Background / History

Ning Rongrong is Ning Fengzhi’s daughter and Ning Yuhao’s older paternal half-sister. Her mother was Ning Fengzhi’s lawful wife and also helped raise Yuhao before her death. Rongrong grew up within the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, receiving valuable cultivation resources and consuming heavenly treasures from childhood 1 4 8.

She held the position of young sect master before Yuhao’s unusual Martial Soul earned him appointment as the sect’s second young sect master. Ning Fengzhi granted him access to the same resources she received, placing both children among the sect’s hopes for its future 3 5 18.

Appearance

• Wears green brocade in her first appearance and is subsequently described in long green or pale-green dresses 1 3 19.
• Has a lovely face; her pale-green dress is specifically described as complementing her appearance when she leaves for Shrek Academy 19.

Personality

Rongrong is outspoken, playful, and quick to challenge others. She immediately talks back when Dai Mubai confronts their table, and her startling suggestion that Yuhao have many children reflects the mischievous temperament behind her “Little Demoness” nickname. Her playfulness also affects her cultivation: Ning Fengzhi scolds her lack of diligence, and Yuhao later reminds her that her peers have overtaken her 4 5 22.

Her teasing coexists with strong concern for her family and friends. She waits at the sect gates when Yuhao returns late, rebukes him for failing to write during his northern journey, and intervenes when his teasing upsets Zhu Zhuqing. Despite her casual attitude toward training, she recognizes the importance of Yuhao’s summoning ability to the sect and takes him to report it to their father 3 4 6 17.

She can also be possessive of Yuhao’s attention. She objects to Zhu Zhuqing adopting her familiar address for him, insists on reading Zhuqing’s letter to him, and pulls Zhuqing away after the two embrace 7 19 26.

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda

Rongrong possesses the sect’s traditional support-type Tool Martial Soul, unlike Yuhao’s mutated summoning-type pagoda 1 23.

• Manifestation: Appears as a seven-colored pagoda a little over a foot tall, summoned into her right palm 24.
• First: Strength: Her first Soul Ring comes from a Great Strength Elephant selected for its compatibility with this strength-support skill 8.
• Team support: During the Shrek entrance trial, Yuhao assigns her to strengthen his summoned beast first, while the other students protect her rear position 23 24.
• Direct-combat limitation: Her pagoda cannot attack directly. Heavy impacts can damage or shake it, and sufficiently fierce attacks force her to withdraw it 1.
• Cultivation ceiling: The ordinary Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda is limited to seven Soul Rings and rank 79 1 18.

Physical Foundation

Childhood consumption of heavenly treasures gave Rongrong a constitution far stronger than that of ordinary people 8.

• Absorbed her four-hundred-year first Soul Ring smoothly despite its age being at her limit 8.
• Obtained a thousand-year second Soul Ring; Ning Fengzhi identifies her and Yuhao as the only sect members in hundreds of years to repeat that achievement 18.

• Ning Fengzhi — Father and sect master. He treats her affectionately but criticizes her lax cultivation, while promising the sect’s support for her future growth 4 5 18.
• Ning Yuhao — Younger paternal half-brother and fellow young sect master. They share frequent teasing and physical affection; she is protective of him and resents being excluded from important discoveries about his Martial Souls 1 4 17 26.
• Zhu Zhuqing — Close friend who calls her “Sister Rongrong.” Rongrong comforts her during their first Soul Hunt, later visits her in Star Luo, and reunites with her at Shrek 6 7 19 20.
• Dai Mubai — Friend first encountered during her Soul Hunt. Their initial argument gives way to continued acquaintance, though she readily calls out his suspicious welcome-feast arrangements 5 20 21.
• Gu Rong / Bone Douluo — Cherished elder whom she calls “Grandpa Gu.” His attachment to Rongrong and Yuhao is strong enough that they expect him to oppose their departure for Shrek 1 19.
• Xiao Wu — Fellow Shrek applicant. Their early exchange becomes competitive when Xiao Wu learns that Rongrong’s cultivation is lower than hers 22.

Discovery of Yuhao’s Summoning Martial Soul

Rongrong provides an early comparison between the ordinary Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda and Yuhao’s mutation. After witnessing his summoning ability, she immediately understands that his combat role depends on the Soul Beasts supplying his rings. Experiencing Spiritual Detection Sharing convinces her that he could create a new path for the sect, prompting her to bring him to Ning Fengzhi 1 3 4.

First Soul Hunt

Her expedition to Weikesiluoke Plain brings the siblings into contact with Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing. Rongrong obtains her first ring from a Great Strength Elephant and accompanies the group while Yuhao helps the other two select beasts that sever their Martial Soul resonance 5 6 8.

Reunion and Shrek Admission

After Yuhao’s northern expedition, Rongrong welcomes him home but reprimands his prolonged silence. She later accompanies him on a visit to Zhu Zhuqing in the Star Luo Empire and, two years afterward, leaves with him for Shrek Academy 17 19.

During Zhao Wuji’s entrance trial, she recommends centering their tactics on Yuhao, the group’s only Soul Elder. She takes the protected support position and passes alongside the other applicants. The revelation of Yuhao’s additional Martial Soul then prompts her to confront him for keeping it secret 23 24 26.
