her strength is not without limits: Gran Maria believed the four Angels together might defeat a Grappler Bear, but could not guarantee the accompanying lizardmen’s safety 8.
Magic
Tia studies magic as her individual research specialty and demonstrates both offensive and practical applications 4 10.
- Chantless casting: Exchanges fire, water, and wind magic with Lu without either combatant chanting 10.
- Flame attacks: Sets Stifano’s body alight during their tournament match 10.
- White spears: Manifests three spears that pierce Stifano, deliberately avoiding fatal locations; the spears subsequently vanish 10.
- Compatibility advantage: Stifano’s black spears crumble after piercing her without leaving marks. Tia explicitly attributes this to compatibility 10.
- Utility magic: Can help ferment and break down toilet waste, although the resulting smell makes that solution impractical 3.
- Heat application: Heats a heat-storing rock and explains its gradual release of warmth to Hiraku 16.
Golem Creation
Tia creates golems with magic for construction and labor 3.
- Can create one to thirty golems 3.
- Fewer golems can be larger, stronger, and capable of more delicate work 3.
- Larger numbers are suited to simple tasks 3.
- Their slow movement makes them unsuitable for tournament-style duels despite their brute strength 10.
Flight
Tia’s wings allow fast flight, but sustained flying tires her 3.
- She and the other flying residents estimate that crossing the Forest of Death takes approximately half a day by air 5.
- She combines aerial movement with magic and close combat against Lu 10.
- After becoming caught in Zabuton’s family’s threads three times near the fields, she becomes less inclined to fly there 3.
- She also uses flight recreationally, hovering above a pool before diving into the water 22.
Administration and Trade
Tia represents the Angels within Big Tree Village and assists Hiraku with village business 9 23.
- Leads trading delegations and makes on-site decisions on Hiraku’s behalf 4 22.
- Negotiates immigration arrangements and reports requests from neighboring settlements 4.
- Directs her Angel companions’ defensive duties 4 8.
- Performs administrative work also assigned to the civil servant girls and Kierbit 23.
Tournament Record
| Round | Opponent | Documented Result |

“Today's victory is mine.” 10
Trivia

- She complains that Hiraku’s written account gives her too little space 7.
- Despite being able to fly, she is surprised when Hiraku demonstrates a propeller-driven cart, suggesting a wind spirit’s prank as an explanation 27.
