The people outside had not expected the door to be pulled open from inside, and their expressions changed at once.
But they quickly regained their composure.
It was not as though they had never encountered this before. Some vigilant couples would wake up while they were prying open the door and come out to investigate.
But in the end, hadn't they all been beaten until they knelt and begged for mercy, offering up their supplies with both hands?
There were exactly nine men outside. Li Weiwei had already slipped back into her own apartment the instant Si Beichen opened the door.
All nine men wore black hoods that left only their eyes exposed.
They thought they had disguised themselves well, but Jiang Ci and Si Beichen already knew exactly who each of them was.
Si Beichen had only opened the inner door. The outer, super-security door, which they had spent ages trying and failing to pry open, remained shut.
Each of the nine men held a knife or an axe, putting on the air of a gangster boss who was not to be trifled with.
Wei Tao threatened them in a gruff voice. "You'd better cooperate and open the door. As long as you hand over all your supplies without a fuss, we'll spare your lives."
"Do you want to live or die? Your choice!"
Zhang Shuai also jumped in, unable to wait any longer. He still held a grudge and had wanted to come looking for trouble with this man for ages, but the other seven had kept saying the man was a gangster and had been reluctant to come.
If supplies outside had not become increasingly difficult to find lately, those seven would never have made up their minds to come.
There were nine of them now, against just one man and one woman. What was there to be afraid of? A bunch of cowards.
But during their previous encounters, these two had always worn masks outside. He had never realized the woman was so pretty.
He nudged his brother's arm and whispered, "Bro, this chick's pretty hot."
Si Beichen's gaze instantly locked onto Zhang Shuai.
Zhang Shuai turned his head and met Si Beichen's eyes, giving him a fright.
Why were this man's eyes so frightening, like a vicious wolf's?
Jiang Ci's gaze swept back and forth over the nine men. Each held a sharp blade. She and Si Beichen could win a head-on fight, but they risked getting injured.
An injury now would be troublesome.
Besides, the prospect of bloodshed on her doorstep, or even inside her home, repulsed her somewhat.
But these people had brought their bullying right to her door. She had no intention of letting the tiger return to the mountain.
If she did not deal with them, they would think she was easy to bully.
They clearly could not pry her door open, yet none of the nine showed any intention of leaving. They simply blocked her doorway.
They were determined to wear her down. Did they think this would make her obediently open the door?
Well, how clever of them. She really would obediently open the door.
After all, how could she deal with these scumbags without opening it?
She had already thought of a good way to deal with them without getting hurt.
She ignored the threats from the nine men outside.
Jiang Ci tugged Si Beichen's arm and whispered, "Come here."
Watching Jiang Ci pull Si Beichen into a room, the nine men assumed they wanted to discuss how to divide up their supplies for them and thought nothing of it.
After all, even an idiot could figure out that one man and one woman stood no chance against nine grown men armed with blades.
Jiang Ci pulled a storage box out from under her bed and opened it. Inside were two smoke grenades, four handguns, and ammunition.
She took out a handgun, fitted it with a suppressor, and pressed it into Si Beichen's hand. "Five for me, four for you. Any problems?"
Her series of ruthless moves left Si Beichen repeatedly stunned.
But he quickly fell into step with Jiang Ci.
He hefted the handgun, adjusted his grip to get a feel for it, and nodded.
This was a fine gun, no worse than a Desert Eagle.
They instructed Si Jianhua and Wen Qianyue to stay in their room, lock the door, and not come out.
Because Si Jianhua and Wen Qianyue had never gone outside, no one except Li Weiwei, who had seen them both, knew that four people lived in this apartment.
Ignoring the nine men's astonished looks, the two suddenly drew guns from behind their backs. Bang, bang, bang, bang-two headshots each, instantly killing the four men standing at the front.
The five behind them were dumbstruck. They had never imagined these two would have real guns, and immediately turned to flee in terror.
Jiang Ci swiftly opened the outermost super-security door. Si Beichen darted out first and blocked the stairwell entrance.
He dodged an axe flying toward him. It slammed into the stairwell behind him with a tremendous crash.
After coming out, Jiang Ci reached back and shut the security door again, then shot one of the three men lunging at Si Beichen.
Si Beichen kicked the man who had thrown the axe at him flying, then shot another man who was swinging a knife at him.
Jiang Ci hurriedly fired another shot into the man who had been kicked into the wall.
They had already eliminated seven people without even using the smoke grenades.
Two had slipped through the net. The moment Jiang Ci opened the door, they had hidden in Li Weiwei's apartment, 1103.
Jiang Ci was in no hurry. First, she finished off the seven men lying on the floor, making sure every one of them had stopped breathing, before leisurely going over to knock on the door of 1103.
Zhang Qiang and Zhang Shuai hid behind Li Weiwei's door, trembling. This time, they had really kicked an iron plate.
The man and woman outside were simply murderous maniacs!
Had they known how terrifying those two were, they would never have provoked those two demons, no matter what.
Unfortunately, it was too late to say anything now.
Li Weiwei was frightened too. She had thought it would just be a group fight, never expecting anyone to die.
Their refusal to open the door was just as Jiang Ci had expected. Li Weiwei's parents and younger brother were innocent, and she had no intention of breaking in.
After making sure they would stay inside and not dare come out, Si Beichen began dragging away the bodies one by one, while Jiang Ci brought out a basin of water to clean the bloodstains outside the door.
The seven men still had their masks on. Neither of them removed them, nor did they want to know exactly who those seven were.
They threw them all downstairs. Someone would naturally claim them tomorrow.
The commotion on the eleventh floor had been considerable, but not a single person dared come out to investigate.
Everyone pretended they had heard nothing, afraid of bringing trouble upon themselves.
Only after spraying alcohol to disinfect the area, then air freshener to dispel the smell of blood, did Jiang Ci turn her satisfied gaze back toward 1103.
She had no patience to keep watching them here, but she could not let them off either.
The seven bodies had already been thrown downstairs, and she decided to follow their example and pry open the door.
These people had brought ready-to-use tools for the job. Although they could not pry open her door, they were more than sufficient for Li Weiwei's.
She had only just picked up the tools when Si Beichen took them from her.
Si Beichen had probably pried doors open before. His movements were extremely practiced, and he had Li Weiwei's door open in just a few moves.
It looked very simple and easy.
Li Weiwei's parents were in poor health and were both lying in their room.
Her little brother, Li Yangyang, was also asleep in his room.
Only Zhang Qiang, Zhang Shuai, and Li Weiwei were hiding behind the door.
Si Beichen pushed the door open from outside, and two sharp broadswords came chopping down at his head.
