Replenishing fresh water, taking stock of supplies

Ning Shu ran over to rinse it in the seawater, then wrung it out. After wiping Jiang Yao's body, she folded it into a small square and placed it on Jiang Yao's forehead.

Tang Xiaoguo picked up a leaf to fan her, while Lin Qianqian rubbed her palms and the soles of her feet.

With that, Jiang Yao's temperature really did drop a little!

Just then, Jiang Yao's cracked lips moved slightly!?

"Yaoyao's lips moved! Did you see that?"

"Yes! Yaoyao, can you hear us?"

"Jiang Yao! Yaoyao!!"

A single word slipped faintly from her throat. "Water..."

Lu Zhe checked her body fluid level. It had already fallen below the critical threshold!

He said worriedly, "Just lowering her temperature won't do! She still needs fresh water. She was exposed to the sun for too long, and her body is severely dehydrated. If we want her to survive, we have to get fluids into her immediately!"

"Water..." Lin Qianqian said sadly. "But we walked so far and couldn't find any water at all..."

Ning Shu said in frustration, "What do we do? Guo'er and I drank all the water. If I'd known this would happen, I would've saved some no matter what!"

Lu Zhe sighed. "There's no use saying that now. We have to think of another way!"

Despite saying that, Lu Zhe was out of ideas too!

Fresh water was a scarce resource on this island. With their current stamina, quickly finding enough fresh water to replenish Jiang Yao's body fluid level would probably be harder than ascending to heaven.

Checking the Survival Manual again, Lu Zhe spotted a dreadful method.

He was rather speechless!

But the situation was urgent, and there was no other way. He looked at Ning Shu and Guo'er.

His gaze made Ning Shu a little nervous. "Lu Zhe, what are you doing?"

"You two have plenty of stamina. Go get some water!"

"Where?"

Lu Zhe picked out a Mizone bottle from among them and handed it to Guo'er.

Ning Shu blinked. "We..."

"Right now, her life matters more than anything, so we have to get fresh water!"

"Oh..."

A few minutes later, after who knew what sort of exchange, the two girls really did bring back fresh water, although its color was a little unusual.

After they poured a third of it into her, Jiang Yao showed signs of rejecting it, and a little began spilling back out!

At that point, her body temperature rate finally recovered to above the critical threshold. Lu Zhe detected that her temperature was dropping, but all her other physical indicators were slowly beginning to rise.

"That should be enough. Let her rest for a while!"

Ning Shu laid her flat!

After replenishing her "fresh water" and resting in the shade for a while, Jiang Yao's physical indicators recovered considerably. All that remained was to wait for her to wake up!

Lu Zhe felt they couldn't just sit around. They had to find something to do!

He thought for a moment, then said, "I'd like to take stock of our supplies with everyone and see what useful tools and reserves we have on hand, so we can survive better on this island while waiting for rescue."

This time, everyone cooperated. Ning Shu tipped the contents of her bag out again. "You've already seen all this: a novel, hand cream, hair ties, tissues, a water bottle, a pencil case, a diary, a spoon, keys, and a pack of Whisper pads that you don't need to know the purpose of... For food, there's a tub of Orion chewing gum and a few packets of spicy strips.

"Besides that, I also have a phone with a dead battery!"

Lu Zhe opened the pencil case. Inside were three rollerball pens, a mechanical pencil, two boxes of pencil leads, an eraser, and a plastic ruler.

Only three pages of the notebook had been used. The rest were blank, and it was quite thick!

"The pens and diary can be used to record important locations, types of plants and animals, tide times, and other information! We can make messages in bottles, and use it to draw coordinates and maps too."

The girls nodded.

Lu Zhe picked up the spicy strips.

"Spicy strips are soy products and can provide a little protein, but because they're so salty and spicy, eating them will make you even thirstier. So whatever you do, don't eat them right now!"

All three nodded, and Ning Shu asked, "What about the chewing gum?"

"That's good too, though it would be better if it were made with real sugar. That's more useful than xylitol right now!"
