A new week begins, Monday morning.
Peter had to temporarily put aside his identity as a mad scientist and return to Midtown High School's "purgatory on earth".
In front of the lockers in the corridor, Mary Jane and Liz were chatting together about the weekend gossip. Peter was leaning on the locker door and flipping through textbooks boredly, when suddenly there was a commotion around them.
"Look, who is that new girl?"
"You look real, a transfer student?"
Liz followed everyone's gaze and suddenly exclaimed, "Oh my god, Tandy?!"
Peter looked up suddenly.
Tandy Bowen, wearing a blond ponytail and Midtown High School school uniform, was standing at the corner of the corridor looking pretty.
"Tandy? Why are you here?" Peter looked stunned.
Tandy walked forward quickly, his eyes curled into a pair of crescent moons. "I discussed it with Uncle Michael, and he said that since I already have friends in Midtown High School, transferring here to study is the best choice."
"This is great!" Liz and MJ gathered around him excitedly, pulling Tandy towards the classroom.
Tandy was pulled away by the two of them, but he didn't forget to turn around and wink playfully at Peter.
Peter laughed and shook his head, "Yes, it seems that this high school life is no longer leisurely."
Late that night.
Queens On the roof of an abandoned warehouse, Spider-Man was crouching quietly in the shadows.
Below is the last secret hideout of "Street Rats Gang" in this area. Two gangsters on lookout are leaning against the trash can at the back door and smoking.
"Damn, it's so frustrating," one of them kicked the can next to his feet, "Those guys are having fun inside, but I'm allowed to blow the cold wind outside!"
The other person shrank his neck. "Come on, as long as you can get money."
"Is this all you have to offer? If you don't speak up, you will be stepped on sooner or later!"
"Can hard energy be used as food?" The younger gangster's eyes were a little red and his voice lowered, "My mother is still lying in the intensive care unit... I just want money to save my life."
Peter on the roof looked at the thin boy in silence.
Sympathy is sympathy, but this is by no means an excuse to sell poison to innocent people.
"Sassy, trigger the fire alarm at the front door." Peter whispered under the mask.
"Roger that, sir."
A sharp and ear-piercing alarm sounded instantly inside the warehouse. The front door had already been completely sealed by Peter with a special hardened Silk. The panicked gang members inside would soon realize that the back door was the only way out.
Three, two, one.
The iron door was slammed open, and dozens of thugs armed with sticks and guns swarmed out in panic.
Peter's eyes turned cold, and he threw out a few web shurikens with his backhand, accurately shattering the few remaining street lights in the alley. The entire dark alley instantly fell into darkness.
"What's going on?! Turn on the light!"
Along with the frightened roar, a red and blue figure descended from the sky like a ghost.
Bang! Bang! Click!
Peter shuttled freely among the crowd, and did not even need to use all his strength. He just blocked and counterattacked at the right time, and he was able to knock the rabble away in pieces.
"There he is! Shoot--"
Poof!
A ball of Silk instantly stuck to the barrel of the gun. Peter took advantage of the situation and knocked the strong man to the ground. Then he whipped his leg in the air and kicked the last few resisting gunmen into the garbage.
In less than five minutes, more than forty core members of Street Rats Gang were lying on the ground wailing.
Peter expertly tied everyone into a ball with high-strength spider webs, and then dialed the anonymous hotline of the police station.
Ten minutes later, several police cars with red and blue lights flashing arrived. Peter squatted on the roof of the building across the street and watched quietly as the police escorted the criminals one by one into the prison van.
The breeze blew through the night sky, and Peter leaned on the railing and fell into deep thought.
During this period, dimension travel, Magic runes, Sinister Six... various supernatural crises emerged one after another, and he almost forgot his own job as a "friendly neighbor".
But he still couldn't figure out one question: after experiencing alien invasions and countless supernatural events, why were New York's low-level crimes still repeatedly banned?
The boy who turned to crime in order to treat his mother's illness is just a microcosm of countless tragedies. People at the bottom cannot feel the protection and fairness of order, and gangs and gray industrial chains will naturally fill the power vacuum.
If replaced by Doctor Octopus in the arrogant period, he would probably create an army of drones, implement high-pressure rule, and turn the entire city into a cage under surveillance. But that would only treat the symptoms but not the root cause, and would even make him a dictator despised by thousands of people.
The real root of the problem is not in the streets, but in the hands of well-dressed top politicians.
Like Nick Davis and his like before, they colluded with gangs and embezzled welfare funds. It is this rotten profit chain that continuously provides nutrients for crime.
"If it's useless to knock out the pawns at the bottom, then you can only uproot the players behind the scenes." Peter said to himself.
Doing this is destined to turn him from a superhero in the eyes of the citizens to an officially wanted "dangerous element", but in order to completely eradicate the city's cancer, he doesn't care.
"It seems that I will have to spend a lot of time monitoring those bureaucrats who tell lies. It will be a headache."
