Gene Mutation Technique

When the two returned to Blackbird Base, they discovered that Qi Shuheng and Wang Tianer had yet to return.

They had teleported to that planet before Lin Shen. Lin Shen had entered later than them, and their Teleportation Devices' cooldowns had ended much earlier than his. They should have returned before him.

Since they still had not come back, either they had already died and thus could not teleport back, or they themselves had been unwilling to return because they had found other gains on that planet.

Lin Shen still hoped they could return. After all, if he went to Gourd Mountain again next time, he would still need the Blackbirds on them to guide the way.

When the Qi and Wang families learned that Lin Shen had returned, they all became extraordinarily quiet. No one dared come to probe for information.

They were terrified that their own people would never return. If that happened, the Qi and Wang families would likely find it difficult to contend with the Lin Family again.

The second was to acquire more pets, equipment, and Fire Seeds in preparation for the next trip to that planet.

The third was to go on blind dates and have children. No matter how much preparation he made, no one could know what dangers they might encounter in a place like that. If Lin Shen failed to return, someone in the Lin Family would still have to carry on the bloodline. He had promised his older brothers and sisters that he would do this, so he had to see it through.

The fourth was to learn a Gene Mutation Technique suited to him.

After undergoing gene mutation, one could begin cultivating a Gene Mutation Technique. A Gene Mutation Technique was a cultivation method capable of purifying and refining a Gene Mutation Body.

Put simply, it expelled the impurities within the Steel Body, Alloy Body, and Crystal Gene Body, raising their attributes and allowing them to absorb Gene Mutation Fluid more effectively.

Of course, that was only humanity's understanding. In truth, Gene Mutation Techniques were not called Gene Mutation Techniques in the universe, but Evolution Techniques.

In the universe, Evolution Techniques came in every conceivable variety, too numerous to count. Almost every race possessed its own unique Evolution Technique.

But Evolution Techniques also differed in rank and quality. According to Tian Xin, the five most widely circulated and highest-ranked Evolution Techniques in the universe were the Tian Xin Art, Myriad Things Growth, Theory of Evolution, Transformation Scripture, and Source Scripture.

Those were merely the abbreviated names of the five top-tier Evolution Techniques. For example, the Tian Xin Art's full name was the Celestial Unity Mental Formula. It had originally been created by the Celestial Race, then spread far and wide. Many races treated the Celestial Unity Mental Formula as a required course, calling it the foremost of the five great Evolution Techniques.

Of course, Lin Shen felt that Tian Xin was exaggerating somewhat.

By Lin Shen's own analysis, these five Evolution Techniques could not truly be considered top-tier. They were simply the most widespread and the most classic.

All paths led to the same destination. Lin Shen did not believe that the upper-class races of the universe would be kind enough to share their most cutting-edge Evolution Techniques with other races.

There were simply too many races in the universe. A race like humanity, which had only just stepped into the universe, would find it hard to draw the attention of those great races.

Tian Xin said that he knew of the human race, but only of a very few humans. Those humans were not particularly famous either; he only happened to know of them.

Wei Wufu confirmed this as well. Humanity indeed had quite a few people who had gone out into the universe, but there were truly no human powerhouses known throughout the universe so far. There were only a few human powerhouses with a little fame.

Tian Xin said there was some kind of universal Race Ranking List, and humanity was not even qualified to be listed.

That Ranking List went as far as one hundred million, yet the overwhelming majority of races, like humanity, were not qualified to make the list. This showed just how many races existed in the universe and how fierce the competition was.

As for whether great races from the universe might invade, there was no need to worry too much about that for the time being.

Even for those great races, traveling through the universe to reach another life-bearing planet was extremely difficult and required far too much time.

By the time they arrived, humanity might already have been swallowed up by the long river of history.

Passageways between planets mainly relied on Teleportation Devices—the watch-like device Lin Shen had worn before. Teleportation Devices could only be used within designated teleportation zones, and all teleportations were directional. Every Teleportation Device corresponded to only one planet.

No Teleportation Device leading here had been discovered so far. Even if one existed, the gene mutation resources here were so barren that probably not many people would come.

First, he did not trust Tian Xin. Second, there was simply no need.

Comparing the Celestial Unity Mental Formula Tian Xin had described with the Tian Xin Art Gene Mutation Technique he had read before, Lin Shen found them almost identical. Their general content was the same, with only a few minor differences in detail.

It was merely that within the Gene Mutation Techniques, the five classic Evolution Techniques were all referred to by their abbreviated names.

The only difference was that the Gene Mutation Techniques passed down only contained the Gene Mutation level portion, while Tian Xin's account included the later portions as well.
