The points he had saved up over a hundred years.

Chen Xia steeled himself and put them all into luck.

All he wanted was a bit of good fortune.

[Luck: 141] [Title acquired: Son of Heaven.] [Son of Heaven: You are Heaven's son. Your luck has entered the realm of fantasy. It will not normally show itself, but the bigger the situation, the better your luck will be.]

This was quite suitable for gambling with his life.

Chen Xia nodded. He felt he had gained another trump card and was considerably reassured.

His cultivation had already reached Peak Nascent Soul. With the Giant Turtle Breathing Technique and the Spiritual Qi supplied by the minor grotto-heaven, his cultivation speed could be called terrifying. He was about to reach the Immortal Realm's Mahayana stage.

Old Fisherman had given no clear explanation of how cultivation realms were divided. He had only spoken of above and below Saint: above Saint, one stepped onto the imperial path, then transcended.

Below Saint, they were all ants. There was nothing worth saying.

Within the Great All-Heavens, the Azure Heaven Sword Sea alone had two Great Emperors presiding over it. One occupied the highest point of the azure heavens, the other the deepest part of the sword sea.

Chen Xia, meanwhile, had moved into the disciples' quarters atop a sword blade, where he was kept as a reserve disciple.

There were a hundred reserve disciples in the quarters, in every shape and form, practically an encyclopedia of anomalous creatures.

Chen Xia alone looked plain and unremarkable, with no horns on his head and no tail behind him.

This also made Chen Xia the one most looked down upon.

On top of that, he had a lazy disposition. His defining feature was giving up on trying.

So none of these bizarre-looking reserve disciples wanted to deal with Chen Xia. Even after hearing he was a Great Emperor seedling, they made little effort to associate with him.

There was never a shortage of Great Emperor seedlings. What was scarce was Great Emperors.

Chen Xia was happy to enjoy the peace, too. Every day, he sat outside his door cultivating, waiting to descend into the myriad worlds.

He did not wait long. Old Fisherman arrived with a Daoist meditation cushion and told Chen Xia to sit on it and simply sink his Divine Sense.

"How does it work?" Chen Xia asked curiously.

"Do you want the scientific explanation or the unscientific one?" Old Fisherman asked.

He had adopted the terminology of the technological system.

Chen Xia thought for a while, then answered, "The scientific one."

Old Fisherman replied, "According to a paper by the Mecha Great Saint of the technological branch, a person's spiritual consciousness can be divided into countless portions, and each portion can enter a world independently."

"As for the method of traveling between them, that involves the system of time. The Nuclear-Powered Immortal explained that time is relative..."

"All right, I get it."

Before Old Fisherman could finish, Chen Xia cut in.

Old Fisherman glanced at him and asked again, "Want to hear the unscientific explanation?"

Chen Xia shook his head. "No need."

Because this setup had been unscientific from the moment it appeared.

Especially the moment the Mecha Great Saint and the Nuclear-Powered Immortal appeared, taking that unscientific quality to a whole new level.

Old Fisherman nodded. "Then prepare to sink your Divine Sense. Separate out one percent of it, and it will naturally find a tiny plane where time flows a hundred times faster."

"All right." Chen Xia nodded, gathered his mind, and began controlling his Divine Sense, splitting it off and sinking it down.

With extreme precision, he separated out one percent.

And that one percent began traveling through the myriad worlds of the heavens.

If each of those worlds were a point of light, then what Chen Xia needed to find was one of the tiny points among them.

His Divine Sense swept along swiftly, browsing information on the myriad worlds of the heavens as he searched rapidly.

After an unknown length of time, he finally spotted a tiny sphere of light, flickering all alone in a corner.

Chen Xia's spiritual consciousness stirred and plunged into that tiny sphere of light.

Many memories surged into his spiritual consciousness.

301 CE.

A meteor fell, bringing "superpowers."

The humans who acquired powers became extraordinarily strong, possessing boundless strength, breathing fire, and producing ice.

Alongside their immense power, their temperaments also grew violent, and they began breaking rules and laws.

In 310 CE, superhumans rioted, and the world collapsed.

Year 10 of the New Era.

The new government established the Night Hawk organization, dedicated to hunting down wanted superhumans.

Chen Xia was a junior Night Hawk, sixteen years old, who had just passed his assessment. At that moment, he stood on a street, facing a crowd fleeing in panic.

"Run! A superhuman is coming!"

"Quick, get out of the way! Run!"

"..."

All manner of panicked cries rang out. The crowd fled in terror without any order, and no one paid attention to the stampedes that occurred, because something even more terrifying was behind them.

A superhuman!

Violent fire flared from time to time, blasting apart the windows of buildings and shattering cars, reaping civilians' lives at tremendous speed.

Chen Xia frowned. A thought kept sounding within his body, telling him to protect the civilians.

He considered it briefly and guessed that this thought must be the will of heaven and earth.

As an outsider who had come to this small world, he had been assigned an identity by the Heavenly Dao. Now he had to act in accordance with that identity, or he might be rejected by the will of heaven and earth.

Chen Xia's identity was a Night Hawk of the new government, so naturally, he had to protect the civilians.

There were no other Night Hawks around.

Chen Xia had to act.

All his body's stats were one percent of his original body's. His strength was 3, and his cultivation realm was the Fifth Layer of Qi Refining.

That should be enough, right?

Chen Xia walked forward, against the panicked flow of people, heading toward the source of the erupting flames.

The farther in he went, the more charred corpses he saw, sprawled every which way on the ground, devoid of life.

A frenzied figure wreathed in flame waved the fire in his hands, setting off thunderous blasts as he hunted down the fleeing crowd.

Until he encountered Chen Xia.

"Hello."

Chen Xia greeted him politely, casually pulled a steel pipe from the rubble beside him, and pointed it at Fire Man.

Fire Man wore a cruel expression. The corners of his mouth curled into a savage grin as he said, "Welcome to... the barbecue party!"

Chen Xia frowned.

This guy was something of a sicko.

Explosive flames suddenly rushed at him from the front, a fierce burning sensation tearing at his skin.

Chen Xia bent down, let his arm drop slightly, then abruptly swung it.

The steel pipe whistled through the air and struck Fire Man's head with a bang, drawing blood.

Step!

Chen Xia was already in front of Fire Man. He caught the falling steel pipe, gripped it with both hands, and brought it down hard again.

Fire Man's head was knocked grotesquely askew, but his body remained unchanged, still standing straight in place. He stared at Chen Xia with crazed eyes and flashed another savage grin.

So Chen Xia gave him another blow with the steel pipe.

Bang!

Fire Man's head twisted a bizarre 180°C. He was still smiling, and fierce flames erupted from him, melting the steel pipe.

"I'm going to roast you until you're wonderfully fragrant, crispy outside and tender inside."

Fire Man grinned savagely again.

"No, thanks."

An enormous fist appeared before Fire Man's eyes. What followed was destructive force greater than the steel pipe's, hammering his skull inward. His body could no longer hold up and smashed into the ground.

Chen Xia followed, his fists raining down on Fire Man's head in an extremely rapid, unbroken barrage. He paid no heed to the scorching flames on it and muttered as he struck.

"I can see you've really never learned what Wing Chun is!"

Fire Man's head slammed against the ground repeatedly under the blows, sinking deeper and deeper.

His savage laughter gradually turned into screams. His body struggled, but he had less and less strength to resist. The flames dwindled until they went out, and he stopped breathing.

Chen Xia stood up, raised his fists, burned until the skin split and the flesh gaped, and planted his hands on his hips. Looking at Fire Man's golden-brown, fragrant corpse, he offered his appraisal.

"Now part of the KFC deluxe lunch."
