When Ji Yaoguang heard the news, she did not dare delay for even a moment and had Wu Moling drive her to the company.
After Lin Fei learned about it, he sneered inwardly and got into the car as well.
By the time the three arrived at the company, Ji Chongwei had already summoned all the shareholders, board members, and senior management to the conference room to handle the matter.
The Ji Group's conference room was extremely spacious, and its conference table was a custom-made extra-long model, yet even that was stretched thin at the moment. Chairs surrounded the table in ring after ring, and quite a few people could only stand farther out. Clearly, the room was packed beyond capacity.
The board, shareholders, and management had always held separate meetings. With all three groups of important company personnel gathered together, this was the result.
Since the Ji Group's founding, this was its first meeting on such a massive scale!
This crowded scene was what greeted Lin Fei when he pushed open the door.
Ji Chongwei sat at the head of the long table. The first seat to his left was empty-it belonged to President Ji Yaoguang. Even though quite a few people could only stand along the edges, that seat remained vacant.
In the first seat to his right sat General Manager Han Enci, his face uneasy, as though he were sitting on pins and needles.
Their seating order alone revealed their status within the Ji Group.
Wu Moling stood by the conference room door of her own accord rather than entering with Lin Fei and Ji Yaoguang.
"President Ji is here!"
Seeing Ji Yaoguang arrive, the people blocking the way voluntarily cleared a path. But the expressions they directed at her were all exceedingly complicated, their thoughts unknown.
When they saw Lin Fei beside Ji Yaoguang, someone immediately said in displeasure, "This is a meeting of senior management. What's a bodyguard doing joining in?"
"Don't you know the rules? Get out!"
Hearing those words, Ji Chongwei slammed the table with a bang and snapped, "Let Mr. Lin in!"
Everyone was utterly astonished, but faced with Ji Chongwei's authority, no one dared say anything.
Ji Yaoguang soon took the first seat on the left, and Liu Cheng immediately reminded him, "Chairman Ji, we can begin."
"There's no rush." Ji Chongwei rose and stepped aside, looking at Lin Fei. "Mr. Lin, please sit."
In an instant, the entire room erupted into an uproar!
"What does Chairman Ji mean by this? He's giving the chairman's seat to a bodyguard?"
"Has he gone mad?"
Amid the clamor, Liu Cheng had to raise his voice so the others could hear him. "Chairman Ji, this meeting concerns the company's very survival! How can you command anyone's respect with such deranged behavior?"
"I don't think either the board or the shareholders will agree to this!"
As Liu Cheng's words fell, the room quieted again, and everyone turned to look at him in unison.
For the first time at a Ji Group meeting, someone had dared openly challenge the chairman's authority!
Clearly, Liu Cheng no longer took Ji Chongwei seriously.
At that moment, he could not help smiling.
Fuck, challenging Ji Chongwei in front of every senior figure in the Ji Group felt so damn good!
"Mr. Han, what do you think?" Liu Cheng immediately looked at Han Enci, hoping that, as the highest-ranking person outside the Ji Family, he would voice his support.
Although Han Enci had refused to give Song Hao face last night, Liu Cheng believed Han Enci was no dumbass. He would surely see the situation clearly and choose to throw his lot in with the Song Family.
Yet Han Enci gave him a strange look and coughed. "I think Chairman Ji naturally has his reasons for this decision. Let's wait and see."
The entire room was dumbfounded.
Liu Cheng's eyes widened even further, his face practically screaming, What the fuck?
Little bro, what the fuck is wrong with you?
Lin Fei could not help laughing. He could not be bothered to listen to their wagging tongues and merely asked Ji Chongwei, "You want me to handle this?"
Ji Chongwei nodded, his tone respectful. "Sorry for the trouble, Mr. Lin."
Amid the indignant protests filling the room, Ji Chongwei slammed the table and thundered, "Today, Mr. Lin's decisions are my decisions! Anyone who refuses to accept that can get the hell out right now!"
In an instant, the room fell utterly silent, everyone looking angry but not daring to speak.
Han Enci's stance was something the vast majority had not anticipated. Without the support of him and that group of shareholders, they were no longer quite so confident.
Lin Fei pulled out the chair and leaned back in it, casual and languid. "I don't like trouble, so let's make this quick."
At those words, quite a few people's hearts gave a sudden lurch, an ominous feeling rising within them.
"I don't need to spell out the situation. I imagine everyone here falls into just two camps. One wants the Ji Family to bow to the Song Family. Even if your President Ji has to marry that good-for-nothing Song Hao, even if the Ji Group becomes a puppet, none of that matters as long as you can keep making money, right?"
Lin Fei propped one hand against the side of his face, his posture casual and relaxed.
No one answered.
But no answer was needed.
Lin Fei smiled faintly and continued, "The other camp, naturally, intends to advance and retreat with the Ji Family. Some remember the Ji Family's kindness in recognizing their talents, and some trust the Ji Family... but none of that matters."
"Now, anyone who doesn't intend to force the Ji Family to bow can leave the conference room."
He swept his gaze over the room and smiled. "There are too many people. It's pretty cramped."
No one had expected Lin Fei to be so direct right from the outset, separating the Jing River from the Wei River and drawing a clear line between them!
A few people seemed tempted, but when they saw how many others remained coldly seated, they began to hesitate again.
Seeing this, Ji Chongwei softened his tone. "Whether you're willing to trust our Ji Family or simply feel it's wrong to pressure us, please do as Mr. Lin says and leave the conference room."
He drew a deep breath and said solemnly, "The Ji Family won't let any of you lose out. Please rest assured."
After Ji Chongwei finished speaking, a small number of people left the conference room one after another.
Seeing things taking a bad turn, Liu Cheng immediately sneered, "Chairman Ji, the Ji Group is facing a crisis of life and death. I'm curious-just how are you going to keep everyone from losing out?"
Ji Chongwei's brows drew tightly together. He was about to erupt when Lin Fei stopped him with a wave. "Let him jump around."
Liu Cheng was furious. Did this Lin Fei even know how to speak? What did he mean, "jump around"?
But Lin Fei could not be bothered with him at all. Instead, he casually looked toward Han Enci, who was sitting on pins and needles.
Han Enci had already been caught in a fierce inner struggle. One look from Lin Fei instantly sent him into a panic.
Under everyone's shocked gazes, Han Enci stood up.
"Mr. Han! Have you lost your mind?" In his agitation, Liu Cheng blurted out the question.
Han Enci cursed inwardly. You bastard, you're the one who's lost his mind! Do I have a choice?
Despite those thoughts, his face looked utterly righteous. "The Ji and Han families share honor and disgrace. Even if I'm worried about the Ji Group's future, I could never do something like force the Ji Family into submission!"
Seeing Han Enci's righteous demeanor and words, Liu Cheng was completely dumbstruck.
Where was the sinister, crafty Han Enci of old, who would never lift a finger without something to gain?
Fuck, had this guy taken the wrong medicine or suffered some shock? Why had he changed so much lately?
