Su Yi looked at the little trinkets in front of him and said to Yang Zhengcheng, "Buy everything at this stall for me and have it sent to my house. Count how many pieces there are!"
"These things?" Yang Zhengcheng frowned. "They're all just handicrafts."
The vendor grew anxious when he heard that. "Hey! Old man, are you here to wreck my business? What do you mean, they're all just handicrafts? I've got plenty of good stuff here! You're ruining my reputation by saying that."
Su Yi said, "I'm not looking for antiques anyway. Modern handicrafts are pretty nice. I'll put them around my house for fun."
Feeling utterly ignored, the vendor called out to Su Yi, "Young man, didn't you hear me? I've got plenty of antiques here. If you want to buy everything, it'll cost at least two hundred thousand. I won't sell for a penny less!"
"Two thousand for everything. Selling or not?" Su Yi stared at the vendor after saying that.
Fuck! Again?
The vendor had never seen a gaze like that. He was clearly such a young fellow, so why did being stared at by him make the vendor feel as though he had been seen through completely?
Selling everything for two thousand would net him nearly eight hundred today.
But this was a fucking antique stall!
Did he know what an antique stall was?
The kind that made no sales for a year, then made enough from one sale to live on for a year!
Wouldn't selling like this be a disgrace?
"It's yours!" The vendor gritted his teeth. It looked like he couldn't set up his stall here anymore. He might as well find another patch of ground to earn his living.
Yang Zhengcheng couldn't help smiling. "Two thousand is a good price." With that, he scanned the payment code and paid. There were nine little items on this stall, which meant he was paying two thousand to learn nine characters. That was worth it no matter how he calculated it!
"Young man, where do you live? I'll have someone deliver them to your house." After paying, Yang Zhengcheng couldn't help feeling a little anticipation. If Su Yi really knew those characters, what harm was there in actually taking him as his master?
"Wutong Street, the courtyard with the parasol tree. Just leave the things in the courtyard." Su Yi glanced at Yang Zhengcheng after saying that. "Nine characters, not one more. I'm in a good mood today, so I can teach you. But if you want to learn more later, that'll depend on my mood!"
Yang Zhengcheng gave an awkward smile. What an arrogant young man!
Whether he could learn the characters depended on this young man's mood?
"Old Yang, let's go! Why put up with this?" The elderly man beside Yang Zhengcheng couldn't stand watching anymore. Su Yi's words, his tone, his attitude-they were simply unacceptable.
Yang Zhengcheng waved a hand, took out a pen and notebook, and immediately wrote down a character.
"Young man, how do you read this character?"
Su Yi glanced at it and said, "This character stands for Old Daoist Hongjun."
"One character stands for Daoist Hongjun?" Yang Zhengcheng frowned. This was probably a little like English-a single word.
"What about this character?"
"Bored."
"Ahem! What's boring about it?"
"I'm saying this character means bored. Are you stupid?"
Su Yi looked at Yang Zhengcheng with undisguised disdain, but Yang Zhengcheng still didn't get angry. He gave a sheepish smile and immediately wrote down another character.
"Dead!"
This time, Yang Zhengcheng didn't ask any more questions. He wrote down all the remaining characters in succession, then wrote all the meanings Su Yi translated beneath them.
He had scrambled the individual characters he wrote down. Once Su Yi had translated all nine, their combined meaning actually read: Daoist Hongjun died, felt a little bored, and split his divine soul into three parts, treating it as a rebirth.
One Qi Transforms into Three Pure Ones?
Yang Zhengcheng recalled the other passages Su Yi had translated earlier. The characters and their meanings seemed to match up as well.
These mysterious characters looked simple, yet they were extraordinary. If Su Yi had merely been talking nonsense earlier, there was absolutely no way he could have translated them so accurately off the cuff.
He really understood the writing on the stone tablet!
Yang Zhengcheng stared at Su Yi, his pupils contracting sharply, and said excitedly, "Young man, what else do you want? Anything that catches your eye, I'll buy it for you."
Su Yi frowned. "I told you, I only gave you this chance because I'm in a good mood today. If you keep bothering me, get the hell out."
Yu Huiyin and the others were dumbstruck. This was far too alarming.
Someone had actually told Yang Zhengcheng to get the hell out?
The staff behind Yang Zhengcheng couldn't help speaking up either. "So he knows a few characters. Does he have to be this arrogant? Elder Yang, let's just go."
"Who knows where this brat crawled out from? I really want to go over and give him a good beating!"
Yang Zhengcheng was trembling all over. The bodyguards behind him thought it was from anger. Someone had already stepped forward to support him and urged, "Elder Yang, don't be angry. I'll go teach this arrogant brat a lesson right now."
"Don't you dare!" Yang Zhengcheng's face flushed red with excitement. He grabbed the bodyguard behind him, then carefully offered Su Yi a business card. "It's young Mr. Su, right? When you're in a good mood again, could you teach me some more characters?"
Su Yi didn't even take his business card. "We'll talk when I'm in a good mood. Take your people and leave. You're making it very unpleasant to browse."
Wasn't the reason he had taught him simply that he found him a little annoying?
Nine characters were about enough.
Yang Zhengcheng awkwardly withdrew his business card and told the people around him, "Stop standing around here. Everyone, disperse! Deliver the things to young Mr. Su's house."
Su Yi strode away, and Yu Huiyin could only hurry after him. She had truly never met anyone as arrogant as Su Yi. Even people worth billions or tens of billions wouldn't dare speak to Yang Zhengcheng like that.
Although Yang Zhengcheng didn't have much money, his students were spread across every industry, with who knew how many powerful figures and high-ranking officials among them.
Offending Yang Zhengcheng really was courting death!
Yet even after being berated, Yang Zhengcheng had remained so humble toward Su Yi. It was unheard of!
"Su Yi, can't you... be a little more polite to people?" Yu Huiyin had seen a little of Su Yi's ability, but the way he spoke was simply too arrogant.
Su Yi looked at Yu Huiyin and blinked. "I've been fairly polite to you, haven't I?"
Yu Huiyin was speechless. Was Su Yi polite to him?
Please, he was clearly ordering him around like a maid!
Did that count as polite?
"We've browsed enough. I should head to the place where I'll be working." Su Yi had already lost interest.
There was no denying that this street certainly had genuine antiques. If Su Yi wanted to "pick up bargains," he would undoubtedly find one every time, but he had no interest whatsoever in these so-called antiques.
Antiques?
If he wanted antiques, he could dig up as many of the world's ancient tombs as he pleased.
None of these antiques counted as anything good in Su Yi's eyes. To him, they weren't even as interesting as modern handicrafts.
Especially those everyday necessities-the things they had now seemed more comfortable to use.
