Ch. 382Only beauties deserved the strong

Lynn advised Foltest to avoid Maribor and move against Dagon, then arranged to seek Margarita Laux-Antille’s help. At Lake Vizima, Lynn was ambushed by Corrupted Vodyanoi and burned them with Igni.

  • Lynn urged Foltest to hide inland, evacuate the villages around Lake Vizima, and strike directly at Dagon instead of searching Maribor for minions.
  • Triss asked why Lynn had requested land for her, and Lynn explained that a sorceress taking lordship would draw less attention than a witcher doing so.
  • Lynn and Triss told Keira that Lynn had exposed and defeated Hereward, and Triss asked Keira to protect Foltest.
  • Lynn asked Triss to send him outside Vizima and persuade Margarita Laux-Antille to help defeat Dagon, with Tissaia as a backup option.
  • Lynn entered Lake Vizima at dusk, where Corrupted Vodyanoi emerged and ambushed him.
  • Lynn cast Igni and set the Corrupted Vodyanoi ablaze before they could escape into the lake.

Ch. 383They're here, they're here

Lynn slaughtered hundreds of Corrupted Vodyanoi, then traveled to Black Tern Island to seek the Lady of the Lake as the evil god Dagon’s corruption worsened. She met him at her temple and sensed how much stronger he had become.

  • Lynn fought off and killed several hundred Corrupted Vodyanoi without suffering injury or using much stamina.
  • Lynn noticed that Dagon’s corruption was growing worse and headed for the swamp outside Vizima.
  • Lynn found the Fisher King and asked him to take him to the Lady of the Lake.
  • The Fisher King judged Lynn worthy, rowed him to Black Tern Island, and directed him toward the temple.
  • Lynn greeted the Lady of the Lake at the pool, and she appeared and remarked on his increased strength.

Ch. 384Divine Armament Aerondight

Lynn persuaded the Lady of the Lake to lend him her sword, reshaped it into a colossal weapon, and received a blood gem to lure Dagon from his underwater lair. With the plan to fight the evil god taking shape, Lynn contacted allies to gather for the battle.

  • Lynn told the Lady of the Lake that Dagon had grown stronger and asked to borrow her sword to defeat him.
  • The Lady of the Lake agreed and transformed her sword into the colossal form Lynn had drawn on parchment.
  • Lynn tested the sword and declared himself ready to use it against Dagon.
  • The Lady of the Lake gave Lynn a blood gem and explained that it could lure Dagon to his temple on Black Tern Island.
  • Lynn contacted Tissaia, Mousesack, Geralt, and Yennefer to gather allies for the fight.

Ch. 385Half-fishmen's lives mattered too

Lynn gathered allies in Vizima to attack the evil god Dagon at Lake Vizima, and they traveled to Black Tern Island to prepare for battle. After Lynn placed the Lady of the Lake’s blood gem on Dagon’s altar, Dagon roared and summoned a vast army of corrupted half-fishmen, though he did not appear.

  • Lynn recruited Regis and Dettlaff to join the fight against Dagon.
  • Tissaia, Yennefer, Geralt, Mousesack, Regis, Dettlaff, and Margarita Laux-Antille gathered with Lynn and Triss at an inn in Vizima.
  • The group crossed Lake Vizima in a boat made of ice and reached Black Tern Island, where they prepared for battle at Dagon’s altar.
  • Lynn placed the Lady of the Lake’s blood gem on the altar, provoking Dagon’s deafening roar and a violent earthquake.
  • Tissaia’s spell eased the pain caused by Dagon’s roar, and thousands of corrupted half-fishmen emerged from the lake to surround the group while Dagon remained absent.

Ch. 386Fierce battle

Lynn led Geralt, Regis, Dettlaff, Mousesack, and the sorceresses in defending the altar against tens of thousands of fallen half-fishmen. By evening, their magic and alchemical bombs had sharply reduced the attackers, but the battle continued.

  • Lynn assigned Geralt, Regis, Dettlaff, and Mousesack to defend the shallows while the sorceresses protected the altar and attacked the advancing fallen half-fishmen.
  • Margarita Laux-Antille and Yennefer raised a barrier with a gap facing the shallows, while Tissaia and Triss bombarded the attackers with magic.
  • Lynn and the others threw Superior Northern Wind Bombs, freezing the lake water and many fallen half-fishmen in the attackers' path.
  • Lynn, Geralt, Regis, Dettlaff, and Mousesack fought the fallen half-fishmen on the shallows as Margarita Laux-Antille and Yennefer maintained the barrier.
  • The battle lasted from noon until evening, leaving the lake red with blood and the fallen half-fishmen's numbers sharply diminished.

Ch. 387A Righteous Gang-Up

Lynn and his allies drove the Corrupted Vodyanoi into retreat, forcing Dagon’s Evil Shadow to emerge from Lake Vizima. They began a three-on-one fight against the monster near the altar, with Regis and Dettlaff injured and rescued by Mousesack.

  • Lynn and his allies fought the Corrupted Vodyanoi for hours until the survivors fled in fear.
  • Dagon’s Evil Shadow emerged from the lake and sent towering waves crashing against the protective barrier held by Margarita Laux-Antille and Yennefer.
  • Lynn charged Dagon’s Evil Shadow, but his sword barely cracked the monster’s armor-like flesh, and the trident knocked him back.
  • Regis and Dettlaff attacked Dagon’s Evil Shadow, but its corrosive black-water spray melted Regis’s arm and removed Dettlaff’s legs.
  • Lynn interrupted the monster’s next attack while Mousesack used vines to rescue Regis and Dettlaff.
  • Geralt and Lynn attacked Dagon’s Evil Shadow from different sides, and Mousesack joined them in a three-on-one fight.

Ch. 388The Evil of This World-That's It?

Lynn, Geralt, Mousesack, the sorceresses, Regis, and Dettlaff wore down Dagon's Evil Shadow until Lynn pierced His heart with the Lady of the Lake's Sword. The three witchers prepared to finish Him with fire.

  • Lynn, Geralt, Mousesack, and the sorceresses attacked Dagon's Evil Shadow while defending against His corrosive black water.
  • As Dagon's Evil Shadow's skin cracked, Lynn and Mousesack coordinated their defenses and Geralt interrupted His spraying attack.
  • Dagon's Evil Shadow tried to flee toward the lake, but Regis and Dettlaff blocked His path and harried Him.
  • Lynn cut into Dagon's Evil Shadow's back, drawing blood and making Him flee in fear.
  • Mousesack bound Dagon's Evil Shadow with thorny vines, allowing Lynn to leap down and drive the Lady of the Lake's Sword through His heart.
  • Lynn, Geralt, and Mousesack stood together and unleashed flames at Dagon's Evil Shadow.

Ch. 389You are

After defeating Dagon’s projection, Lynn received the Lady of the Lake’s sword and a powerful new title. He and Triss then traveled with Foltest’s knights to Crow’s Perch, where they announced Triss as Velen’s new lord.

  • The Lady of the Lake thanked Lynn, gave him the Lady of the Lake’s Sword, and granted him the title Divine Chosen Champion.
  • Several days later, Lynn and Triss traveled through a portal to Velen with a company of knights sent by Foltest.
  • Triss explained that the knights would serve as her vassals and help prevent Baron Velerad from resisting her appointment.
  • The party reached Crow’s Perch, where guards challenged them at the bridge checkpoint.
  • A knight identified Triss as Foltest’s newly appointed lord of Velen, leaving the guards confused.

Ch. 390Velen

Triss took possession of Velen after Baron Velerad accepted the king’s order to leave Crow’s Perch, then dismissed the officials who urged her to ignore most of the province. She set out with Lynn to inspect the villages, arriving at Midcopse, where frightened villagers gathered to meet them.

  • A knight presented Foltest’s charter naming Triss lord of Velen and ordering Velerad’s family to move to a smaller fief outside Vizima.
  • Velerad accepted the king’s order and left Crow’s Perch with his family and trusted men.
  • Triss learned that Velen’s officials knew little about the province and advised her to avoid its villages because of the Ladies of the Wood.
  • Triss dismissed the officials and asked Lynn to help inspect Velen.
  • Triss and Lynn led the party to Midcopse, where the villagers feared the armed newcomers until they were told to gather in the village clearing.

Ch. 391Food Is Better Than Medicine

Lynn fed the starving villagers, learned that a Daytime Wraith and a creature in the nearby forest had terrorized them, and destroyed the wraith with the Lady of the Lake's Sword. He then headed into the forest to hunt the second monster.

  • The knight announced Triss as the villagers’ new lord, and Lynn saw that the villagers were starving and listless.
  • Lynn cooked meat and broth for the villagers and knights, then asked the village chief about the dangers facing the village.
  • The village chief told Lynn about a Daytime Wraith and a creature that had killed hunters in the nearby forest, and Lynn promised to deal with both in exchange for the villagers fulfilling their tax obligations.
  • Lynn refused Triss’s offer to accompany him and asked her and the knights to stay and treat the villagers.
  • Lynn found the Daytime Wraith in the fields and destroyed it with the Lady of the Lake’s Sword.
  • Lynn went into the nearby forest to seek the second monster.

Ch. 392Fiend

Lynn killed a Fiend and helped villages across Velen before returning to Crow’s Perch with his party. In Downwarren, he executed corrupted villagers, destroyed items tied to the Ladies of the Wood, and relocated the rest to Crow’s Perch.

  • Lynn tracked a Fiend to its lair, killed it, and burned its corpse after taking its head as proof.
  • Lynn returned to the village and told the villagers he had also destroyed the Daytime Wraith, warning them to avoid the forest and promising to arrange for its monsters to be cleared.
  • Lynn and his party spent several days checking that the Daytime Wraith had not returned, then continued through Velen to help villages with urgent problems.
  • Lynn discovered that some Downwarren villagers had offered their ears to the Ladies of the Wood and that corruption had taken hold in the village.
  • Lynn executed the corrupted villagers, burned items connected to the Ladies of the Wood, and ordered the unaffected villagers to move to Crow’s Perch.
  • After nearly two months traveling through Velen, Lynn and his party returned to Crow’s Perch with the relocated villagers.

Ch. 393Bald Mountain

Lynn prepared Velen for the Ladies of the Wood’s annual feast, then went alone to Bald Mountain to confront their followers. After killing the guards on the mountain path, he reached the gathering and found that the attendees were less corrupted than their guards.

  • Lynn kept the displaced residents near Crow’s Perch, arranged grain relief as a loan, spread the Eternal Fire through Velen, and had the Order of Hospitallers patrol the roads.
  • After spending two months helping Triss govern Velen, Lynn traveled alone to Bald Mountain on the day of the Ladies of the Wood’s feast.
  • Lynn drank several potions, deflected a crossbow bolt, and killed the guard who had fired it.
  • Lynn fought through the farmers guarding the mountain path, killing them even after some tried to flee.
  • Lynn reached a clearing where flower-crowned followers had gathered around bonfires and used Detect Evil to find that they were not as corrupted as the guards.

Ch. 394So You're the Fuckers Called the Ladies of the Wood?

Lynn cleared the clearing on Bald Mountain and fought his way through the mountain to confront the Ladies of the Wood. He found the three sisters preparing a feast and ordered them to kill themselves, leaving them stunned.

  • Lynn gave the crowd one minute to leave, then killed those who stayed and burned their bodies when they continued praying to the Ladies of the Wood.
  • Lynn entered the mountain passage, drank a Superior Cat Potion, and killed the relict Fugas, who guarded the route.
  • Lynn searched the winding tunnels, descended through a waterfall, and reached a cave deep within the oak roots.
  • The three Ladies of the Wood welcomed Lynn and offered to follow him and pledge their loyalty.
  • Lynn ordered all three sisters to kill themselves, and they exchanged startled glances.

Ch. 395I'm in a hurry. All three of you, come at me together

Lynn killed the three Crones on Bald Mountain and destroyed the mountain with alchemical bombs. Meanwhile, Triss handled Crow's Perch's administrative affairs, and a newly formed Eternal Fire force arrived at an outpost to meet Lynn.

  • Lynn killed Brewess with the Lady of the Lake's Sword, trapped Whispess and Weavess with Yrden, and destroyed their corpses after killing them.
  • Lynn planted superior alchemical bombs throughout Bald Mountain, then detonated them from his boat and shattered the mountain.
  • Triss signed documents and showed that she could manage Crow's Perch's administrative affairs with help from her housekeeper.
  • A party of Eternal Fire Hospitallers and priests arrived at the Inn at the Crossroads outpost, where their commander met the waiting Lynn.

Ch. 396Jacques of Aldersberg

Lynn appointed Jacques of Aldersberg to help secure and improve Velen, then learned that the witchers sent south had recruited several survivors from other schools. The new witchers arrived at Castel Ravello Vineyard, expanding Lynn’s growing group.

  • Jacques of Aldersberg told Lynn he had brought 110 knights and 22 priests, and Lynn assigned them to protect and serve Velen’s villages.
  • Lynn organized village patrols, supplied silver weapons and alchemical bombs, and formed a local guard force as security and living conditions in Velen improved.
  • Auckes, Serrit, Gerd, Eskel, and Lambert brought Aiden and Gaetan of the School of the Cat to Castel Ravello Vineyard.
  • Auckes and Serrit recruited Kolgrim of the School of the Viper, who agreed to join them in heading north.
  • Gaetan persuaded Ivo of Belhaven of the School of the Bear to join by discussing the material benefits directly.

Ch. 397The witchers gathered

Lynn gathered newly recruited witchers in Novigrad and demonstrated his strength by attacking an Endrega colony in Velen alone. He killed the Endrega queen while Duya and Kolgrim watched.

  • Gaetan persuaded Ivo and the other southern witchers to seek work in the North, and the group traveled to Castel d'Accia Vineyard, where Duya joined them.
  • Eskel asked Lynn for instructions, and Lynn sent the newly recruited witchers to Novigrad while allowing the others to return to Kaer Morhen.
  • Lynn introduced himself to Aiden, Gaetan, Kolgrim, Ivo, and Duya, then took them to a forest in Velen and ordered them to wait outside as he entered alone.
  • After hearing the battle, Duya and Kolgrim entered the forest and found Lynn had killed many Endregas with his sword.
  • Lynn struck the Endrega queen in the mouth, wounded it along its side, and drove the Lady of the Lake's Sword into its head, killing it.

Ch. 398A letter from the north

Lynn recruited more witchers, organized support for their work, and helped resettle nonhumans in Novigrad and Velen. Two years later, Istredd called on him to honor their agreement and help restore the Thyssen family's kingdom, and Lynn accepted.

  • Duya and Kolgrim swore allegiance to Lynn after witnessing him kill the endrega queen, and Aiden, Gaetan, and Ivo accepted his leadership after inspecting the battlefield.
  • Lynn equipped the five newly recruited witchers with school-specific gear, superior potions, and alchemical bombs, then arranged for them to work as a team.
  • George returned from Kaer Seren with Keldar and Coën, who agreed to join Lynn's witcher school; Lynn assigned them to escort Tyensail and apprentice blacksmiths to Kaer Morhen.
  • Chappelle arranged support and teachers for orphanages, while the Rustwater Cartel moved nonhumans from Kaedwen to Novigrad, where Lynn found them work or land in Velen.
  • Two years later, a Rustwater Cartel merchant delivered Istredd's letter to Lynn at Crow's Perch, and Lynn agreed to help with the Thyssen family's restoration plan.

Ch. 399The war to reclaim Kovir

Lynn prepared for Istredd’s war to reclaim Kovir by gathering witchers and arranging supplies. After reaching Talgar with them, he chose to camp outside the Thyssen army’s military camp.

  • Lynn told Dudu to buy up carmine, sell off indigo, and offer high prices for griffin eggs, anticipating a change of power in Kovir and Poviss.
  • Lynn spent two months in Novigrad preparing superior alchemical bombs and potions while waiting for the witchers.
  • Eskel, Lambert, Letho, Serrit, Auckes, Kolgrim, Aiden, Gaetan, Gerd, Ivo, George, Coën, and Duya arrived, while Geralt, Berengar, and Keldar remained at Kaer Morhen.
  • Lynn chartered a barge and brought the witchers to Talgar, where they rode to the Thyssen army’s camp outside Talgar City.
  • Lynn showed the cavalry officer Istredd’s signet ring, then declined an offer to camp inside the military camp because witchers might face prejudice.

Ch. 400An army approached

Lynn met Istredd and chose to use his real identity while earning merit in the coming war. Meanwhile, an army of more than ten thousand from the Hengfors League approached Shabard, and the city’s lord arrived on the walls as its gates were shut.

  • Lynn left Letho in charge of the witchers and instructed them to camp away from the army and avoid unnecessary conflict.
  • Lynn met Istredd, declined immediate knighthood, and said he would earn merit first.
  • Istredd asked whether Lynn needed a new identity, but Lynn decided to act openly as a witcher and was unconcerned about sorcerers targeting him.
  • A watchman spotted a large Hengfors League army approaching Shabard and rang the alarm bell.
  • The captain ordered the city gates shut and sent word to the lord, who arrived on the walls with his guards.

Ch. 401What a vicious scheme

The Hengfors League invaded Talgar, taking Shabard and besieging Panhu City while King Niedamir used the execution of Shabard’s nobles to weaken resistance. Istredd summoned the restoration army’s nobles and Lynn, then decided to help Lady Benigna repel the invasion before restoring his homeland.

  • King Niedamir ordered the Hengfors army to attack Shabard after its defenders refused to surrender.
  • Istredd summoned Lynn and the restoration army’s nobles and told them the Hengfors League had invaded Talgar.
  • Istredd explained that King Niedamir had taken Shabard, executed its nobles, and was besieging Panhu City.
  • The nobles recognized that Niedamir’s treatment of Shabard’s commoners was meant to divide Talgar’s people from its ruling class.
  • Istredd declared that he would help Lady Benigna drive out the Hengfors League before resuming his campaign to restore his homeland.
