"What happened? How did you let that kid get through?"
"Stop him, now! If he disturbs Old Master Jiang, let's see how you answer for it!"
"Fuck, where did this kid come from?"
The security guards were losing their minds. For something like this to happen right under their noses was simply too terrifying.
They had been entrusted by wealthy businessmen to protect Jiang Changfeng, yet now a young man of unknown origins had walked right up to Jiang Changfeng before their very eyes.
If anything happened to Jiang Changfeng, none of them would get off lightly.
The guards swarmed forward. Su Yi remained indifferent, while Jiang Changfeng raised his brows slightly, held out a hand, and shouted in a deep voice, "All of you, stand down!"
"Within one minute, everyone must leave this place."
Jiang Changfeng trembled all over. These people had nearly offended Su Yi.
The guards dared not disobey Jiang Changfeng. They quickly prepared to withdraw and drive everyone off the mountaintop.
"Master..." Jiang Changfeng looked up at Su Yi, bending his knees slightly as he was about to kneel.
Su Yi caught his hand and said quietly, "Let's talk inside."
"Yes!" Jiang Changfeng hunched over, turned sideways, bowed slightly, and lowered his head, gesturing for Su Yi to go ahead.
Su Yi saw nothing inappropriate about this. Jiang Changfeng looked very old, but compared with him, he was still far too young.
"Holy shit! What's going on?"
"Is something wrong with my eyes? Old Master Jiang seems very... very respectful toward that kid?"
"This is insane! Has the whole world gone mad?"
None of them could believe what they were seeing.
Jiang Changfeng was actually following that young man with his head lowered, like a servant.
Who knew what those big shots would think if they saw this scene?
So many wealthy people had spent millions, tens of millions, even hundreds of millions, yet still failed to meet Jiang Changfeng.
But now, not only had Jiang Changfeng met this strange young man, he had even welcomed him inside with such deference.
Just who was this young man?
Once those assigned to protect Jiang Changfeng recovered their senses, they immediately reported everything they had seen to their bosses.
"A strange young man? Does he look very young, very... very unusual?"
"Master is back! Master is back!"
"He's actually still alive... and still so young..."
Those who had once followed Su Yi were all stunned upon receiving the news from their subordinates, each harboring different thoughts.
There was shock, excitement, fear, and worry, while some developed particular ideas of their own.
Inside the old residence, nothing seemed to have changed, from the placement of the tables and chairs to the smallest objects.
Returning to this residence after fifty years, Su Yi felt a little more familiarity.
"Master, please sit. I'll pour you some tea." By now, Jiang Changfeng could barely control his emotions.
Su Yi looked Jiang Changfeng over, then sat in the chair he had often used before. On the table beside it still sat the teacup he used to use.
The objects remained, but the people had changed. Fifty years ago, Jiang Changfeng had been a strong young man who, as the steward, kept everything in the household in perfect order. Now he was an old man past seventy.
There was no telling how the servants who had once attended Su Yi in this home were living now.
Jiang Changfeng soon brought out a Song dynasty Jun ware tea set. Exquisite and complete, this set would surely have been exhibited as a national treasure if brought out into the world. Who could have imagined that someone actually used it to drink tea?
Jiang Changfeng boiled some water and carefully brewed a pot of tea for Su Yi.
Su Yi took a sip, set down his cup, and said mildly, "Changfeng, tell me about the world today."
Jiang Changfeng stood before Su Yi with his back bent, his eyes still red. "Master, the world has become a better place now. The country is prosperous and the people are at peace, and technology is advancing rapidly. Many new things have appeared. As for the specifics... this old servant hasn't left the mountain in all these years, so I don't really know. Why don't I summon Xiao Zhao and the others and have them tell you?"
Su Yi shook his head with a smile. "No need. Once I left back then, they were no longer my servants. They're all in their seventies and eighties now. Am I really to make them bow and scrape before me?"
Having lived for so many years, what Su Yi understood best was the human heart.
Those servants had all received certain benefits from him back then. Things he considered insignificant were enough for them to stir up storms in this world.
Was he to summon servants from fifty years ago to attend him now?
Hearing this, Jiang Changfeng was so frightened that he hurriedly dropped to his knees before Su Yi.
"Master! As long as this old servant draws breath, I will always be your servant!"
"Get up," Su Yi said. "You needn't be so nervous. You've taken great pains all these years, too. As for Xiao Zhao and the others, we'll meet again if fate allows."
Fated ties formed and faded. Su Yi never forced them.
"Then where do you wish to go next, Master? This old servant wishes to continue following at your side." Jiang Changfeng slowly stood up, his eyes filled with hope. He had waited most of his life and finally seen Su Yi return. Naturally, he wanted to continue following him.
Outsiders called Jiang Changfeng an immortal, but Jiang Changfeng knew that the only person in this world who could truly be called an immortal was his master.
"Forget it. You don't have many days left. Live your own life." Su Yi shook his head, then asked, "By the way, in today's world, what should someone my age be doing?"
Jiang Changfeng dared not insist on staying by Su Yi's side, and Su Yi's question was rather odd.
His age?
"At your age, Master, you would probably still be studying out there. Master, are you thinking of...?" Jiang Changfeng had roughly guessed Su Yi's intentions, but he still wanted to confirm them.
How could he presume to fathom his master's thoughts?
"Studying?" Su Yi nodded. "That works!"
Jiang Changfeng asked tentatively, "Then how old are you now?"
Su Yi looked very young, though there was something unusual about his bearing.
One could say he was eighteen, or twenty-three or twenty-four.
"Twenty, then!" Su Yi smiled slightly. "Eighteen is a little too young."
"Then you should still be in university." Jiang Changfeng had grasped Su Yi's meaning. "This old servant will have someone arrange a new identity for you."
Su Yi nodded, then looked toward the entrance.
Jiang Changfeng dared not disturb him and simply stood quietly beside him, just as he had fifty years ago.
Three minutes passed before someone suddenly kicked open the old residence's front gate.
A young man walked in with a cigarette between his lips, followed by a group of subordinates in suits.
Jiang Changfeng was shocked. He looked up at the young man, his eyes brimming with chilling killing intent.
Someone actually dared to kick open the gate of this residence?
And right in front of his master. Whoever this person was, he had to die today!
