Chapters 1601–1608 Vol. 17 Read

Ch. 1601An argument

After the spiritual-root trial, Ye Fen and Wang Teng were forced to pair up for the comprehension test despite their mutual hostility. As they began studying the Great Dao inscriptions, Jiang Yantian secretly sent a wisp of powder toward them, which Beiming Yu noticed.

  • The white-bearded elder announced the comprehension trial and raised the stele, now covered in Great Dao inscriptions.
  • The disciples formed pairs, but everyone rejected Ye Fen and Wang Teng, so the elder ordered them to work together.
  • Ye Fen and Wang Teng argued and traded insults, but held back from fighting under the elders' watch.
  • The elder made Ye Fen and Wang Teng the first pair to comprehend the No Opportunity Stele, and they sat down before it.
  • Jiang Yantian secretly scattered powder toward Ye Fen and Wang Teng, while Beiming Yu noticed his action.

Ch. 1602Not the proper kind

During a test of comprehension, Ye Fen and Wang Teng suddenly became overwhelmed by attraction and kissed in front of the gathered disciples and elders. The chapter ended with them passionately embracing in the square as the crowd stared in shock.

  • Yan Miaoxi and the other women noticed Jiang Yantian’s mischief and quietly snickered.
  • As Ye Fen and Wang Teng contemplated the ancient seal script, an inexplicable heat and desire to kiss took hold of them.
  • Ye Fen and Wang Teng exchanged glances, touched hands, and confessed that they wanted to kiss and snuggle.
  • Wang Teng pulled Ye Fen into his arms, declared that she was his, and promised to protect her from anyone who mocked her.
  • Wang Teng kissed Ye Fen’s forehead, then kissed her on the lips, and Ye Fen eagerly returned the kiss as the crowd watched.

Ch. 1603Coming to Blows

Under the drug’s influence, Wang Teng and Ye Fen kissed and declared themselves Dao companions, but once it wore off, they remembered what happened and began fighting. Their brawl left them tangled together on the ground, where Wang Teng’s weight pressed down on Ye Fen and left the crowd stunned.

  • Wang Teng and Ye Fen kissed while the disciples applauded and treated them as lovers.
  • Wang Teng agreed that they were Dao companions and called Ye Fen his little treasure.
  • A cool breeze helped Ye Fen and Wang Teng recover their senses, and both recoiled in horror at what they had done.
  • Ye Fen and Wang Teng blamed each other and launched into a fight in front of the crowd.
  • The pair grappled on the ground as their clothes tore, until Wang Teng pinned Ye Fen down and she suddenly went limp.

Ch. 1604Climbing the Mountain

After their first trial ended in a public scuffle, Wang Teng and Ye Fen began the mountain ascent trial together, kowtowing every three steps as they competed for the summit. Jiang Yantian secretly changed a higher-up restriction to demonic mist, while Wang Teng deliberately pressed his backside against Ye Fen’s head.

  • An elder stopped Wang Teng and Ye Fen’s fight and declared that both had passed the first round.
  • The white-bearded elder assigned Wang Teng and Ye Fen to climb a mountain of 9,999 steps, kowtowing every three steps to test their perseverance and sincerity.
  • Wang Teng and Ye Fen began the climb, bleeding from their foreheads as disciples followed them to watch and jeer.
  • Jiang Yantian set a demonic-mist restriction higher up the mountain instead of the planned shit-based restriction.
  • Wang Teng paused on purpose and pressed his backside against Ye Fen’s head, and Ye Fen imagined what it would be like to climb in front of him.

Ch. 1605An idea

Ye Fen deliberately slowed down ahead of Wang Teng so he would bump into her every time he kowtowed on the mountain path. As Jiang Yantian and the others watched, Mei Yanluo suggested making Ye Fen lose control of her bowels, but Jiang Yantian denied teaching anyone such tricks.

  • Ye Fen hurried past Wang Teng, then slowed down so his kowtows repeatedly bumped into her lower back.
  • Wang Teng accused Ye Fen of blocking his way, but she insisted she was walking normally and told him to overtake her.
  • The watching disciples realized Ye Fen was doing it on purpose, laughed, and recorded the scene while Wang Teng tried to suppress his anger.
  • Jiang Yantian wondered why Ye Fen's behavior had changed so dramatically after he scattered special substances, and Mei Yanluo suggested making her bowels act up.
  • Mei Yanluo and Jiang Lingwan blamed their devious ideas on Jiang Yantian, who protested that he had never taught them such tricks.

Ch. 1606Suppression

Jiang Yantian secretly arranged a supposed fortuitous opportunity for Ye Fen, who ate a spirit fruit while competing with Wang Teng on the mountain path. The fruit made her lose control after Wang Teng repeatedly bumped her, leaving them in an awkward standoff.

  • Mei Yanluo asked Jiang Yantian whether his idea would work, and he secretly sent Qi toward the mountain path.
  • Ye Fen spotted a golden spirit fruit, assumed the True Person had bestowed it, and ate it while climbing.
  • Ye Fen's stomach began churning, and she told Wang Teng to kowtow more slowly as his bumps made the pressure worse.
  • Wang Teng kowtowed harder, and Ye Fen let out a loud fart that echoed through the valley.
  • Wang Teng cursed Ye Fen, while she covered her face and stayed silent in embarrassment.

Ch. 1607Chaos

Ye Fen lost control of her stomach after Wang Teng repeatedly struck her back with his kowtows, splashing him and triggering a brutal fight that rolled them back down the mountain steps. After the disciples watched and laughed, the battered pair resumed climbing with more caution.

  • Ye Fen struggled to hold in her diarrhea as Wang Teng deliberately struck her back while kowtowing behind her.
  • Wang Teng hit Ye Fen at the worst moment, and she splashed him across the face.
  • Wang Teng lunged at Ye Fen, and the two fought and rolled from the mountain steps back into the square as the disciples watched.
  • Ye Fen and Wang Teng finally separated, bruised and exhausted, and agreed to continue climbing.
  • Ye Fen resumed leading the climb while Wang Teng kept his distance and carefully kowtowed behind her.

Ch. 1608Reflections

Ye Fen and Wang Teng passed the second trial after kneeling up the mountain all day, then entered the Illusory Secret Realm together for the third trial. Outside, Jiang Yantian ordered the Void Heavenly Palace to prepare to leave and resolved to return to confront the Heavenly Dao.

  • Ye Fen and Wang Teng climbed to the summit after kneeling until sunset, and the elder declared that both had passed the second trial.
  • The elder sent Ye Fen and Wang Teng into the Illusory Secret Realm, where they had to stay together as time flowed much faster inside.
  • Ye Fen and Wang Teng explored the secret realm and shared a room and bed, though they remained awkward and distant.
  • Jiang Yantian ordered Chen Zheng to give everyone a day to rest and prepare to leave the Void Heavenly Palace the following day.
  • Jiang Yantian considered reincarnation, cultivation, and the Heavenly Dao, then announced that he would return and deal with it.
