Technology for creating virtual spaces?
With that reminder from Jiang Xia, Gu Yue grew wary again.
"Why do you suddenly want to learn this technology?"
Faced with Gu Yue's questioning, Jiang Xia explained with a wry smile.
"I need virtual spaces to cultivate my Broken Dream."
Gu Yue sounded somewhat skeptical. "What does cultivating Broken Dream have to do with virtual spaces?"
Jiang Xia said, "Please watch the VCR."
He took out his soul communicator and pulled up some information on it.
Gu Yue leaned over to look at the contents on the soul communicator. They were internal Spirit Pagoda reports.
The report Jiang Xia finally scrolled to concerned an incident of damage to the Eastsea Spirit Pagoda's Spirit Ascension Platform six months earlier.
The report plainly stated that a portion of the Spirit Pagoda's Spirit Ascension Platform space was missing.
"You swallowed that portion of space back then?" Gu Yue seemed to have some idea of what Jiang Xia meant.
Jiang Xia nodded. "So don't report me."
Gu Yue rolled her eyes.
"It's already been six months. What would be the point of reporting you now?"
"Anyway, why did you devour those virtual spaces?"
Jiang Xia said, "To improve my control over dreams."
He told her the truth, though he did not explain the underlying principles.
Gu Yue did not probe further either.
What she needed more right now was an explanation she could accept.
For the time being, Gu Yue had no plans to kill Jiang Xia to silence him.
After all, he had Han Tianyi backing him.
Building a good relationship with Jiang Xia would be very useful for Gu Yue's future control over the Spirit Pagoda.
If she could win him over, then of course she would.
As for whether Jiang Xia might discover her true identity and see through the soul beast race's future plans, Gu Yue was not worried at all.
Some plans were destined to be carried out.
Since Gu Yue had left seclusion and taken human form, she naturally had complete confidence that she could accomplish her plans.
It had to be remembered that when the Spirit Pagoda was first founded, it had been jointly governed by humans and soul beasts.
The soul beast race had held no fewer seats than the human soul master world.
Over ten thousand years, the Spirit Pagoda had been completely taken over by humans and developed into its current state, but that did not mean the soul beast race had entirely lost control over it.
They had merely endured step by step, transferring their strength into the shadows as they did so.
For instance, when she became Leng Yaozhu's disciple, the background she had fabricated involved a super family. It was through that family's connections that she had approached Leng Yaozhu.
That super family was a force controlled by the soul beast race.
After getting clear answers to her questions, Gu Yue still explained some basic knowledge about creating virtual spaces to Jiang Xia.
She had been studying it for some time and had made some modest gains.
Jiang Xia benefited greatly.
"Thank you!"
"Don't just thank me. I remember your Silkworm Dream can serve as an external brain. Since it can enhance my Elemental Control, it should be able to help me learn these technologies too, right?"
Gu Yue looked at Jiang Xia, a glint of slyness flashing through her eyes.
She had been coveting this ability for a long time.
Jiang Xia stepped back and folded his arms over his chest, looking as though he had been violated.
"Seriously? You've been coveting my body all this time?"
Gu Yue rolled her eyes.
"Stop flattering yourself. I just want to improve."
The threshold for learning virtual space technology was quite high even for her.
After all, she needed not only to reproduce it, but also to understand its principles.
There was no helping it. If she did not understand the principles behind these technologies, how could she modify them to conceal her objectives?
To learn these technologies, she did not even devote her full attention to her regular cultivation or classes, instead setting aside a considerable portion of her attention to think through these technologies in real time.
Jiang Xia's external brain felt very comfortable to use.
If she could experience the feeling of setting her brain aside while studying, Gu Yue naturally wanted to try it as soon as possible.
Jiang Xia said, "You can use it, but you can't be too rough. If you input too much all at once, my Broken Dream will break too."
Gu Yue waved a hand.
"Don't worry. I'll hold back."
Early the next morning.
Class Zero.
"How has everyone's secondary profession cultivation been going?"
With the new semester, Wu Zhangkong began pushing everyone to put their secondary professions on the agenda.
He had already told everyone about the importance of secondary professions last semester.
Now that a semester had passed, he wanted to see the results.
Xu Xiaoyan raised her hand. "Teacher Wu, do we have to learn a secondary profession?"
"If you want to become a battle armor master, a secondary profession is indispensable," Wu Zhangkong said.
Xu Xiaoyan asked no more questions.
"Report your secondary profession ranks."
Wu Zhangkong had previously taken Tang Wulin to Heaven Dou City. Seeing that Tang Wulin had a huge sum of money on him, he had asked about it, only to learn that the boy was already capable of Thousand Refinements.
He realized that he needed to get a proper understanding of his students' progress in their secondary professions.
"Jiang Xia, you first."
"Rank-four blacksmith, rank-four mecha designer, rank-four mecha manufacturer."
Jiang Xia answered truthfully.
Yet after he finished, the entire class fell silent.
Wu Zhangkong stared at Jiang Xia.
His face was expressionless.
He was considering whether there was any chance Jiang Xia was joking.
No!
Jiang Xia was not the sort to casually crack a deadpan joke like this either.
So this fellow really had cultivated three secondary professions simultaneously at the age of nine and reached rank four in all of them!?
But how was that possible?
Wu Zhangkong had studied a secondary profession too. Of course he knew how arduous cultivating one was, especially his own profession of mecha manufacturer.
He had only barely advanced to rank-four mecha manufacturer at twelve.
That was a full three years later than Jiang Xia.
Not to mention, his cultivation speed was also slower than Jiang Xia's.
Even Wu Zhangkong reacted like this, let alone the others.
Gu Yue, who had taken human form and begun cultivating anew, also looked as though she had seen a ghost.
She stared at Jiang Xia and asked quietly, "How did you do it?"
Jiang Xia replied in a low voice, "Haven't you already experienced it?"
Gu Yue understood.
Broken Dream!
Her assessment of Jiang Xia's Broken Dream Martial Soul rose another notch.
This Martial Soul really was overpowered.
Rumor had it that the Broken Dream Martial Soul had already existed twenty thousand years ago.
She had no idea how those soul masters with the Broken Dream Martial Soul had cultivated. They had actually failed to leave even a trace in history.
What a complete waste of such a badass Martial Soul.
Wu Zhangkong heard their quiet exchange.
Recalling the principles behind Jiang Xia's enhancements to everyone, he suddenly asked, "Jiang Xia, can your Martial Soul ability help other people learn secondary professions?"
Jiang Xia immediately shook his head.
What a joke. How could I help with that?
I'm not here to hand out benefits.
Helping others cultivate inherently meant holding himself back.
Especially when he would be carrying someone else through their cultivation, rather than helping them improve together.
When he shared Broken Dream with Gu Yue and she researched cutting-edge virtual space creation technology, Jiang Xia could share in the experience.
What could Jiang Xia gain from helping Tang Wulin and the others, whose secondary professions were inferior to his, cultivate those professions?
Not only would he gain nothing, he would also have to waste his own power and delay his own cultivation.
So he firmly denied it.
Even if Wu Zhangkong did not believe him, he could not keep insisting that Jiang Xia help others for free.
