Ye Lingling had already skipped grades and entered fourth-year Class One at Heaven Dou Royal Junior Academy before meeting Yu Tianming. She was slightly younger than most of Yu Tianheng’s circle. When other students mocked the newly admitted Tianming, she quietly supported the brothers alongside Dugu Yan and their friends 14 15.

During the group’s first combat drill, she fought on Yu Tianheng’s side as its healer. Yu Tianming identified her healing as a reason to avoid a prolonged battle. After breaking Shi Mo’s defensive shield, he reached Lingling and eliminated her with a lance wing resting against her shoulder 17 18.

She later accepted whale rubber from Tianming and promised to keep its value and limited supply secret. Despite initial embarrassment over its reputation, she absorbed it with Dugu Yan in their dormitory. Tianming’s delivery of cooling Ice Spirit spring water helped them complete the process and deepened her affection for him 23 24.

Second Soul Ring Hunt

After reaching rank twenty, Lingling gave Tianming an embroidered sachet to congratulate him on his own breakthrough. She initially hesitated to join his Soul Ring hunt because she did not want to inconvenience his grandfather, Yu Yuanzhen, but accepted after encouragement from Tianming and Dugu Yan 30.

Yu Yuanzhen welcomed her warmly and gave her a Thunder Spirit Jade pendant before taking the pair to the Star Dou Great Forest. Lingling initially proposed a fifteen-hundred-year second ring; Tianming and Yu Yuanzhen persuaded her that her strengthened body could withstand two thousand years. Yu Yuanzhen subdued a suitable Spirit Charm Seven-Colored Deer, allowing her to deliver the final blow and absorb its ring 31.

Immediately afterward, the Titan Giant Ape attacked. Tianming carried Lingling away while Yu Yuanzhen held it back. After their escape, she completely healed the injuries Tianming sustained from overloading his flight capabilities. A mutant twenty-thousand-year Tyrant Dragon then ambushed them, forcing another retreat before Yu Yuanzhen reunited with them. She remained nearby while Tianming obtained his second ring, and all three returned safely to the academy 32 33 34 35.

Advanced Academy and Clan Visit

Once all eight companions became Soul Grandmasters, they advanced together into a special class at Heaven Dou Royal Academy’s advanced division. Tie Zhan remained their instructor, and the academy granted them its highest training resources. Lingling subsequently joined the seven-person lineup that defeated Zhou Yin’s students, publicly displaying her yellow-and-purple ring configuration 37 38.

On the journey to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, black-clad attackers ambushed their carriages. Lingling stayed inside as Tianming instructed and restrained Dugu Yan from distracting him. At the clan, its wealth and power made her question whether her family background made her an unsuitable match for him. Tianming reassured her that neither he nor his family cared about that distinction 40 42.

Her relationship with Tianming became more openly affectionate during the visit, while her friendship with Dugu Yan remained intact. Dugu Bo later acknowledged the three’s relationship, and Tianming promised to care for both girls. Lingling also witnessed the elders’ Soul Core formation and met Salas during his visit to the clan 43 44 45 47 49.

Personality

Lingling is cool and reserved in public but gentle toward those close to her. Her quiet support for Tianming during his first classroom confrontation contrasts with Dugu Yan’s outspoken defense. She is easily embarrassed by romantic teasing and uncomfortable with conspicuous public affection 14 30 43 44.

She is considerate about imposing on others. Before the Soul Ring hunt, she repeatedly worries about troubling Yu Yuanzhen or making a poor impression. Her later insecurity about the gap between her family and Tianming’s clan shows that social standing matters to her sense of whether she belongs beside him 30 31 42.

Despite being frightened by powerful Soul Beasts, she continues to act as a healer. She treats Tianming immediately after their escape from the Titan Giant Ape and summons Nine Heart Begonia while suppressing her panic during the Tyrant Dragon encounter. During the carriage ambush, she prioritizes keeping Tianming free from distraction 32 33 40.

Nine Heart Begonia is a healing Martial Soul whose sole Soul Skill is area-of-effect group healing, regardless of how many rings its wielder acquires 31.
