Background

Nami was a bullied Mermaid Girl encountered by Ning Bei in Vast Sea City. Her awakened Martial Soul, Tidecaller, was unknown on the Douluo Continent but immediately recognized by Ning Bei. After awakening, she transformed into a human. Ning Bei accepted her as his disciple, gave her the name “Nami,” and took her away from the place where she had been mistreated. 134 135

Although she possessed Innate Full Soul Power, Nami had lost years without becoming a Soul Master. She responded by committing herself to extreme cultivation, initially intending to train for twenty hours each day so she could catch up with Ning Bei’s other disciples. 135 139
