  • Face: Resolute features, marked by anger during his return to the Heavenly Saber Sect 68.
  • Clothing: Introduced wearing scale armor and riding a dark saber 68.
  • Distinguishing injury: Lost his left arm to the Nine-Winged Heavenly Dragon; retained his right arm and continued fighting one-handed 156 161.

Personality

Qin Xuan values gratitude, loyalty, and courteous conduct. He shares the rewards of his opportunities with those who helped him and publicly thanks Elder Huang for his care. Even Jiang Yantian, despite deliberately persecuting him, acknowledges that Qin Xuan is grateful and would be an exceptionally fortunate friend to an ordinary cultivator 127 150 152.

His defining strength is persistence. He rebuilds his cultivation after losing his Saber Soul, continues seeking opportunities despite repeated humiliation, and refuses to accept permanent disability after Jiang Yantian nearly cripples him. He frequently suppresses his anger when confronting stronger opponents, treating endurance as necessary until he can take revenge 68 129 144 151.

That perseverance coexists with pride and romantic self-deception. Qin Xuan mistakes Ao Xue’s past encouragement for deep attachment and insists she needs rescuing even after learning that she is Jiang Yantian’s wife. His gratitude also makes him vulnerable to manipulation: he sincerely regards Jiang Yantian’s disguised fisherman persona as a benefactor 104 107 141.

Repeated abuse gradually erodes his composure. Elder Huang notices his change from a refined, humble young man into someone frequently cursing in frustration. Nevertheless, Qin Xuan refrains from killing the chief eunuch despite their vicious confrontation, and later condemns the imperial court’s exploitation of ordinary people 150 151 160.

Background / History

Heavenly Saber Sect upbringing

Qin Xuan grew up in the Heavenly Saber Sect, where both parents had been prodigy disciples. His innate Saber Soul earned him the sect’s attention and training. After his parents died during a conflict over a secret realm, he secretly left at twelve to recover their remains. A third-tier exotic beast attacked him before he reached the site; his Saber Soul sacrificed itself to save him, and an elder subsequently brought him home 68.

Unable to cultivate or lift a saber, he spent eight years as a menial disciple and suffered ridicule from other disciples. He was eventually falsely accused of stealing the Blood-Drinking Saber and expelled. After wandering outside, he encountered the master of Prince Teng Pavilion and rebuilt his strength 68.

The sect later disputed his interpretation of its treatment. Elder He argued that Qin Xuan had received support and an allowance while performing only light sweeping duties, and claimed his expulsion had protected him from the young sect master’s favored concubine. Qin Xuan rejected these explanations as excuses prompted by his new backing 69 70.

Return and attempted bride seizure

Qin Xuan returned with four Prince Teng Pavilion experts and announced that he would take Ao Xue away from her wedding. He regarded her as the person whose encouragement had sustained him during his lowest years 68 69.

Jiang Yantian provoked him with insults while standing behind the Heavenly Dipper Sect’s position. Qin Xuan attacked, drawing his escorts into battle against the Heavenly Saber and Heavenly Dipper sects. He then tried to seize Ao Xue while the experts were occupied, but Shan Shengxu intercepted him 70.

Dragon Transformation Heavenly Pool

Nan Tongyu sent Qin Xuan to the Dragon Transformation Heavenly Pool as part of an arrangement with Zhang Huowang. The intended opportunity would connect Qin Xuan’s fortune with a golden carp, help produce a century of imperial Dragon Qi, and bind him to the dynasty’s protection 145.

Jiang Yantian killed Zhang Huowang beforehand and impersonated a secluded fishing expert. Qin Xuan accepted his violent attacks as body-tempering instruction and ate fish secretly treated with Boiling Blood Spirit Powder. The apparent increases in spiritual power convinced him that the fisherman was an extraordinary benefactor, although the powder was consuming his blood essence 82 83 84 85.

He also diligently followed the cultivation instructions supplied by the false mentor. After leaving the pool, exhaustion forced him to rest at an inn in Rainbow City, where a mistaken room assignment led to a public accusation of molestation. Jiang Yantian subsequently frightened him with remotely played voices; Qin Xuan returned to Prince Teng Pavilion and remained unconscious for four days. Yang Yongxin diagnosed severe depletion that had damaged his prospects for advancement 90 104 106 108 118.

Humiliation at Prince Teng Pavilion

Qin Xuan opposed Jiang Yantian’s appointment as the pavilion’s fourth supreme elder, but Nan Tongyu accepted Jiang’s Heavenly Dao Blood Oath and rebuked Qin Xuan. Jiang then privately mocked him for helping secure the position 122.

At the welcoming banquet, Jiang used a voice-matching controller to make obscene outbursts sound as though they came from Qin Xuan. After withdrawing, Qin Xuan discovered a hidden cave containing Blood Saber Ancestor’s remains and the Coagulated Blood Divine Edge 127 128 129.

Further incidents damaged his reputation. Ding Dingda accused him after finding Madam Hong’s corpse in his room; Qin Xuan denied touching her and suspected a frame-up, but Nan Tongyu declined to pursue his complaint. Qin Xuan later wagered his resources and five years of rewards on inscribing a law-bearing stele. Jiang secretly sabotaged the attempt, causing the stele to reject and injure him 132 133 136.

Near-crippling and breakthrough

When Ao Xue visited Prince Teng Pavilion, Qin Xuan assumed she had come for him and offered to free her from Jiang Yantian. She attacked him, breaking his ordinary saber. Jiang then shattered Nan Tongyu’s protective intervention and inflicted further injuries, leaving Qin Xuan with broken meridians, shattered bones, damaged organs, and a cracked Golden Core 141 142 144.

With healers predicting permanent disability, Qin Xuan crawled to the Coagulated Blood Divine Edge and offered it his blood. He obtained Blood Saber Ancestor’s inheritance, recovered, and broke through to Nascent Soul. Afterward, he finally abandoned his pursuit of Ao Xue, though he remained jealous of Jiang Yantian 144 146.

Blazing Sun Imperial Dynasty mission

Qin Xuan accompanied Elder Huang to the Blazing Sun Imperial Dynasty. There, Jiang Yantian subjected him to corporal punishment and tricked him into swallowing a supposed Great Return Pill made from excrement. Qin Xuan nevertheless continued his assignment, intending to find Elder Huang, investigate Zhang Huowang’s disappearance, and inspect the dragon vein site 145 149 150 151.

While leading five imperial descendants to find a necromancer, Qin Xuan lost his left arm in an attack arranged by Jiang Yantian. He treated himself and continued to the City of Dark Night 153 156.

The necromancer brought back by the party proved to be an impostor. Blamed by the emperor and ministers, Qin Xuan openly condemned the dynasty’s corruption, excessive taxation, and neglect of starving commoners. He fought two Nascent Soul Late Stage experts until Elder Huang’s interruption distracted him and allowed an opponent to strike him down. Nan Tongyu then arrived to demand an explanation for his adopted son’s injuries 159 160 161.

Upper Realm selection and death

The Upper Realm assessment revealed Qin Xuan’s supreme-grade aptitude and rare blood spiritual root. His prospects were undermined by the exposure of Liu Tingyu’s other partners, which devastated his trust in his Dao companion. He resolved to leave Prince Teng Pavilion regardless of whether he was selected 176 178 179.

Seeking protection against Jiang Yantian, he approached Long Wanning and invoked his involvement in Sun Lin’s death. She instead ordered him to kill himself. During the ensuing confrontation, she ultimately directed a lethal attack at Qin Xuan; it ignored his defenses, destroyed his saber, and killed him 180 181 183.

The system explained that Long Wanning’s fortune had canceled out Qin Xuan’s protection. Jiang Yantian attempted to revive him and asked whether he could be reborn, but no successful revival is documented in these events. Nan Tongyu concealed the death and planned to announce that Qin Xuan had left to gain experience 183 184.

Abilities & Skills

Saber Soul and saber cultivation

Qin Xuan’s Saber Soul marks him as an outstanding saber practitioner and enhances nearly every aspect of his performance 161.

  • Re-formed his Saber Soul after its childhood destruction 68.
  • Established a soul connection with the Coagulated Blood Divine Edge and rapidly understood its basic mysteries 129.
  • Charged a saber attack powerful enough to crack the combined barrier of two Nascent Soul Late Stage cultivators while only at the Early Stage 161.

Blood Saber Ancestor’s inheritance

The Coagulated Blood Divine Edge contained Blood Saber Ancestor’s lifetime cultivation, intended for a compatible successor 129.

  • Its released power repaired Qin Xuan’s grievously injured body and enabled his Nascent Soul breakthrough 144.
  • Receiving the inheritance did not complete his training; he still needed to integrate and refine it 144.

Spells and combat tactics

  • Gale Spell: Creates powerful winds that conceal his movements and provide cover while he charges an attack 161.
  • Black palm strike: Uses an enormous palm-shaped attack as a diversion while maneuvering against another opponent 161.
  • Remote weapon attacks: Throws the Coagulated Blood Divine Edge in a circling attack to threaten an opponent from behind 161.
  • Flight: Previously traveled on his saber; after reaching Nascent Soul, could fly directly 68 151.

Heavenly Dao Fortune

Qin Xuan possesses exceptionally strong Heavenly Dao Fortune, recognized by Long Wanning 180.

  • Draws him toward concealed treasures and opportunities, including Blood Saber Ancestor’s cave 129 180.
  • Supports extraordinary growth and survival after apparently ruinous injuries 144 180.
  • Does not provide absolute protection: Long Wanning’s own fortune canceled his when she killed him 183.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Dark saber: His early weapon and means of flight, also called a profound or mystic saber. Ao Xue broke it during their confrontation 68 129 141.
  • Coagulated Blood Divine Edge: A blood-colored divine artifact bearing a soaring serpent emblem. Contains Blood Saber Ancestor’s inheritance, possesses life-stealing properties, and grants eternal youth rather than immunity to being killed. Destroyed during Long Wanning’s fatal attack 129 144 183.
  • Gold Medal Mentor: A three-volume cultivation manual supplied by Jiang Yantian’s false mentor persona. Qin Xuan followed its instructions but rejected its advice to sever desire through castration 85 90 104 144.
  • Clear Heart Ice Soul Pearl: A treasured possession he surrendered to Liu Tingyu after she suggested she needed it 175.
  • Storage pouch: Held his possessions, including the divine saber and cultivation manual 144.

Relationships

  • Nan Tongyu — Adoptive father and patron. Protected Qin Xuan, arranged opportunities for him, and intervened after his battle at the imperial court. Concealed his death to preserve his dignity 69 145 161 184.
  • Jiang Yantian — Principal enemy. Repeatedly sabotaged his opportunities, manipulated his reputation, and injured him while exploiting his suffering for Humiliation Points 82 122 136 156.
  • Ao Xue — Unrequited love. Qin Xuan regarded her encouragement as salvation; she described their earlier contact as a few words dissuading him from suicide. He eventually relinquished his pursuit after she nearly killed him 68 146 152.
  • Liu Tingyu — Sworn sister and later Dao companion. He trusted her affection and gave her his treasured pearl; the exposure of her other partners shattered his trust 123 128 175 178 179.
  • Elder Huang — Longstanding caretaker whom Qin Xuan openly thanked. Their relationship became strained as Qin Xuan’s behavior changed under repeated persecution 127 150 161.
  • Ding Dingda — Pavilion rival who supported Jiang Yantian, accused Qin Xuan over Madam Hong’s death, and challenged him over the stone stele 132 135 136.
  • Blood Saber Ancestor — Posthumous benefactor whose weapon and inheritance enabled Qin Xuan’s recovery and breakthrough 129 144.
  • Long Wanning — Upper Realm authority whose support he unsuccessfully sought; ultimately his killer 180 183.
  • Holy Maiden of the Hall of Reincarnation — One of the three women Qin Xuan held in his heart, alongside Ao Xue and Liu Tingyu 123.
