Background / History

Military Service and Previous Timeline

Si Beichen is Si Jianhua’s son and becomes Jiang Ci’s older stepbrother through their parents’ marriage. Before the disasters, he spends most of his time training or carrying out missions, often leaving him unable to answer family messages. Qian Zimo serves under him and continues addressing him as “Captain” after they leave the military 4 8 11 32.

In Jiang Ci’s previous life, she never met him. She learned afterward that he had died in the line of duty before the natural disasters began. Following her rebirth, she initially leaves his survival to fate because she knows neither the mission nor the timing of his death 4.

Meeting Jiang Ci and Escaping the Flight Crash

Before meeting Jiang Ci, Si Beichen reads her request for “a hundred million-ish” in spending money in the family chat. Unfamiliar with internet phrasing, he interprets it as a request for exactly 100 million yuan and transfers the money. Si Beichen continues buying supplies as public services deteriorate. By December, his purchases include quilts and military coats despite the extreme heat. After beating two groups of would-be robbers, he takes indirect routes home to shake off anyone following him 29.

When nine armed men attempt to rob the apartment, he and Jiang Ci use suppressed handguns to kill seven attackers. He then forces open Li Weiwei’s door, where Zhang Qiang and Zhang Shuai ambush him with broadswords. He disarms and restrains both brothers before Jiang Ci shoots them and Li Weiwei 33 34 35.

Afterward, he agrees to teach Si Jianhua and Wen Qianyue self-defense so they can contribute to their own protection. He later conducts regular practice sessions with the family 35 42 46.

During the conflict over Jiaxing Residential Complex’s well, he joins Jiang Ci on the rooftop with sniper rifles. Their concealed gunfire breaks up a brawl involving more than three hundred people and scatters both sides 39.

Learning Jiang Ci’s Secret

Si Beichen notices early that Jiang Ci produces items that were not previously present. Rather than question or investigate her, he decides that her secret benefits the family and must be protected from outsiders 23.

When Jiang Ci impulsively proposes becoming his girlfriend during their logging trip, he responds that he is her older brother. Although she treats this as a refusal, he privately takes the proposal seriously and begins considering a romantic relationship 42.

During the flooding, he revisits the conversation and tells her he wants to date her. Jiang Ci accepts and kisses the corner of his lips, leaving him visibly flustered. He promptly tells Si Jianhua that they are together 49.

Both parents support the relationship. Si Beichen assures them that he is serious about Jiang Ci, and his already indulgent treatment of her becomes even more pronounced after they start dating 50.

He is cold toward intrusive strangers and decisive in combat, but inexperienced and easily flustered in romance. Despite receiving confessions from school onward and attention from female soldiers, he has never dated before Jiang Ci.
