At this time, Lin Ze has only one feeling, and that is - cool!
After seeing Dumbledore's God of Fire, he always dreamed that one day he could become the god who controlled the flames. Ever since he traveled through time, he had always thought that one day he could be as majestic as Old Dumbledore in front of everyone.
But the monsters we usually encounter are too high-level. Although this kind of spell looks very powerful, it is obviously not good enough to deal with them.
After the fire dragon dissipated, only scorched black marks were left on the slope.
The remains of the monsters were burnt to pieces by the high temperature, mixed with the melted stone slurry, and condensed into a gray-black hard shell after cooling. The vines of the water lotus retracted back to the edge of the swamp, and the dark red light faded completely, and even the sweet smell was roasted away by the fire.
Lin Ze stood at the edge of the observation deck, his wand hanging by his side, his fingers still trembling slightly.
To be honest, the consumption of this move is not that big, and the trembling of the fingers is purely due to excitement.
Although a large amount of magic power is extracted by the spell during the release process, the consumption rate is far less than the speed at which magic power is restored.
He moved his shoulders, the joints clicked twice, and then walked down the stone slope.
The surface of the stone slope was so hot from the flames that you could feel the heat coming from the ground through your boots.
As he walked down, Saira had already walked up to him in advance and was waiting there.
She didn't say anything, but handed over a water bag.
Lin Ze took it and took two sips.
"Are you okay?" Saira asked.
"What can happen to me?" Lin Ze hid his hands that were trembling with excitement.
Lin Ze handed the water bag back to Saira, and the two stood on the rocky slope for a while.
The night wind blew from the direction of the swamp, taking away the last trace of the burnt smell.
The gray-black hard shell on the slope is still emitting fine smoke, and occasionally sparks burst out from the cracks.
"Go down and take a look?" Lin Ze asked.
Saira nodded, and the two walked along the stone slope to the base of the tower.
Not even a single complete corpse of those monsters was left; the charred debris was mixed in the stone slurry, making a crunching sound when stepped on.
"The burning was really clean." Saira squatted down, picked up a piece of debris, looked at it, and threw it back to the ground.
"What was the... name of yours just now?"
"Protego Diabolica." Lin Ze raised the corner of his mouth.
"Protego Diabolica." Saira repeated thoughtfully and put the scimitar back into its sheath.
"What do you wizards call this? A spell?"
"Yes."
Saira thought for a while and swallowed what he wanted to say next.
The two walked around to the tower door. The door panel was still there, but most of it was blackened.
Lin Ze Pushed the door open, and the stone slabs on the first floor were cracked by the heat, but the overall structure did not collapse.
He looked up at the spiral staircase. The stone mill was still stuck in place and the broken handrail was hanging crookedly, just like before.
"Stay here tonight?" Saira asked.
"Stay here, there shouldn't be any more eyeless monsters coming later."
Saira Without saying anything, he took out the blanket from his backpack and went up to the second floor.
Lin Ze set up several defensive spells at the door on the first floor, and used Transfiguration to turn a few pieces of gravel into a simple windshield to cover the door opening.
The fire was rekindled, and Saira sat next to the magic circle and ate dry biscuits.
Lin Ze leaned against the wall, took out the parchment and read the rubbings of the magic circle just now again.
"Still looking at that formation?" Saira came over and took a look.
"I'm thinking about something."
"What's the matter?"
"Could it be that the craftsmen who came here to repair the sentry tower dug something here? Otherwise, this place has been safe and sound for so many years. Why did so many things happen after those craftsmen came?"
"You mean, what did those craftsmen dig out?"
"Not sure."
Lin Ze stood up and looked at the huge stone mill sunken into the stairs on the first floor.
"This thing couldn't have grown its legs and run in by itself, could it?"
"You mean someone pushed it down on purpose?"
"A stone mill weighs several hundred kilograms at least. There is no external force, and it doesn't grow legs on its own. Something must have happened here before."
"After dawn tomorrow, go and look under the tower base." Lin Ze said.
Nothing happened for the rest of the night.
After daybreak, most of the fog on the swamp dissipated. Lin Ze went out and walked around the base of the tower, and found something strange under the wall on the left side of the tower door.
There is a section at the base of the stone wall that is different in color from the other side. It is gray-white with dark red, about two feet wide, and is covered with a thin layer of moss.
Lin Ze squatted down and scraped away the moss. There were scratches on the exposed stone surface, the same messy lines as the magic circle on the second floor, only shallower and more broken.
"There seems to be something down there." Lin Ze put his ear against the stone surface and tapped it twice with his fingers.
The sound was muffled and hollow, and the bottom of the wall was hollow.
Saira also squatted down and tapped the stone surface next to him with the handle of his knife. The sound was deep.
"Dig it up and take a look?" she said.
Lin Ze took a step back and tapped the wand.
"Reducto"
A hole was opened in the stone surface, and rubble flew away, revealing a narrow passage inside.
The entrance to the passage was only half a person's height and was pitch black, with an earthy smell mixed with old mold coming out of it.
The inner wall of the passage is a natural rock wall with no traces of artificial excavation. The bottom is covered with a layer of gravel, which seems to have fallen from the top.
Lin Ze used Lumos to take a photo inside. The passage extended for about ten steps into the depths, and at the end was a flat stone wall with a line of words carved on it.
The same Eastern Tribe text.
"What did you write?" Lin Ze turned around and asked Saira.
Saira came over and recognized it for a while. "It's the same as the word above, Morgana."
Lin Ze stood at the entrance of the passage and stared at the line of words for a long time.
"Does any of the old farmers here use the word Eastern Tribe?"
"Old farmers in the east sometimes use these words when writing land deeds."
"Then where is the tribe you mentioned now?"
Saira straightened up and clasped the machete on his belt. "Go east, pass the the North border and walk for half a month, which is the territory of the Eastern Tribe. However, the relationship there is not so good with ours, and the patrol team rarely goes there."
Lin Ze cleared some more gravel at the entrance of the passage and exited after confirming that there were no other side roads inside.
"Looks like we have to go east."
"Are you serious?"
"I want to find out what the real function of that magic circle is and why it is related to Morgana."
Saira leaned against the tower door and pushed her short hair behind her ears.
"Okay, just go east, but first, I'm not familiar with the Eastern Tribe. If anything happens, you have to be responsible for bringing me back."
"Don't worry, I still have the ability to run away."
Saira looked at him, moved the corner of his mouth slightly, and said nothing more.
The two packed up their things and divided the remaining dry food among themselves.
Lin Ze left marks on the tower door and the magic circle.
"Let's go." He stood on the top of the slope and looked back at the sentry tower.
The stone tower cast a long slanting shadow in the morning light, and the wooden beams on the top were still creaking in the wind.
Saira followed, walked a few steps and suddenly said, "Lin."
"Huh?"
"You said before that you came from a very far away place. Can you... still go back to that place?"
Lin Ze paused for a moment.
"Of course I can go back, but I have to find a way first."
Saira didn't ask any more, and the two of them walked eastward along the slope. The swamp fog slowly closed behind them, swallowing up the outline of the sentry tower.
