Face-slapping at the coffee shop, all about looking cool
"Oh, yes, of course. Just a moment, I'll go prepare the contracts." Zhang Jingyuan was stunned. After a moment's thought, she called the marketing director and told him a major client had arrived, paying in full for five storefronts in the best locations and asking for a discount. The marketing director got excited too and authorized the biggest possible discount, saving Chi Qing another 50,000 yuan, though it still came in the form of shopping cards.
When Chi Qing heard that Zhang Jingyuan had applied for an additional discount even after she had already confirmed the purchase, her impression of Zhang Jingyuan improved. She had always had a good impression of Jingyuan, but she still did not know her very well, after all.
Once the money had been transferred and the contracts were in hand, along with the assorted gifts of all sizes from the sales office and over 250,000 yuan in shopping cards they were carrying, Wang Xiaoyan felt as though she were dreaming.
What was going on? Let me sort this out. We came to discuss a proposal today, got into an argument at the coffee shop, and then bought the storefront it occupied? For over two million yuan?? And bought all the storefronts next to it too, for over ten million???
Looking at Chi Qing walking calmly ahead with the contracts in hand, Wang Xiaoyan finally could not hold back. "Qingqing, what's going on here?" "Nothing much. Weren't you the one who said the coffee shop's storefront was in a good location and would be suitable for a bakery?" Chi Qing replied innocently.
"Me? I said that? Oh, right, I did." Wang Xiaoyan could not quite wrap her head around it.
"Come on, Miaomiao, let's go take possession of our storefronts!" Chi Qing patted Miaomiao's head and spoke playfully.
"Let's go take possession of our storefronts!" Miaomiao bit into the lollipop the sales office counter staff had given her and shouted along.
"Hello, welcome to the 77 Coffee Shop." Hearing someone enter, the young waitress greeted them automatically. When she looked up and saw Chi Qing and the others, her expression instantly changed. "Why are you here again?"
Chi Qing did not even glance at the young waitress and headed straight for the counter. Borrowing Chi Qing's authority, Wang Xiaoyan glared at the waitress too. "Hey, you-" The waitress was furious.
The proprietress was sitting at the counter playing on her phone. At the sound of their voices, she looked up and saw Chi Qing's teasing smile. "Hi, boss. We meet again."
The proprietress was a little impatient and a little confused. What's this about? Back for revenge? But she hasn't brought any backup.
Chi Qing wasted no words. With a slap, she tossed copies of the contracts in front of the proprietress. "You're illegally occupying my storefront. How are we going to resolve this?"
"What do you mean, illegally occupying? Your storefront? Have you lost your mind?" the young waitress who had followed her over snapped furiously.
The proprietress had seen enough of the world, at least, to say nothing more. She picked up the contracts in front of her and began flipping through them. The more she read, the paler she grew. Then she immediately stepped aside to make a call.
Chi Qing knew she must be checking with her brother, the engineering director.
Chi Qing was in no hurry. She and Wang Xiaoyan took Miaomiao over and calmly sat down where they had been sitting before.
Before long, the proprietress and the young waitress came over, each carrying a tray. One held several cups of coffee, and the other held assorted desserts.
"Miss Chi, I'm truly sorry about what happened today." The proprietress sat down, her face wreathed in smiles. "Lili, hurry up and apologize to Miss Chi." "Miss Chi, I'm sorry," the young waitress said resentfully.
Chi Qing smiled without saying anything. "Miss Chi, let's discuss the storefront. As you can see, we've already finished renovating it. We'd like to keep renting the place, at the market rate. We can sign the lease today," the proprietress hurriedly said when Chi Qing remained silent.
In fact, this had been their plan all along. Ideally, no one would buy the storefront, and they could keep using it for free through her brother's privileges. The renovations had not cost them anything anyway. Once someone bought it, if the coffee shop was making money, they would simply sign a contract with the new owner; if it was not, they would just leave. As things stood, the location really was excellent, and the coffee shop's profits were substantial. Of course she wanted to keep renting it.
She simply had not expected that, because of today's argument, the owner would turn out to be the very person she had just quarreled with. This really was...
