Nan City.
Lights blazed everywhere.
In the living room of a luxurious high-rise apartment, Su Cheng's hands trembled. Not just her hands-her whole body shook, because the nail clippers she had just hurled had frozen in midair, hovering in front of the strange man who had suddenly appeared in her home!
Su Cheng was no ordinary person. She had practiced China's Ancient Martial Arts under her master since childhood. With her skills, even a dozen burly men could forget about getting close to her!
But just now!
But just now, the moment she saw the man on her living room sofa, she had sensed a terrifying threat. The instant she turned, grabbed the nail clippers from the coffee table, and threw them, the man had made no move. He had merely raised his head and glanced at her, and then things had turned into this!
An invisible force had pinned the nail clippers in midair!
Bizarre!
Indescribably bizarre!
Su Cheng could hear her own racing heartbeat!
This man was powerful, so unfathomably powerful that it drove her to despair!
"That white shirt looks quite nice on you."
The man spoke, raising his head and giving Su Cheng a faint smile.
"..." Su Cheng froze for a moment, then lowered her head to glance at her oversized white shirt. Her pretty face darkened as she stared at the man on the sofa. "Who... exactly are you... why are you in my home... what do you want..."
"I got into a bit of a fight with someone and accidentally restarted the epoch, returning to this era. I landed in your home by chance. That's how it happened." A faint smile lingered on the man's face.
"You!"
Su Cheng glared at the man, involuntarily taking a step back.
This man's origins were far too bizarre, and his words were bizarre too. Fighting someone, restarting the epoch, returning to this era-it all sounded like something straight out of the Arabian Nights!
"Please rest assured, Miss Su Cheng. I'm absolutely a good person. I certainly won't try anything with you."
The man chuckled, watching Su Cheng with a hint of something sinister in his expression.
"Who exactly are you!"
Su Cheng forced herself to calm down, drawing a deep breath as she stared at the man.
"Some like to call me the Supreme Exalted, while others call me Ancestor Chen. You can just use my name, Miss Su Cheng. My name is Chen Zheng."
The man smiled as he spoke.
"Chen Zheng... are you from ancient times? Are you a transmigrator?"
Su Cheng thought for a moment before asking.
"Ancient times? That was an unforgettable past." Chen Zheng shook his head gently, rose from the sofa, and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing at the city's nightscape outside. "I haven't seen a modern city at night like this in many years. As for what happened to me, even three days and nights wouldn't be enough to tell it from the beginning, so you can take a look for yourself, Miss Su Cheng."
As he spoke, Chen Zheng suddenly turned and smiled at Su Cheng. Then he raised his right hand, and a mysterious light flashed, shooting straight into the space between her brows.
"Huh?"
Su Cheng froze, standing rooted to the spot as though she had lost her soul. The shock on her beautiful face grew deeper and deeper. A moment later, her little mouth fell open as she stared at Chen Zheng in disbelief!
"You! Impossible! Those were all illusions, right? How could this be possible! It's completely impossible..."
Su Cheng was stunned!
Because incredibly bizarre images had appeared in her mind-things that could not possibly exist, or at least things that had never appeared on Earth!
She saw a barren land that looked like prehistoric Earth. On that barren land, where no life should have existed, a human was actually walking, and that human was the man before her!
She also saw Chen Zheng jump into churning lava, then walk back out of it completely unharmed!
She saw herds of dinosaurs and watched Chen Zheng ride a Tyrannosaurus rex as it charged across the land!
She saw an enormous floating stone city, suspended in the air in a thoroughly unscientific fashion, with massive ancient ships turning into streaks of light as they flew in and out of it!
She saw a savage wilderness, where giant beasts appeared one after another, throwing back their heads and roaring furiously at the heavens!
She also saw a palace, a palace suspended in the void. In front of it, a legendary dragon was locked in a fierce battle with an enormous golden three-legged bird!
This...
Prehistory?
The Jurassic?
Another world?
Legends?
Myths?
How could this be possible!
Su Cheng dropped to the floor, staring at Chen Zheng in utter shock. "You... how is this possible... h-how long have you been alive!"
"How long have I been alive... that's actually a difficult question to answer. Let me think... if we count the years I've experienced, it should be a few billion years."
Chen Zheng thought briefly, then answered with a smile.
"A few billion years..."
At that, Su Cheng froze completely, utterly dumbfounded!
A few billion years!
Earth itself had only existed for a few billion years, yet this man said he had lived for a few billion years too. Was that really possible?
Su Cheng was completely dazed. She had no idea what to say. If everything this man had just shown her had really happened, then he truly might have lived for a few billion years!
But!
But wasn't that far too outrageous!
"I relied on willpower to make it through those most unbearable years. Even I couldn't believe I endured them, but it was also those years that gave me an undying, indestructible body and soul. Even though restarting the epoch and returning to this point in time weakened the vast majority of my cultivation, my body and soul remained immortal." Chen Zheng smiled faintly and turned his back to Su Cheng, looking at the nightscape beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows. "Let me think about when I left Earth. Counting it up, it was around the end of King Zhou of Shang's reign. You know Jiang Ziya and Demon Consort Daji, don't you? Back then, Demon Consort Daji cried and pleaded to leave with me, and Jiang Ziya wanted to follow me too. But I was used to being alone back then, so I didn't take Daji or Jiang Ziya with me. As for what happened afterward, none of it took place on Earth."
"Demon Consort Daji... Jiang Ziya... you... are you a transmigrator, or what exactly is going on? Also, did anything happen between you and Demon Consort Daji?"
Su Cheng was utterly bewildered as she stared blankly at the man's back and asked.
As for why she had asked that last question, even she didn't know!
