Background / History

Childhood and wandering

Bai Qi associated his childhood with a series of fatal disasters: his mother died when he was one, his family when he was two, and everyone in his village during his Martial Soul Awakening at six. He believed that he had caused these deaths and accepted the name “Heavenly Fiend Lone Star.” He subsequently spent five years wandering and suffering abuse 15.

By the time he appeared in Lingdou City, he was missing an arm and carried extensive untreated injuries. His attempts to cultivate without guidance had left residual Soul Power blocking his meridians. Huo Tian later discovered poisoned organs, numerous hidden injuries, and a crack in his heart 15 16 17.

Rescue and discipleship

Two Soul Grandmasters cornered Bai Qi near Lingdou City’s crowded square and demanded his gold soul coin. Although he fought back with Sickle Moon Slash, they easily overpowered him. Huo Tian intervened just before the killing blow, beheading both attackers with blades of fire 15 16.

Huo Tian’s system tasked him with accepting Bai Qi as his second disciple and ultimately forging him into an “ultimate weapon.” Bai Qi initially refused out of fear that his curse would kill anyone close to him. He accepted after Huo Tian promised to help him shatter fate’s curse, pledging his life to his new master 16.

At an inn, Huo Tian administered three pills to repair Bai Qi’s body, cleanse his meridians, and evolve his Martial Soul. Bai Qi endured the treatment overnight with Huo Tian supplying Soul Power to stabilize him. The following morning, his sickle had become the Starry Night Demon Scythe 17.

Huo Tian then removed Bai Qi’s facial scar with whitening cream. Afterward, Bai Qi cut his long hair short to mark his farewell to his former life 18.

Azure Cloud Sect and Shrek Academy

Bai Qi accompanied Huo Tian and Huo Yutong to the Star Dou Great Forest, where they met Bei Bei and Tang Ya. He became part of the Azure Cloud Sect’s founding group when Huo Tian took over and renamed the Tang Sect 18 19.

While Huo Tian helped Huo Yutong obtain her first soul ring, Bai Qi remained with Bei Bei and Tang Ya. Entrusted with a Class 7 soul laser cannon for protection, he used it to kill several ten-thousand-year soul beasts. The experience sparked his enthusiasm for Soul Tools 20 21 22.

After returning to Shrek, Bai Qi enrolled in Freshman Class One, with Huo Tian as his homeroom teacher. Huo Tian commissioned a prosthetic arm and training armor from Fan Yu, then encouraged Fan Yu to accept Bai Qi as a disciple. Their teaching responsibilities were divided: Huo Tian would teach Martial Souls, while Fan Yu would teach Soul Tools. He Caitou was assigned to introduce Bai Qi to the department 23 24 25 26.

Appearance

Bai Qi’s appearance changes substantially after Huo Tian treats his injuries and rebuilds his physical foundation 17 18.

Personality

Years of rejection leave Bai Qi deeply self-conscious and afraid of harming others. When first rescued, he hides his scar behind his hair so that he will not frighten Huo Tian or Huo Yutong. He initially considers himself unworthy of becoming a disciple because he believes everyone near him will die 16.

His strongest qualities are endurance and determination. He survives injuries that Huo Tian believes would have killed an ordinary person and withstands the repeated destruction and reconstruction of his Martial Soul without making a sound. Once offered a path forward, he accepts increasingly severe training as the price of strength 16 17 18.

Bai Qi is straightforward and dislikes excessive thinking, which contributes to his enthusiasm for easy-to-use Soul Tools. Although he becomes outwardly cheerful, his emotional wounds persist. Traveling with Huo Tian’s group gradually challenges his belief that others will inevitably despise or mistreat him 22.
