An orphan?!
Hearing Su Yi say that, Gao Yun could not help entertaining a few little schemes.
If Su Yi still had living parents, they might oppose the two of them being together because of their age difference.
But Su Yi had neither father nor mother. That was wonderful!
As long as the two of them wanted to be together, no one could stop them.
"Well... I'm so sorry for bringing up something painful!" Gao Yun raised her glass and drained it. "Sister Yun will drink a penalty glass."
Su Yi had never known who his parents were in the first place. Having lived all these years, he had always appeared in the world as an orphan. At Gao Yun's words, he merely smiled. "It's fine. I don't think it's a big deal. When one person eats his fill, the whole family goes without hunger. Isn't that nice?"
"You certainly take it in stride." After putting down her glass, Gao Yun edged closer to Su Yi and asked with concern, "So you're still living alone now, without a girlfriend?"
As the saying went, people grew cunning with age. Su Yi was as old as old could be; never mind such obvious hints from Gao Yun, a single glance was almost enough for him to know what she was thinking.
But Su Yi had his own professional ethics. In a place of pleasure and worldly dust, how could anyone take things seriously? They were all merely playing their parts for the occasion.
"Sister Yun, I'm still young. I don't want to think about major life decisions yet." Su Yi raised his glass, smiling with narrowed eyes. "Let's drink!"
No rejection! But he absolutely could not continue this topic either. Su Yi was only there to sell drinks, and he remembered his job at all times.
How could chatting sell drinks?
The words Gao Yun had spent so long preparing were blocked by a single glass of alcohol. All she could do was raise her glass and drink with Su Yi.
The two drank together. After chatting with her for a while, Su Yi turned from passive to active and began asking about Gao Yun's life. Then he listened as she poured out her grievances, telling him just how difficult it was for a woman to make her way in the world alone.
They drank more and more. After the two of them had drunk over eighty bottles, Gao Yun gradually began to succumb to the alcohol. Her cheeks flushed crimson, and her gaze toward Su Yi grew all the more tender.
"Sister Yun, you've had about enough. Why don't we call it a day?" Su Yi's voice seemed filled with magic. Gao Yun was already forty-three, yet she nodded slightly like a young girl.
"I'll walk you out!" As Su Yi spoke, he was already helping Gao Yun to her feet.
Gao Yun leaned against Su Yi, tilting her head up to look at him, and said softly, "Little Su, how about keeping me company tonight?"
Without a change in expression, Su Yi smiled. "Sister Yun, I'm not that casual. I'll take you to your car and have Little He keep you company."
Had it been any other young man working at the venue, if Gao Yun wanted to sleep with him, she would certainly have thrown money at him until he was satisfied. Almost none of them could withstand that temptation.
Su Yi was completely different, however. Gao Yun had already tried throwing money at him last night. Today, she wanted to play the emotional card. She had not been in a hurry to begin with and naturally wanted to leave a good impression on Su Yi, so she did not insist.
"No need. Just take me to my car." Although Gao Yun was somewhat drunk, she still hoped to present herself to Su Yi as someone who kept herself pure.
After seeing Gao Yun into her car, Su Yi returned to the bar, only to be stopped by a burly man in a suit. "You're Su Yi, right? Our boss wants to see you."
The burly man had been watching Su Yi ever since entering. Su Yi had noticed him too. Bai Miaomiao had arrived and had been in a private room for over an hour, and she had brought ten men with her.
Su Yi paid the burly man no mind, but he followed him anyway, merely wondering to himself whether all women in this era were so fierce.
Ten men. With him, that made eleven.
Could... she really handle that?
If Bai Miaomiao had known what a certain someone was thinking, she would certainly have thrown all caution aside and ordered her men to kill him on the spot.
Su Yi followed the burly man into the private room. Bai Miaomiao was wearing a sharp little suit, her short hair neat and crisp. Several burly men stood inside with stern faces, and the atmosphere was tense.
"Boss Bai, he's here!"
Sitting on the sofa, Bai Miaomiao glanced at Su Yi and said coldly, "Aren't you such a great drinker? Make sure these people from my company enjoy themselves today!"
Su Yi chuckled. "Thank you for your patronage, Boss Bai!"
Bai Miaomiao waved at the burly men. "Drink! His name is Su Yi."
That was all the introduction she gave. Bai Miaomiao was here today to avenge last night!
When she had been drinking with Su Yi last night, she had not thought much of it. But after waking up, the more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Without settling this score, she feared she would not even be able to sleep tonight.
And so, Bai Miaomiao had summoned all ten of the best drinkers in her company.
Unless she got Su Yi completely wasted tonight, she would not feel satisfied!
After speaking, Bai Miaomiao sat off to the side to play on her phone. The burly men sat in a circle, leaving Su Yi to sit across from them.
"Brother Su, our Boss Bai tells us you can drink like an ocean. Since this is our first meeting, we're here to see for ourselves." The man sitting in the very middle chuckled. "I'm Kong Yue. Let's have a little drink first."
As he spoke, Kong Yue had already poured beer, red wine, and foreign liquor together into a pitcher.
"One pitcher each. Whoever finishes last drinks another!" Kong Yue played hard right from the start.
Bai Miaomiao had given them strict orders today: if Su Yi did not get drunk, none of them needed to come back to work.
Since they were drinking, of course they had to play hard!
For an ordinary person, one pitcher like this would basically leave them unconscious, never mind a second.
Su Yi picked up his pitcher and smiled faintly. "Now that's generous!"
The two clinked pitchers and drank at the same time.
Who was Su Yi? Other people at least needed some time to pour the liquor down, didn't they? He took one fierce gulp, and in just one second, the one-liter pitcher was empty.
Before Kong Yue had even drunk half of his, Su Yi had already set down his empty pitcher and was looking at him.
The other nine men's eyes nearly popped out.
Was this fucking magic?
They were all veterans of countless drinking battles. When had they ever seen anyone drink like Su Yi?
That had been mixed liquor just now. It certainly did not taste very good, and it went straight to the head. Never mind drinking it by the pitcher-two ordinary glasses would be more than most people could take.
Five seconds later, Kong Yue finished his pitcher and gave Su Yi a wry smile. All he could do was give Su Yi a thumbs-up, then silently fill his own pitcher again and struggle to drink it.
Su Yi also worked very hard to force himself to look slightly tipsy.
One could not go too far. He still had to give them a little hope.
Bai Miaomiao sat there without a word. The remaining nine men exchanged looks. They were not afraid, though. Even if Su Yi could drink a thousand cups without getting drunk, could the ten of them together really fail to outdrink him alone?
"Brother Su, you can really hold your liquor!" Another fat man with a greasy, shiny face said to Su Yi with a chuckle, "We're only getting started today. How about each of us toasts Brother Su with a pitcher, and then we play dice?"
