Background / History
The sect was known for possessing powerful human Combat Skills, prompting Chen Xuan to seek admission after the Amethyst Winged Lion King identified it as a major Jia Ma Empire faction. Chen Xuan’s original objective was access to its techniques rather than allegiance to its cause 4 11.
Its annual recruitment assessment accepted candidates under eighteen who had reached Dou Qi Power Stage Six, although exceptional younger talents could be admitted by exception. Assessment disciples maintained order at the mountain gate, while Elder Ge oversaw testing and recruitment 11.
Chen Xuan entered the sect as a thirteen-year-old One-Star Dou Zhe and was immediately treated as a priority talent. Yun Yun authorized him to select a Combat Skill from the first floor of the Combat Skill Pavilion, then later ordered an investigation into his background and an increase in his cultivation resources 13 23.
The sect suffered catastrophic damage when it discovered Chen Xuan had concealed abilities far beyond his displayed cultivation. Its leaders attempted to detain him, but Chen Xuan destroyed the main hall and much of Cloud Mist Mountain during the resulting battle 62 63 64. Yun Shan’s intervention and the sect’s eventual surrender secured Yun Yun’s release, but required the sect to give Chen Xuan Wind’s Extreme, high-grade elixirs, reserves of gold, and an additional one hundred million Gold Coins 67 70.
More than a year later, Cloud Mist Mountain had still not fully recovered. The sect nevertheless joined the Jia Ma Empire’s response to the Snake People Race, with Yun Shan agreeing to confront Queen Medusa 126 127. After the Snake People Race was attacked, Chen Xuan returned for revenge; the senior members had already fled, leaving disciples and low-level elders behind. Chen Xuan ordered their extermination and annihilated the mountain with a Four-Colored Fire Lotus 152.

Relationships
- Jia Ma Empire — The sect was its largest sect and was called upon to support imperial forces against the Snake People Race 11 125 126.
- Nalan Clan — Nalan Yanran’s status as Yun Yun’s direct disciple elevated her clan’s standing; Nalan Ye relied on that connection to intimidate others 11 12.
- Mo Family — A subordinate force that invoked Cloud Mist Sect protection when threatened; Mo Cheng’s death publicly challenged the sect’s authority 48 49.

- Xiao Yan — His Three-Year Agreement duel with Nalan Yanran ended in conflict when Yun Leng attempted to detain him over Mo Cheng’s death; the sect later set aside its grievances to join an anti–Snake People Race alliance 51 60 143.
- Chen Xuan — Initially nurtured as a genius disciple, he later exposed his concealed power, extorted the sect’s resources, and ultimately destroyed it 13 63 70 152.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Chen Xuan’s Admission
Chen Xuan entered the sect to obtain Combat Skills, passed its recruitment assessment, and became an unusually favored new disciple due to his cultivation at age thirteen 11 13. His conflicts with Nalan Ye, Nalan Yanran, Mo Li, and Li Wei quickly established his disruptive reputation within the sect 12 14 24 27.
Three-Year Agreement
Cloud Mist Mountain hosted Xiao Yan and Nalan Yanran’s Three-Year Agreement. The sect’s disciples and senior members expected Nalan Yanran’s sect training and Wind’s Extreme to secure her victory, but Xiao Yan defeated her 51 52 53 54.
Chen Xuan’s Exposure and Extortion
Yun Yun summoned Chen Xuan for questioning after his extraordinary strength and collection of flames aroused suspicion. Gu He and another elder attacked to test him, provoking Chen Xuan into revealing Dou Huang power and initiating a battle that devastated the sect 62 63 64.
Yun Shan emerged from seclusion to defend the sect, but Chen Xuan’s temporary Dou Zong strength overwhelmed its defenders. To save Yun Yun, Yun Shan surrendered Wind’s Extreme, the sect’s accumulated resources, and a ransom of one hundred million Gold Coins 66 67 68 70.
Alliance and Destruction
Despite its losses, the sect later joined the Jia Ma Empire’s campaign against Queen Medusa and the Snake People Race 126 143. Chen Xuan subsequently returned to Cloud Mist Mountain seeking revenge; after finding the senior members gone, he ordered the slaughter of those remaining and erased the sect with a Four-Colored Fire Lotus 152.
