"Elder Jiang, you jest. You're an elder-how could we possibly give you perfunctory treatment? Please come with this junior!"
Qi Hui kept his posture very humble.
Jiang Yantian and his father were both elders of the same seniority, so calling himself a junior was not wrong.
"All right, I'll go take a look with you." Jiang Yantian stood and stretched. "Qiu'er, Dong'er, head back first!"
"Put away my fishing gear for me. I'm never fishing here again. What a lousy place."
"Yes, Young Master..." the two women answered.
Jiang Yantian then headed back with Qi Hui.
With Jiang Yantian's cultivation, he could have arrived in an instant.
Yet he insisted on taking his time with Qi Hui.
"Second Young Master Qi!"
"This junior is here!" Qi Hui bowed with his hands clasped.
"Oh, no need to be so formal. I just wanted to ask, your wife is doing well, isn't she? Grand Elder Qi didn't give her a hard time after she went back, did he?"
Qi Hui froze, somewhat bewildered.
But before he could ask, Jiang Yantian continued, "Even if she was punished, it was inevitable. After all, she did something so morally depraved."
"Grand Elder Qi has a stubborn temper, too. You should be more understanding of your father."
Qi Hui listened, utterly baffled. What was he talking about?
Before he could speak, however, Jiang Yantian patted his shoulder again. "Don't worry. I've vented that anger for you."
"Ye Feng, who committed adultery with your wife-I cut off his root of troubles, too. That counts as the greatest punishment."
At those words, Qi Hui felt as though lightning had struck him. He was completely stunned.
Fuck, something this huge had happened, and I didn't know a thing.
He had been wondering why his father had suddenly demanded that he and his wife divorce by mutual agreement.
He had refused even on pain of death. So something like this had happened, and he had known absolutely nothing.
Now it seemed his father had not wanted the scandal exposed, yet could not tolerate his daughter-in-law's actions. He could only have them divorce by mutual agreement rather than have him repudiate his wife.
Even so, no man could bear such humiliation.
Qi Hui's blood surged, his entire body trembling.
Had Jiang Yantian not assumed he knew and let it slip, he would probably have kept wearing that green hat forever.
Ye Feng!!! Qi Hui viciously repeated that name in his heart.
"Elder Jiang, this junior... this junior just remembered some urgent business. Please forgive my rudeness. I'll take my leave first!" Qi Hui bowed.
"Sure, go ahead. I'll head to the sect myself!" Jiang Yantian nodded with a smile.
Qi Hui shot off in another direction at tremendous speed.
Watching Qi Hui's retreating figure, Jiang Yantian merely smiled faintly, laced his hands behind his head, and strolled leisurely toward the sect.
Naturally, Jiang Yantian had let Qi Hui's matter slip on purpose.
He was certain that Grand Elder Qi would not tell his son about it, to preserve his own face.
Otherwise, things would not have stayed quiet for so long.
Jiang Yantian had done his fair share of killing with a borrowed knife.
In any case, Qi Hui could not kill Ye Feng, but Jiang Yantian was still quite happy to see him disgust Ye Feng a little.
By the time Jiang Yantian reached the sect's council hall, the elders of all eleven lineages had arrived.
He was the only one missing.
Jiang Yantian swept a glance around and went straight to his seat.
He could not even be bothered to greet anyone.
This left some of the more senior elders a little displeased.
As a junior who had overtaken his predecessors, surely he should not be so arrogant and rude.
"What an imposing air, Elder Jiang, making the sect master and all of us wait so long!"
Elder Yin of the Spell Lineage spoke with a sarcastic edge.
He already held a grudge against Jiang Yantian. Just because he had stepped on one of his chickens and killed it, Jiang Yantian had swindled him out of five hundred thousand mid-grade spirit stones.
Who could swallow that anger?
Jiang Yantian did not care in the slightest. He looked at him and smiled. "Are you sick in the head? Did I ask you to wait?"
"You..." Elder Yin nearly slammed the table and rose.
Damn brat, he won't give me any face at all.
"If you can't stand waiting, get lost. Are you waiting to be fed?"
"Fine, fine... arrogant brat..." Elder Yin ground his teeth.
"You dimwit, I haven't even settled accounts with you yet. You stepped on my chicken and killed it before, and you still owe me five hundred thousand mid-grade spirit stones. I'll come collect when I get back!"
This time, Elder Yin truly could not bear it. He slammed the table and sprang to his feet. "Jiang Yantian, you're going too far! Haven't I already compensated you?"
Jiang Yantian snorted coldly. "You paid for one. That one was an old mother hen. Her chick lost its mother, fell ill from longing, and died. Shouldn't you take responsibility?"
"I..." Elder Yin nearly lost his footing. "You... you..."
"You what? Let me tell you, that old hen hatched nineteen chicks, and eighteen are still left. Either come over later and apologize to Mother Hen's children, or every time one dies, I'll come after you."
Elder Yin nearly collapsed to the floor.
He somewhat regretted finding fault with Jiang Yantian just now.
He had only intended to make a sarcastic remark, especially with the sect master present.
Besides, Jiang Yantian really had kept everyone waiting. He had every reason to be in the right.
Now it seemed he had still been naive. Jiang Yantian did not play along with this sort of thing and gave no one face.
Instead, he himself was being extorted again.
"Enough!" Sect Master Lu Ming frowned, looking decidedly displeased.
Jiang Yantian was becoming more and more unrestrained.
Hearing that overbearing tone, Jiang Yantian immediately grew annoyed and was about to snap back at Lu Ming.
But just then, Luo Xingcai called out, "Yantian..."
Jiang Yantian looked over and saw Luo Xingcai gently shake her head.
Only then did Jiang Yantian let it go. He walked over to Luo Xingcai and sat beside her.
Lu Ming secretly clenched his fists. He was certain that, had Luo Xingcai not spoken, Jiang Yantian would have snapped back at him just now.
"I summoned all the elders today because there is indeed an important matter to discuss!"
As he spoke, Lu Ming waved his hand, and a letter floated in the center of the hall.
"This letter was sent to me by the sect master of the Heavenly Saber Sect. In a manner of speaking, it is also a letter of coercion!"
Hearing the sect master's words, the other elders exchanged glances.
They had never had much of a grudge with the Heavenly Saber Sect. Why would there be a letter of coercion?
"Sect Master, what are they coercing us over?" Hua Youque deliberately asked.
He had already learned about it from Ye Feng.
Lu Ming frowned. "They demand that we hand over the person who killed the Heavenly Saber Sect's young sect master and elder!"
"Otherwise, their entire sect will march against us!"
At these words, the elders exchanged glances, greatly shocked.
Wars between sects were exceedingly rare, unless there was a blood-deep hatred as vast as a sea.
"Sect Master, what do you mean, killing the Heavenly Saber Sect's young sect master and elder? What happened?"
Quite a few people voiced their questions.
Lu Ming sighed and looked at Jiang Yantian, who was reclining in his chair, drinking tea in utter boredom.
"Elder Jiang, you must give an account of this matter. By killing the Heavenly Saber Sect's young sect master and elder, you have formed a mortal feud with them."
"If this knot is not untied, the two sects will only fall into endless attrition. In the future, whether disciples leave the sect or go out to temper themselves, whenever the two sides meet, they will fight until one side is dead!"
Everyone was stunned by these words.
They had to admit, Jiang Yantian was truly fierce. He had killed the Heavenly Saber Sect's young sect master and elder without hesitation.
"There's no reason for the sect to be dragged into something Elder Jiang did himself!"
"I say we hand him over!" Hua Youque could hardly wait and hurriedly spoke.
Elder Yin also expressed his agreement. "Exactly. Whoever did it should bear the responsibility. That's only right."
Most of the elders chose to remain silent and said nothing.
