- Golden Core remains an unrealized promise: Elder Long claims the Spirit-Imprisoning Forbidden Land’s opportunities can bring her directly into Golden Core, but no such breakthrough is documented 5 47.
- No innate Dao physique is confirmed: the supposed physique-granting pill and accompanying scroll are part of Jiang Yantian’s treasure-site prank 28.
Background
Ye Feng’s parents died early. She met Hua Jiao in the Mysterious Spirit Sect’s outer sect, where others mocked her talent. Hua Jiao supported her, defended her against detractors, and became an important source of early backing. After entering the inner sect, Ye Feng joined the Sword Dao Lineage because of her exceptional swordsmanship, while Hua Jiao entered her father’s alchemy branch 19 43.
Her rise began after she obtained the Spirit-Fusing Mirror. During a blood-moon phenomenon, she used her body to block the moonlight reflected by the mirror and earned its recognition. Through it, she met Elder Long, a powerful expert surviving as a spirit, who became her hidden mentor and Dao protector 1 27.
Personality
Ye Feng is initially sociable and helpful toward fellow disciples. On Azure Mist Peak, she is known for treating others well and assisting them. However, she also enjoys taking the spotlight, embarrasses others without leaving them face, and responds poorly to criticism—sometimes seeking to settle disputes through sparring 11.
Pride and sensitivity to public disgrace shape many of her decisions. She initially refuses Jiang Yantian’s demand for a humiliating apology, then accepts it to preserve access to cultivation opportunities. Although she repeatedly swears revenge, threats to expose her castration can force her into submission 5 11.
Repeated abuse makes her more withdrawn, fearful, and tearful. Elder Long’s reassurance repeatedly restores her determination, but her drive to grow stronger becomes increasingly centered on killing Jiang Yantian. Her ambitions nevertheless extend beyond the Mysterious Spirit Sect, contributing to her refusal to change her surname and inherit Hua Youque’s mantle 4 18 32 43.
Abilities & Skills
Swordsmanship
Ye Feng is recognized as the sect’s sword genius and a born “sword embryo.” Her battle with Qi Hui demonstrates genuine combat ability against another late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator 2 47.
- Sword rain: manifests numerous sword phantoms and launches them in an organized barrage 47.
- Sword Shatters the Vast Sky: concentrates her Qi into a powerful sweeping sword strike. Qi Hui doubts his ability to withstand it, but Jiang Yantian secretly neutralizes it with an invisible barrier 47.
- Flying-sword travel: uses her sword as a flying artifact for transportation 11 46.
- Limit: her cultivation is far below Jiang Yantian’s; his oppressive presence alone can pin her down and make her cough blood 22.
Formation Breaking
Ye Feng can channel spiritual power through hand seals to dismantle restrictive formations when Elder Long supplies the necessary guidance 25 27.
- Breaks restrictions at several forbidden-land treasure sites 25 26 28.
- Relies on Elder Long to reveal concealed runes, interpret arrays, and direct her actions 25 27.
- Cannot independently unravel the high-level taboo arrays encountered during the expedition 27.
Embroidery
- Unexpectedly demonstrates embroidery to a junior sister without knowing how she acquired the skill 12.
Equipment & Items
- Spirit-Fusing Mirror — an ancient secret treasure housing Elder Long’s spirit. Ye Feng communicates with him through it and depends on his guidance during cultivation and treasure hunting 1 4 25.
- Severed Injury Sword — her named magical sword, used for flying travel 11.
- Storage bag/pouch — carries pills, spirit stones, injury medicine, and the items collected during the forbidden-land expedition 16 28.
- Counterfeit forbidden-land treasures — cheap goods disguised by Jiang Yantian as priceless artifacts. These include a spear she mistakes for a God-Slaying Spear Fragment; its apparent power drops to that of a low-tier grade-one spirit weapon after she takes it 28.
Relationships
- Jiang Yantian — fellow disciple under Luo Xingcai, law enforcement elder, and principal enemy. He frames Ye Feng, castrates her, sabotages her opportunities, and keeps her alive to generate Humiliation Points. Ye Feng repeatedly vows to kill him 1 2 4 17.
- Elder Long — hidden mentor and Dao protector within the Spirit-Fusing Mirror. He provides cultivation advice, formation knowledge, and emotional support. He declines to intervene during her castration because revealing himself could lead to the mirror’s seizure and endanger them both 2 25 27 32.
- Luo Xingcai — former master. Initially trusts Ye Feng’s character and blocks Jiang Yantian’s first attack, but withdraws after seeing his recording stone. Her support later deteriorates, culminating in Ye Feng’s expulsion from Azure Mist Peak and the Sword Dao Lineage 2 22 38.
- Hua Jiao — close friend from the outer sect who loves and consistently defends Ye Feng. Ye Feng regards her as a younger sister and later regrets not reciprocating her interest. After Jiang Yantian kills her, Ye Feng promises to avenge her 19 20 36.
- Hua Youque — Hua Jiao’s father, later Ye Feng’s master and foster father. Accepts her as his personal disciple and seeks her account of his daughter’s death. Her confidence in his protection is shaken when he allows Jiang Yantian to punish her 38 42 43 48.
- Tantai Yue — senior sister whom Ye Feng previously admired. Delivers medicine and explains the conditions Jiang Yantian has imposed on her participation in the forbidden-land trial 5.
- Qi Hui — Grand Elder Qi’s second son and husband involved in the scandal used to frame Ye Feng. Ye Feng considers them both victims and seeks a private discussion, but Qi Hui attacks her 46 47.
- Lu Ming — sect master before whom Ye Feng brings accusations against Jiang Yantian. Privately regards her as expendable rather than someone he intends to protect 36 38.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Framing and Castration
Jiang Yantian frames Ye Feng for adultery with the Qi family’s second young madam. Ye Feng protests that she was knocked unconscious and positioned to appear guilty, but Jiang presents a recording stone that persuades Luo Xingcai to stop intervening. With the elders’ approval, he restrains Ye Feng with Nine Nether Fine Steel Chains and castrates her 1 2.
The punishment severely damages Ye Feng’s Dao heart. Elder Long urges her to turn hatred into motivation and promises eventual physical restoration. He also identifies the Flesh Spirit Pill as another possible remedy, requiring a fifth-grade alchemist and a thousand salamanders; neither solution is obtained 2 4 5.
Elder Peak Penance
Jiang Yantian threatens Ye Feng’s safety during the coming trial unless she climbs Elder Peak while kowtowing every three steps. Elder Long persuades her to endure it for the forbidden land’s opportunities, but Jiang turns the apology into a public spectacle, adding spectators, increasing gravity, and monkey droppings along the route 5 6 7.
After her first ascent fails to secure an audience, Jiang orders her to start again. A threat to expose her castration forces her compliance. When she finally reaches him, he dismisses the ordeal as a joke and sends her away; she returns to Azure Mist Peak crying 8 11.
Hua Jiao’s Death and the Forbidden-Land Trial
Before the trial, Jiang Yantian kills Hua Jiao by devouring her soul. Ye Feng suspects him, but Elder Long’s Clarity Technique finds no trace of her on him, and Luo Xingcai accepts his denial. Jiang subsequently forces Ye Feng to denounce her dead friend aloud 20 22 23.
Inside the forbidden land, Jiang separates Ye Feng from the group with an illusion. Elder Long guides her to hidden treasure sites, unaware that Jiang has already taken the real artifacts and substituted false rewards. Mistaking Jiang’s urine for a beneficial heavenly phenomenon, Ye Feng drinks it during her search. A final scroll exposes the prank after she swallows a supposed Innate Dao Physique Pill 25 27 28.
As the exit is about to seal, Jiang immobilizes Ye Feng with his chain, then carries her out at the last moment. Her accusation that he deliberately trapped her is rejected by the sect, leaving her isolated. On a later entry, she remains near the entrance rather than risk another attack 31 32 34.
Expulsion and Adoption
After returning to the sect, Ye Feng publicly accuses Jiang Yantian of dereliction of duty. His shadow technique allows him to portray his apparent surveillance as protection, turning the accusation against her. Luo Xingcai expels Ye Feng, but Hua Youque accepts her into the Pill Lineage as his personal disciple 36 37 38.
Ye Feng swears a Heavenly Dao blood oath that her account of Hua Jiao’s death is true, then becomes Hua Youque’s foster daughter. She urges immediate revenge, but he intends to wait until Jiang approaches Spirit Transformation and faces heavenly suppression 42 43.
Battle with Qi Hui and Arrest
Qi Hui confronts Ye Feng in the Pill Lineage, and their dispute becomes a fierce battle. Jiang secretly blocks Ye Feng’s strongest sword technique, making it appear ineffective, then orders the Law Enforcement Squad to arrest both fighters 46 47.
Ye Feng resists arrest, and Hua Youque fails to secure her release. Jiang orders further beatings and imprisonment for her while arranging only a show punishment for Qi Hui. By the latest account, she has been taken away, allowing Jiang to continue earning Humiliation Points through his subordinates’ treatment of her 48 49.

Trivia

- The original script assigns Ye Feng the Five Directions Flags, which help her survive repeated crises. In the altered storyline, Jiang Yantian takes them before she can claim them 19.
