Two girls shared their body heat for warmth
A companion's body heat for warmth!
Although it sounded a little melodramatic, it was still an effective method!
If he did it himself, they would definitely suspect him of harboring ulterior motives!
No problem. Weren't there three girls right here?
Saving her came first!
"I need you to hold her now and use your body heat to warm Guo'er!"
Ning Shu thought for a moment. "Mm, that could work. I'll go first!"
Lin Qianqian blushed as she said, "Class monitor, please let me go first. If it can save Guo'er, I don't mind holding her."
Ning Shu frowned. "You just want to do that, don't you!"
Lu Zhe added, "Ideally, two people should do it, one in front and one behind. That will preserve as much of her body heat as possible!"
"Then there's no need to argue. Qianqian, you take the front, and I'll take the back!"
Lin Qianqian blushed. "I'm really looking forward to helping Guo'er together with our class monitor!"
Ning Shu frowned. "Qianqian, I think there's something off about you!"
"Not at all!"
Lin Qianqian and Ning Shu held Tang Xiaoguo tightly between them, one in front and one behind. The two girls used their body heat to warm their companion!
Sure enough, Tang Xiaoguo's condition seemed to improve a little.
Jiang Yao asked, "Then what should I do?"
As Lu Zhe changed the water and sand, he said, "Keep resting, Yaoyao. I'll call you if I need you!"
Jiang Yao thought for a moment, then sat beside Lu Zhe. "Maybe I slept too much during the day. I can't really sleep now! Let me help!"
Without waiting for Lu Zhe to respond, she started helping!
With her help, Lu Zhe heated the stones and filled the bottles significantly faster!
Before long, they had replaced another round of hot-water bottles!
Lu Zhe handed the last two bottles of hot sand to Jiang Yao. "Thanks for your hard work. Get some rest!"
"Hey, Xiao Zhe, it's not like you're a stranger! No need to be so polite!"
As she spoke, she placed the two water bottles by Tang Xiaoguo's feet, then sat down beside Lu Zhe. "Seriously, Xiao Zhe, you feel pretty warm. Mind if I lean against you for a while?"
Lu Zhe knew that the system had enhanced his physique. Even on a cold night, his body gave off an endless stream of heat!
So there was no need to mind Jiang Yao "mooching warmth" off him!
"We're the best partners, aren't we? Of course I don't mind! Come here!"
Lu Zhe generously patted his shoulder.
Jiang Yao smiled sweetly, linked her arm through Lu Zhe's, and gently rested her head on his shoulder!
They looked just like a young couple!
Facing the fire, neither of them spoke.
But after a while, Lu Zhe discovered that Jiang Yao had started sobbing at some point!
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"Nothing!"
Jiang Yao gave a soft sniff and wiped her tears with the back of her hand. "It's just really moving, seeing everyone working together to save Guo'er! I thought... while I was asleep, everyone must have been doing everything they could to save me too!"
Lu Zhe knew that although Jiang Yao and Guo'er often bickered, they actually cared a great deal about each other!
"We really were! When we found you, you'd been baking under the sun for who knows how long. Your skin was hot enough to burn our hands! Another ten minutes, and you probably would've been cooked!"
"You're awful!"
Jiang Yao gave him a light pinch, then continued, "And Guo'er, too. When a girl encounters a snake, her first instinct is to run, right? But to protect me, she chose to kick it away..."
She looked at Tang Xiaoguo, her eyes full of gratitude!
"Guo'er can be a real handful and so willful sometimes... but she's honestly a really, really good girl!"
This was the first time Lu Zhe had seen Jiang Yao being so sentimental too.
But that was normal. Faced with a tremendous disaster, people's mindsets were bound to undergo some changes!
"Lu Zhe, do you think... all the other passengers will die?"
Lu Zhe sighed!
To be honest, he hadn't seriously considered that question since waking up!
Not because he couldn't be bothered, but because he didn't dare!
He was afraid the conclusion he reached would bring such overwhelming pain that it would destroy his will to live!
And now Jiang Yao had asked!
Lu Zhe could only shake his head. "Actually... I don't know either!"
"But there were so many passengers on the plane. Why did only the few of us survive..."
"Yeah. Come to think of it, it's only the few people from our class..."
At that, Lu Zhe suddenly realized something!
He pondered aloud, "It's strange. Normally, we should have encountered other passengers, some alive and some dead!"
Jiang Yao nodded. "Could it be... just because we were in first class?"
What had sounded like a ridiculous remark sparked a thought in Lu Zhe. He turned to look at Jiang Yao. "You know what? That really could be it!"
The university-organized summer camp had been running for seven years.
Sixteen universities in the region had friendly ties and held an international academic summer camp every graduation season.
Each university sent several dozen student representatives to take part in various academic and physical competitions.
At Magic City Jiaotong University, each graduating class sent five student representatives with good grades and poise.
This time, however, a flight issue had left them five seats short. The fifty students from the other classes had all taken the same flight to Kangaroo Continent on June 9, while the five students from the finance class could only take a flight on June 10.
At the time, the pretty young flight attendant had said, "To make up for the airline's mistake, we've upgraded all five of you for free!"
The students had thought they would reach their destination at their leisure, sitting in leather recliners and sipping coffee.
But they had never expected a huge hole to rip open in that very cabin halfway through the journey...
Lu Zhe nodded. "In that case, it's possible only the few of us were thrown out of the plane! The others might not have been!"
"That's possible!" Jiang Yao thought for a moment, then asked, "Then if only first class had a hole in it, would the others stay on the plane all the way to the destination?"
Lu Zhe pondered for a moment, then shook his head. "Leaving aside whether the plane could regain its original altitude, even if it could, the negative pressure and impact would very likely tear the damaged plane apart!"
"Then did they have no chance of surviving?"
Lu Zhe thought some more. "Not necessarily! If the plane made an emergency landing at sea, because its overall materials are relatively light, seawater wouldn't initially pour through that hole diagonally above. If rescuers arrived then, everyone on the plane would be saved!"
Jiang Yao sighed. "Would you say we were lucky or unlucky?"
Lu Zhe smiled. "Lucky, I suppose..."
Yes, although that final possibility had some chance of happening, the odds were vanishingly small!
It was also possible that everyone aboard the plane had perished at sea!
Lu Zhe's words gave Jiang Yao a little comfort, and a faint smile appeared on her face!
Leaning against Lu Zhe, she shifted into a slightly more comfortable position and gradually fell asleep!
Afraid she would get cold, Lu Zhe held her a little closer!
In the moonlight, Jiang Yao's face looked fair and pretty, making Lu Zhe's heart stir a little!
