Background / History

Tang San is a transmigrator and a former Tang Sect disciple. His knowledge of Tang Sect techniques and Hidden Weapons gives him combat methods uncommon among ordinary Soul Masters. 139 262

He is the son of Tang Hao and Ah Yin. Tang Xiao later reveals that Ah Yin was a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Soul Beast who sacrificed herself to save Tang Hao, an event tied to the Clear Sky Sect's withdrawal from the outside world. 138

Tang San initially believed his first Martial Soul to be ordinary Blue Silver Grass. After revealing his Clear Sky Hammer, Mu Chen tells him that his apparent first Martial Soul may not truly be what he believes, leaving Tang San uncertain about his own inheritance. 111

Personality

Tang San is calculating and battle-focused, using Blue Silver Grass to direct allies, read the flow of combat, and create openings for his techniques and Hidden Weapons. His adult mentality and determination to pursue stronger opponents are noted early in his time at Shrek Academy. 68 75

He is fiercely protective of those close to him, particularly Xiao Wu and Yu Xiaogang. Xiao Wu's injury drives him into a furious assault on Mu Chen, while his refusal to kill Yu Xiaogang in the Hell Slaughter Arena shows the depth of his loyalty to his teacher. 75 261

His persistence can become self-destructive. He refuses to surrender even after Mu Chen dismantles his team and severs his Eight Spider Lances, later vowing to grow stronger after the defeat. 233 245

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Twin Martial Souls, a rare talent that grants him Innate Full Soul Power. 111

  • Blue Silver Grass — His primary control-system Martial Soul, used to restrain enemies, coordinate allies, and establish traps. 74 75
  • Clear Sky Hammer — A powerful tool Martial Soul that he uses for direct suppression and heavy strikes. 123
  • His two Martial Souls have a cultivation compatibility issue that remains unresolved within the documented events. 124 224

Blue Silver Grass Control

Tang San uses his Blue Silver Grass as both a battlefield-control tool and a means of supporting allied movement.

  • Uses it to pull allies out of danger and coordinate attacks. 75
  • Parasitism causes planted seeds to grow into binding Blue Silver Grass. 75
  • His Blue Silver Grass gained toughness and Datura Snake venom after absorbing soul rings from the Datura Snake and Ghost Vine. 75
  • The technique can be destroyed by sufficiently powerful Sword Qi or Sword Momentum before it fully restrains its target. 75

Tang Sect Techniques

Tang San retains techniques from his former Tang Sect life, allowing him to fight beyond what his Soul Power alone would suggest.

  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — An irregular movement technique used to evade attacks and close distance. 75
  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — Used to alter an opponent's force and disrupt their rhythm in close combat. 75
  • Purple Demon Eye — Enhances his perception and lets him track fast-moving targets. 76
  • Mysterious Heaven Skill — Supports his endurance during severe injury. 233
  • Bat Wing Reincarnation — A desperate movement technique used during his tournament battle against Mu Chen. 234

Hidden Weapons

Tang San forges and deploys concealed weapons with varied effects, allowing him to threaten opponents stronger than himself.

  • Uses willow leaf knives, coin darts, Bone-Piercing Needles, crossbow bolts, and poisoned steel needles. 76
  • His Dragon Whisker Needles were deflected by Mu Chen and severely injured Tang San himself. 76
  • Defeated the Level 54 Soul King Tang Hu through Hidden Weapons, Tang Sect techniques, and his External Soul Bone. 142
  • Presented the Mother-Child Life-Chasing Soul-Attracting Balls, which were capable of piercing Seventh Elder's Titled Douluo defense. 143 144
  • Planned to use Hidden Weapons and the Strength Clan's support to establish the Tang Sect. 157

Eight Spider Lances

Tang San possesses the Eight Spider Lances, an External Soul Bone carrying potent venom.

  • Uses the Lances' poison to pressure opponents and defeat enemies individually. 124
  • Their fragments were coated in deadly poison for his final attack against Mu Chen. 234
  • Mu Chen deliberately severed all eight Lances during the Soul Master Tournament. 233 245
  • Tang Hao states that the External Soul Bone can regrow. 245

Darkened Martial Souls

After Yu Xiaogang's suicide and a grief-driven massacre in the City of Slaughter, Tang San's Martial Souls become corrupted.

  • The Clear Sky Hammer gains black mist, blood-red patterns, and a bloodthirsty aura. 261
  • His Blue Silver Grass turns pitch-black, develops blade-like thorns, and absorbs blood staining it. 261
  • This transformation marks him as an Evil Soul Master. 261
